Chapter 210: Chapter 210: An Arrogant Family (6)

"Shut up, all of you! Stop laughing! This is dinnertime, not for your amusement! Don’t you understand the rule about not speaking while you eat?"

Quinn Jennings was already a bundle of nerves. Seeing the sumptuous meal on the table and hearing everyone’s cheerful laughter only made her feel more panicked and frantic, so she just roared.

"Telling your hosts to follow rules while eating in their own home! What a joke! An absolute joke!" Seraphina Sterling shot Quinn Jennings a warning glare. The message was clear: shut up if you know what’s good for you. Otherwise, don’t blame her for being merciless. Don’t forget who they died for, and why.

"Hmph! How provincial! One must always adhere to the rules, no matter the circumstances! Without rules, there is no order! This has nothing to do with being a host or a guest; it’s a matter of personal refinement. Of course, I can’t blame you. You are, after all, from some small town—you wouldn’t understand such complex etiquette!"

Quinn Jennings went right back to looking down on everyone else. It was becoming her mantra—if she wasn’t scorning one person, she was mocking another. The Jennings family really couldn’t stand her. There was even a rumor she’d pissed on the bathroom floor, though who knew if it was true.

Right there at the dinner table, Quinn Jennings kicked up a fuss, chastising one person, then the next. First, a dish was too bland, then another was too salty. She was so obviously trying to pick a fight that Seraphina Sterling saw right through it immediately.

"If you’re really so concerned with etiquette, if you truly understand it, then you shouldn’t be lecturing people at the dinner table. We haven’t even finished our meal, and you’ve already started your little performance. Is this because your company can’t get its project off the ground, so you’ve decided to stir up trouble here instead?"

With just one sentence from Seraphina Sterling, the noisy dinner table fell silent. All eyes darted from Leo and Quinn Jennings back to Seraphina. That was a question they still hadn’t answered.

Quinn Jennings’s expression tightened. Fearing that Seraphina Sterling actually knew something, she immediately retorted.

"Seraphina Sterling, don’t stand there spouting nonsense and confusing everyone! Our company is doing just fine! There’s nothing wrong! If you keep making these kinds of ambiguous statements and damaging our company’s reputation, I can sue you! I will sue you! If you want to go to school in peace and take your exams without a hitch, then you’d better stop slandering our company’s name! Otherwise, you will not like the consequences!"

Seraphina Sterling fell silent, merely watching Quinn Jennings coolly, her brilliant eyes as tranquil as a still lake. From start to finish, she remained completely unfazed. Compared to the tense and anxious Quinn, Seraphina was composed and serene, as if nothing had happened at all. To everyone watching, their starkly different demeanors made it painfully obvious who was superior and who was inferior. Quinn Jennings’s level of cunning was leagues below Seraphina Sterling’s.

"Resorting to threats now, are we? It seems the situation at your esteemed company is truly not looking good. Instead of wasting your breath in a verbal spat here, I’d advise you to put that time and energy into actually running your company. Don’t waste all your efforts on trivial matters like whether or not we talk during dinner."

Having said her piece, Seraphina Sterling picked up a green bean and ate it with great relish.

Quinn Jennings’s eyes were practically shooting flames. "Seraphina Sterling! I swear, I will absolutely sue you! Spreading rumors that my company is in trouble will be enough to keep you tied up in court so long you’ll miss the college entrance exams!" A vicious look flashed across her face.

The moment she heard the college entrance exams might be affected, Kimberly Jennings grew nervous.

But Seraphina Sterling’s expression didn’t change at all. ’The college entrance exams? What a joke.’ She was actually being threatened with *that*? She, Seraphina Sterling, had never intended to rely on some exam in the first place, thank you very much!

To Quinn Jennings, Seraphina Sterling’s momentary silence was a clear sign of fear and retreat. Quinn thought she had finally found Seraphina’s weakness, a way to finally control her! The anxiety and frustration on her face faded, replaced by the arrogant smugness of victory.
