The banquet had ended, and Yan Song escorted the male guests out. Before leaving, he glanced at Yun Miao, who seemed quite spirited and not at all like he was drunk.

He called someone over and instructed, “In a moment, help him to my room. There are many people here today, so be careful.”

The servant accepted the order respectfully. After Yan Song left, the servant thought for a moment before approaching and saying, “Mr. Ji, let me help you down for a rest.”

Yun Miao remained seated, unmoving. As the servant stepped closer, he noticed the man leaning his head on his hand, eyes half-closed as if asleep, emanating an enticing laziness.

The servant’s heart skipped a beat, and he quickly bowed his head, not daring to look further.

He waited quietly like that.

At this moment, someone called him for help. Seeing Yun Miao sitting there steadily, he thought it would be fine if he left briefly and swiftly hurried away.

Within two minutes, when he returned, the spot was already empty.

At this time, Ah Yun, who was beside the eldest mistress, approached and asked, “Where is Young Master Ji?”

The servant looked confused, “I just looked away for a second, and he’s gone.”

Ah Yun frowned, and said coldly, “Which way did he go?”

The servant shook his head in bewilderment.

Ah Yun muttered to herself, this is bad. How could the young master be fine after drinking so much? The mistress was worried as today there were many guests, and the eldest master, as the host, might have overlooked something, so she sent him over, but alas, she was a step too late.

However, considering the young master was no longer the same as before and didn’t need the mistress to worry constantly, the fear was only of the unexpected…

Ah Yun calmly instructed, “The young master wouldn’t have gone far. You take two people to look in the front hall, and I will search the backyard.”

They each went their separate ways.

Yun Miao was indeed somewhat drunk. He ignored the fact that things were different now, that his body was weaker than he imagined.

Having only drunk a little, he felt a bit floaty, yet his mind was clear.

Near the peach grove in the backyard, there was a large stone. He was lying on it at the moment, with sunlight filtering through the peach tree gaps, casting speckled light, so bright that it was difficult to open his eyes. The afternoon sunlight was more intoxicating than the wine he had sipped.

He lifted a hand to pinch his brow, and a soft breeze from the depths of the peach grove blew, wrapped in the fragrant scent of peach blossoms, making him feel like he was floating on clouds.

“Creak, creak…” The sound of shoes stepping on the grass was crisp, and in this overly silent afternoon, it seemed like even the bending grass was protesting.

Until the sound drew near, casting a shadow overhead, the figure seemingly asleep on the stone suddenly rose violently, his fingers forming claws, instantly locking onto the person’s throat.

Everything happened too suddenly; Yi Peilan hadn’t even reacted before she was pinned against the stone.

For a brief moment, she was a step away from death.

Yi Peilan trembled uncontrollably, her gaze fixed in terror at the eyes so near her own.

These eyes captured all the worldly charm, deep as the ocean, mysterious like an ancient well, both extravagantly captivating as peach blossoms and sharp and deadly like blades…

These eyes seemed to possess a magic, seizing her soul.

From initial fear, she slowly became entranced…

The man pressed his knee against her abdomen, one hand locking her throat in a position that was incredibly ambiguous, yet exuded endless coldness and menace.

Seeing it was a young girl, the man gave a mocking laugh. Yi Peilan didn’t know what he was laughing about but felt an inexplicable and helpless sorrow in his fleeting smile.

An unexpected pang of heartache.

So close now, she could almost smell the mix of alcohol on his body blended with the fragrance of peach blossoms, making her feel slightly tipsy. Deep within her, something was breaking out of its shell.

The man released her, straightened his body and looked ahead, “Sorry.”

Two faint words, gentle and polite, yet utterly devoid of emotion.

Yi Peilan coughed, covering her throat as she sat up, gazing at his profile, tall and graceful, indifferent yet mild. Though so near, it felt like he was worlds away.

Always arrogant and proud, she suddenly found herself speechless, just silently watching him.

As he seemed about to turn and leave, Yi Peilan hastily called out, “You hurt me, and now you’re just leaving without caring?”

The man halted but didn’t turn, “What of it?”

Two simple words, arrogant and ruthless.

Yi Peilan was taken aback and gritted her teeth, “I am the young lady of the Yi Family. Aren’t you afraid my father will trouble you?”

Most people would be scared silly upon hearing the Yi Family’s name.
