Chapter 781: Chapter 778: A Kissing Scene Would Be Better
On set, when she wasn’t filming, Clara Grant was memorizing her lines from the script. Even while getting her makeup done, the script never left her hands; she read it every spare moment she had.
So, once she got busy, she completely forgot about going viral or becoming a star. All her energy was focused on shooting the show.
The male lead this time wasn’t Miles Quinn, but another actor who was just as tall and handsome. He was also a newcomer with little acting experience. While there was no longer the awkwardness of working with her brother-in-law, this was their first time working together, and they still needed to find their rhythm.
As a result, a full day of shooting was exhausting.
The actor playing the male lead was named Mason Holden. Clara Grant found his full name a bit of a mouthful, and since they were playing a couple and needed to build some intimacy and chemistry, she started affectionately calling him Mason.
After she started calling him that, others on the crew gradually began calling Mason Holden "Mason" as well.
Although Mason Holden was a newcomer, he didn’t have any of the typical rookie’s awkwardness. He was respectful and eager to learn, but also carried himself with quiet confidence.
At first, he was reluctant to have people call him that. After all, he was a typical guy’s guy, and being called "Mason" all the time felt a little cutesy.
He’d protested, but his protests were futile. Everyone on set kept calling him Mason, and even Director Keane would sometimes join in. So, he gave up and resignedly accepted his "wonderful" new nickname.
Having finished her scenes for the day, Clara Grant sat in a chair off to the side, planning to rest for a moment before removing her makeup.
She had her own personal assistant now. After all, as the president’s wife and the female lead, it was perfectly understandable for her to have one.
Her assistant twisted open a bottle of water and handed it to her. "Clara, have some water."
"Thank you." Clara Grant accepted it with a smile and took a sip.
"Clara," Mason Holden said, walking over with his script in hand. He pulled up a small stool and sat down in front of her.
"What’s up, Mason?" Clara Grant asked, swallowing the water in her mouth.
"Oh, I was just looking over the scenes for tomorrow, and there’s one in particular... here, look, this one. I think we should make a small change," Mason Holden said, pointing to the scene in his script and bluntly stating his opinion.
"In this scene, after the male and female leads say their lines, I don’t think they should just hug. I think it would be better to end the shot with a kiss. What do you think?"
Clara Grant was in the middle of taking a drink, turning her head to look where he was pointing. Before she could even see which scene it was, she heard what he said next.
And she spat out a mouthful of water...
Mason Holden frantically patted the water off his script, a pained look on his face. "Clara, you don’t have to get *that* excited about a kissing scene with me, do you? My script!"
"I’m so sorry, I didn’t do it on purpose." Clara Grant quickly helped him pat his script dry. "But I’m not excited about a kissing scene with you! I just wasn’t expecting you to suddenly suggest something like that!"
"What’s wrong with the suggestion?" Mason Holden asked, confused. "I think changing it to a kiss makes more sense."
This time, before Clara Grant could say anything, her young assistant behind her couldn’t help but pout and chime in, "Clara doesn’t do kissing scenes. Didn’t you know?"
