Chapter 789: Chapter 786: Does My Wife Need You to Protect Her?
Clara Grant and Mason Holden turned to see Seth Quinn. Clara hadn’t expected him to follow her to the film set. She just shot him a glance without a word before coldly turning her head away again.
Mason Holden, however, quickly greeted Seth Quinn. "President Quinn, you’re here." Then, he looked at Clara. "Well, Clara, I’ll let you and President Quinn talk. I’ll head out first."
"Was it you who suggested changing the hug scene to a kiss scene?"
Before Mason could even take a step, Seth Quinn’s cold voice cut in, the question clearly aimed at him.
Mason froze for a moment. Just as he was about to nod and say yes, Clara jolted and stepped in front of him, confronting Seth. "I was the one who suggested changing the scene, not him. Why are you asking him?"
"Is that so?" Seth’s expression darkened as he watched her shield Mason, his voice turning icy.
"Clara..." Mason started to speak, but Clara cut him off. "Shut up!"
Mason had no choice but to fall silent. Clara then said to him, "You need to leave."
"Clara, I..." Mason looked back and forth between Clara and Seth. Something felt very wrong. Both of them had icy expressions.
’Could this be because of my suggestion to change it to a kiss scene?’
He had always heard people at the company gossiping about how wonderful the President and his wife’s relationship was, how gentle and considerate the President was to her. But looking at them now, President Quinn didn’t seem very tolerant or doting toward Clara at all!
All he did was suggest changing it to a kiss scene. If President Quinn really couldn’t accept it, Mason could understand. But there was no need to treat Clara with such a cold attitude, right?
’Doesn’t he love Clara? Isn’t he supposed to be gentle and considerate toward her? If Clara is angry, he should be patiently comforting her, not acting so cold. What’s with this attitude?’
Mason suddenly felt that he was the one who had caused this trouble and made Clara suffer. Although he had less standing than Clara in front of President Quinn, he was a man. How could he let a woman take the blame for something he started?
So, he pushed Clara aside and, with an air of righteous conviction, said to Seth Quinn:
"President Quinn, this has nothing to do with Clara. I was the one who suggested it. If you’re dissatisfied with something, or if you need to vent your anger, direct it at me. Don’t make things difficult for Clara."
It was too late for Clara to stop him. Seeing Seth’s face grow darker and darker, she groaned inwardly. Mason’s explanation was just making things worse.
Seth’s anger flared. ’Fine. Just great! They’re protecting each other right in front of her legal husband. Am I just air to them?’
Staring at the young man who was slightly shorter than him, Seth’s lips curved into an exceptionally cold smirk. He asked slowly, "Do you... know what her relationship is to me?"
Mason faltered for a second, then answered subconsciously, "I know. She’s your wife."
"Heh. So you *do* know she’s my wife," Seth sneered. "Since she’s my wife, does she need you to protect her?" After speaking, he raised an eyebrow at Mason. "And you are... what was your name again?"
"Mason Holden, President Quinn!" Mason believed his answer was respectful without being servile.
Seth nodded and was about to speak when Clara shoved Mason hard. "Mason Holden, President Quinn and I are talking! What does this have to do with you? Get out! Get out!"
