Chapter 222: Chapter 222: The Black-Bellied Seraphina (5)
"If you’d missed out on the Red Coral, you wouldn’t be smiling like that!" Seraphina Sterling led the way. Ronan Winters had wasted too much of her time. ’I wonder if he’s tired of waiting?’
"You’re terrifying. From now on, I’ll have to wear a mask around you, or I won’t have any secrets left!" While shocked, Leo Jennings also found himself admiring Seraphina Sterling’s abilities even more. ’To have such a talent for reading people and situations at her age! Compared to her, I still have a long way to go.’
"You already wear a mask all the time. Otherwise, how would anyone think the owner of Livable Architecture is your father, Elias Jennings!" Seraphina Sterling glanced at him from the corner of her eye, taking in his momentarily stunned expression. ’He has potential, but he’s young, impetuous, and arrogant. If that temperament of his could be reined in, he’d be quite a talent.’
"And here I thought I was doing a great job, but you saw right through me! You’ve got some sharp eyes!" Leo Jennings’s good mood evaporated. When it came to Seraphina Sterling, he had never once experienced the satisfaction of coming out on top. "Is Mr. Grant really going to be at this auction? It’s already half over, and I haven’t seen any sign of him."
’Nice change of subject.’ Seraphina Sterling averted her gaze and knocked on the door of a VIP room.
"The master has been waiting for you for a long time!" When Hughes saw Seraphina Sterling, he looked as if he’d just seen his savior. ’The master’s expression a moment ago was terrifying. I really don’t want to be a sparring partner like those other three. They’re still laid up in bed!’
But when he caught sight of Leo Jennings behind her, Hughes’s heart, which had just settled, leaped back into his throat. "The master doesn’t like to see strangers!"
Leo Jennings was just about to greet Hughes when he heard the crushing words. He looked at Seraphina Sterling, astonished. "Didn’t you promise you’d arrange for me to meet Mr. Grant?"
"That’s right. And haven’t I brought you here?" Seraphina Sterling’s tone was matter-of-fact, leaving Leo Jennings speechless.
He had assumed Seraphina Sterling had arranged for him to meet Mr. Grant. It turned out, she was the one with the appointment; from start to finish, this had nothing to do with him! Even without him, Seraphina Sterling would have come here today to see Mr. Grant! And he’d actually thought she came especially for him. Now he truly understood what it meant to be wishful—he was experiencing it firsthand!
For this meeting, he had even agreed to her conditions! ’Seraphina Sterling is frighteningly clever, to have even calculated this!’ Leo Jennings was utterly speechless.
"Took you long enough." Terrence Grant completely ignored Leo Jennings, who had followed her in.
"Ran into a little something on the way, got held up. What did you call me here for?" Seraphina Sterling had no intention of introducing Leo Jennings. ’She had only promised to arrange the meeting. Whether or not he could actually get a word in wasn’t her problem.’
"See if there’s anything you like." Terrence Grant handed the auction catalog to Seraphina Sterling. "The auction is almost over, but the later the item, the more valuable it is."
Seraphina Sterling didn’t open the catalog, instead raising an eyebrow at Terrence Grant. "What’s the meaning of this? A gift? You already gave me my New Year’s present."
"I heard Zion Hale gave you a Jade Bracelet." Terrence Grant’s tone was casual. "How can I, your teacher, be outdone?" But his eyes were brimming with jealousy.
"You investigated me?" Seraphina Sterling slapped the catalog face down on the table. Her voice was soft, but laced with danger. ’She hated being investigated more than anything.’
"Pick something you like. I’ll buy it for you. But that bracelet—you must hand it over to me, now. It’s no good."
