Chapter 211: Chapter 211: An Arrogant Family (7)
"As long as you stop talking back to me and spreading rumors about our company, I’ll consider not suing you, allowing you to take your college entrance exams without a hitch!"
The dinner table fell silent. Everyone put down their chopsticks in unison and looked at Quinn Jennings and Seraphina Sterling. For a little bickering at the dinner table to escalate to the point of a lawsuit... these two were really something else!
"Excuse me, I’m sorry to interrupt your dinner!" a stiff voice announced. Elias Jennings took one look, then shot up from the table reflexively.
"Vice Manager Hughes, hello. I’m the general manager of Yiju Architecture. I’m so sorry to have you come all this way. You really could have just called. As for the partnership, we can step outside to discuss it!"
Leo Jennings also left the dinner table, a warm smile adding to his charm. ’He never expected that the man he’d waited so long to see at the office this afternoon, without success, would personally show up at his home during dinner! Happiness had come so suddenly he could hardly believe it!’
"Vice Manager Hughes, hello. I’m the vice president of Yiju Architecture. I waited at your company all afternoon today but didn’t get to see you. I was starting to think you didn’t want to meet with me! It seems I was mistaken!"
Hearing what her father and brother said, Quinn Jennings immediately assessed the situation. She, too, quickly left the table and gracefully made her way over.
"For you to come in person, Vice Manager Hughes, you must have high expectations for the partnership between our two companies! Yiju Architecture is equally sincere about this collaboration. I’m sure we will have a very pleasant partnership!"
The others still at the table stared, their eyes wide. ’What in the world is going on? Are they discussing business partnerships at home now?’
’For those three arrogant people to act so enthusiastically, this man must be someone important!’
Seraphina Sterling looked at Hughes, who still wore his professional poker face, and personally went to grab a chair. "Wanna join us for a bite?"
Everyone: ...
’Seraphina Sterling is unbelievably bold! This is a VIP that those three snobs are falling over themselves to welcome, and not only is she not remotely respectful, she doesn’t even say please! And to invite him to dinner with such a casual attitude? The nerve on her is unbelievable!’
Quinn Jennings’s elegant and serene expression did a complete one-eighty. "Seraphina Sterling—get a hold of yourself! Vice Manager Hughes is our honored guest! How could you invite him to eat our leftovers?! That is incredibly rude and tactless!"
She was clearly seething, yet she had to force herself to maintain an elegant and proper facade. The resulting stiff, twisted expression on her face was quite a sight.
"That’s enough, Seraphina! We’ll take Vice Manager Hughes out to eat!" Elias Jennings, also worried about angering the VIP they had so eagerly awaited, quickly chimed in.
Seraphina Sterling shrugged. ’Fine, don’t eat then.’
"Seraphina Sterling, don’t just start fawning over everyone who walks in the door. Use your brain, would you? Considering his status, why would he be interested in a humble meal like ours? If you’re going to suck up to someone, at least come up with a better way to do it! Aren’t you supposed to be so smart? How can you not even think this little thing through?"
Zoe Jennings’s voice rang out coolly. She shot Quinn a contemptuous glance, then looked at the stunned Seraphina with utter exasperation, before finally leaving the table and heading back to her room.
After a brief moment of shock, Seraphina Sterling quickly composed herself. ’Was Zoe Jennings just sticking up for me? When did she and I get so close? How did I not know?’
