A Warm Marriage After Rebirth
Chapter 323: Declaration of War (3)
Chapter 323: Chapter 323: Declaration of War (3)
At first, these arrogant heiresses from prestigious families were quite indignant. Though their family backgrounds weren’t as impressive as Terrence Grant’s, finding someone in Aethelgard with a better pedigree was truly a challenge. Besides, they had it all—looks, figures, education, and ability. What on earth did Terrence Grant find so lacking in them?
But that sense of unfairness only lasted for a little while. Later, when everyone realized that Terrence Grant didn’t have a single woman by his side, a sense of equilibrium was restored over time. The reasoning was simple: he hadn’t chosen them, but he hadn’t chosen any other heiress either.
But today, that precedent was shattered by a newcomer.
Not only had Terrence Grant rejected Skylar Thompson for Seraphina Sterling, but he had also made a grand spectacle of proposing in public. After being rejected, he had brazenly grabbed her in front of everyone and, with no regard for the setting, forcefully kissed her!
Oh my god! Did the change have to be so drastic? They just couldn’t process it all at once!
Of course, the ones who truly couldn’t accept it were the other heiresses—especially Skylar Thompson, who had just proposed to him in public. Everyone else was mostly just shocked, and even more so, they were curious. What was so special about this Seraphina Sterling that could drive Terrence Grant to such extremes?
Terrence Grant’s kiss was fierce, fueled by Seraphina Sterling’s nonchalance and her public rejection of him. Initially, he had only meant to punish her for getting so close to Wyatt Gallagher, for daring to turn down his proposal. But as the kiss went on, it morphed into something else entirely, becoming almost excessively intense—like a long-starved wolf that had just seen a succulent feast, wanting to devour it whole.
Who knew a kiss could be so steamy, so passionate? If the setting hadn’t been so public, they all would have suspected that Terrence Grant wanted to take her, right then and there—to do her on the spot.
Terrence Grant, for his part, thought it was a real shame. ’These people are so clueless. Can’t they see what’s happening and make themselves scarce? Honestly, what a waste of a perfect opportunity! I wonder... could I just drag the woman in my arms to one of the lounges upstairs?’
But it was just a thought. Though he was far from finished, he didn’t dare go too far. He knew Seraphina Sterling’s stubborn nature better than anyone; once she dug her heels in, even he would be helpless to do anything with her. So, no matter how reluctant he was, Terrence Grant ended the kiss.
"Mr. Grant, don’t you think you’ve gone too far? Seraphina is my girlfriend!" Wyatt Gallagher’s usual polite and gentle demeanor was gone, replaced by a grim expression as he stared at Terrence Grant. ’This man was the infamous Demon King of Chaos, capable of anything,’ he thought. ’I just never expected he’d be so brazen as to publicly fight me for a woman!’
"Your girlfriend? Are you even worthy? She’s the woman I, Terrence Grant, have chosen to be the next Mrs. Grant! She can only marry into the Grant Family! Don’t think for a second that I don’t know what you two are planning! You just don’t want to be with Miss Gable, but since your rejections have no effect on her, you dragged Seraphina Sterling here to put on an act! And I can’t believe you people can’t even tell the difference between what’s real and what’s fake!"
Terrence Grant made no attempt to hide his contempt for their intelligence. Only someone like Terrence Grant would dare to do such a thing. Who else would have the audacity to be so arrogant, to treat everyone present like a complete idiot?
"Then how do you know they’re faking it? Are they doing this just to trick me, to make me give up hope?" Shannon Gable, who hadn’t yet made it to the medical room, heard this and suddenly felt as if the injury on her wrist was half-healed. The pain, too, had lessened significantly.
Terrence Grant’s sharp eyes narrowed, his arrogant smile widening even more. "Because Seraphina once told me herself that she could never fall for Wyatt Gallagher!"
