Chapter 473: Seraphina Is Being Discussed for Marriage (Part 5)

“Seraphina Sterling, you’re really something else! You even managed to charm the security guards at the Stelluna Hotel! I was wondering how someone like you could get into my grandfather’s birthday banquet. To say you had someone bring you in would be overestimating you! I bet you put a lot of ‘effort’ into these guards, charming them so completely that they’ve forgotten their own duties! You really went all out just to get in here! I just wonder if you slept with one of them, or both! Or perhaps, you didn’t spare a single guard here?”

Shelby Fenton chimed in, doing her best to slander Seraphina.

Seraphina’s bright eyes gradually darkened like gathering storm clouds. The pressure in the air instantly dropped, as if a violent tempest was about to break. She threw a cool glance at Shelby Fenton.

“An illegitimate daughter is an illegitimate daughter. Even in a dragon robe, you’ll never be a crown prince! It’s a good thing everyone knows your origins; otherwise, they might think this is the Fenton Family’s standard of upbringing! To think a young lady of the Fenton Family could be so uncultured! Those aren’t words a well-bred socialite would ever say! Trash will always be trash! Now I know why the head of the Fenton Family has never officially acknowledged you—he can’t afford the embarrassment! The Fenton Family can’t afford such a disgrace!”

“Seraphina Sterling—” Shelby Fenton roared. “If you two still want to make a living in Aethelgard, then throw this detestable woman out of my grandfather’s birthday banquet right now!”

“What’s going on here?” Just as the two security guards were in a bind, a gentle voice came to their rescue.

“Mr. Hale, this lady and this young miss want to throw Miss Sterling out!” the shorter guard hastily reported. ‘It’s tough being caught in the middle. I wish I could get out of this godforsaken place right now! These high-society folks are impossible to please!’

“Seraphina Sterling?” Justin Hale frowned slightly. ‘It seems there’s never any peace wherever this woman is!’

“Mr. Hale, as a member of the Hale family, shouldn’t you give me an explanation? I came here in all sincerity to wish Master Hale a happy birthday, but before the banquet even starts, I’m being thrown out by the Hales. Not only that, but these two have been spewing nonsense and vulgarities this whole time. Is this the Hale Family’s way of treating guests? Or is it that the Hale Family looks down on the Sterling Family, thinking we aren’t worthy of coming to celebrate Master Hale’s birthday?”

Seraphina suddenly shed her previous tolerant demeanor and became forceful. Her soft voice did nothing to diminish her firm attitude. In just a few sentences, she had laid bare the stakes between their two families. If Justin Hale didn’t take a stance, it would be seen as a slight against the Sterling Family. Although the Hale Family was powerful, the Sterling Family was not some unknown clan. If the two families were to truly clash, the outcome was far from certain.

“The eldest miss of the Sterling Family?”

“Which Sterling Family?”

“How many other Sterling Families are there in Aethelgard? The one in the department store business!”

“Oh my god! So she really is a true heiress!”

“But I just saw a Miss Sterling! She didn’t look like this. Could she be an impostor?”

“Are you an idiot? Mr. Hale himself said it. Could Mr. Hale be mistaken? The one we saw earlier must have been the second miss, which makes this one the eldest!”

“Now that you say that, I remember. The Sterling Family has two sons, and the second son is currently in charge of The Sterling Group. That means she must be the daughter of the eldest son! She’s so low-profile, though! I’ve never even seen her before!”

The crowd’s murmurs reached the mother and daughter, leaving them so shocked they were speechless.

Justin Hale had no choice but to take on this hot potato. “Aunt, this is the eldest miss of the Sterling Family. She came today with Mr. Sterling. Could there have been some misunderstanding? Miss Sterling has always been magnanimous. Once things are cleared up, I’m sure she won’t hold it against you!”
