Chapter 249: Chapter 249: First Encounter with Faye Sterling (3)

Seraphina Sterling shook her head helplessly. ’This girl’s temper is so explosive.’ "You really shouldn’t compare yourself to me. I’m a special case. If you try to compete with me, you’ll be the only one who gets hurt."

She was telling the truth, and it was a sincere warning to Sylvia Jennings. She had already learned all this once before and was intimately familiar with the required mindset. For her, the high school curriculum posed no difficulty whatsoever. With just a little review, she could master all the key exam topics without even needing to attend school. To her, the college entrance exams were child’s play.

"Seraphina Sterling—don’t be so arrogant! Why can’t I compare myself to you? Don’t you think you’re getting a little ahead of yourself? You shouldn’t be so proud! Let’s be blunt: right now, you’re just a girl from a single-parent home whose father is dead! You and your mother have to rely on each other just to get by! You don’t even have a place to stay! You’re practically homeless! What right do you have to act so high and mighty?!"

The more Sylvia Jennings spoke, the more she felt she was leagues better than Seraphina Sterling, and her confidence soared. "You’re just a pathetic parasite, kicked out by the Sterling Family, forced to come crawling back to Tollan. If the Jennings Family hadn’t taken you in, you’d be sleeping on the streets! What gives you the right to be so arrogant here?"

Seraphina Sterling smiled faintly, her eyes flashing with a brilliant light. "Arrogant? I’m speaking facts. If that’s what you call arrogance, then your mental fortitude is just too weak. And let’s be clear, even if I am arrogant, I have the capital to back it up. You, Sylvia Jennings, do you? Everything I possess, I’ve earned through my own hard work. And you? You’re nothing more than a student who can only survive by relying on your parents!"

Seraphina Sterling’s powerfully assertive declaration instantly silenced the living room. Sylvia Jennings was shocked speechless. In that moment, a surprising sense of admiration welled up inside her, an involuntary urge to submit.

None of the younger Jennings cousins spoke up. They hadn’t forgotten Seraphina Sterling paying the three million in compensation to the Cheney and Warren Families, nor had they forgotten how the once-mighty Hale Family met its downfall. Then there was Seraphina Sterling’s extraordinary performance at the stone auction. Thinking about it now, Seraphina Sterling really did have the capital to be arrogant.

Just as the living room fell completely silent, a well-dressed, middle-aged man walked in.

"May I ask who you’re looking for?" Spotting the stranger, Zoe Jennings immediately went to greet him.

"Miss Seraphina, I’ve finally found you! And the Madam? Why did you leave the Sterling Family? When the Old Master returned from Country M, he learned of all that had happened at home. He was furious and sent me immediately to bring you and your mother home!"

The situation had taken a dramatic turn. None of them—not Sylvia Jennings, Ray Jennings, or Zoe Jennings—had ever witnessed a scene like this. Titles like "Miss" and "Madam" were the stuff of television dramas.

In her last life, it was only with Justin Hale’s help that she and her mother had returned to the Sterling Family and reclaimed the assets that should have been theirs. She had even become the family’s sole heir. In the end, however, the entire Sterling fortune still fell into the hands of Justin Hale and Faye Sterling.

The circumstances of this life were already beginning to change, from the Jennings family’s attitude toward her and her mother to the way the Sterling Family had come to retrieve them. Seraphina Sterling offered a faint, pleasant smile. "Mr. Turner, how is Grandfather’s health?"

"The Old Master is still quite robust, but his greatest worry is you and the Madam, Miss Seraphina. That’s exactly why he sent me to come and bring you home. I am sure that seeing you both will make him even happier."

Butler Turner was a unique figure in the Sterling Family. He had been with the Old Master since they were young men and had never married. He was, without a doubt, the Old Master’s most trusted confidant.
