Chapter 481: Chapter 481: Ruined the Birthday Speech (5)

"Your son is a born doctor! Doctors save lives; businessmen just make money! Life is far more important than money. I’ll give you an idea: since your son doesn’t want to return to the company, just find a woman who knows business to be your daughter-in-law. You can hand the company over to her in the future! She’ll be a Gallagher anyway, so it’s all the same who runs the company!"

Mr. Hale was truly in high spirits tonight. Otherwise, why would he even bother meddling in such trivial matters, let alone offer advice? It was simply unbelievable! Even the Hales were utterly shocked. Since when had their family’s ice-cold patriarch become so kindhearted?

"Mr. Hale is right, that’s certainly an option to consider!" A smile remained on Felix Gallagher’s face, his expression no different than before. Even these wily old foxes of the business world couldn’t decipher his true thoughts.

Just then, a crisp voice rang out. "Mr. Gallagher, I’ve already started interning at the company. I’m confident that with my intelligence and hard work, I can achieve great things in the business world. Do you think I’m qualified to be your daughter-in-law?" Shannon Gable, standing beside Gordon Gable, blurted this out, shocking everyone. It was rare to see such a forward girl these days!

’Shannon Gable, Gordon Gable’s granddaughter... a marriage alliance between the Gable and Gallagher families would be a match of equals. But given her temperament, she’d probably get eaten alive in the business world. He would never dare entrust the Gallagher family’s legacy to such a naive girl! Compared to Shannon Gable, he much preferred Seraphina Sterling. Besides, she was the one his son liked. She and his son were the perfect match!’

However, Felix Gallagher didn’t reject her outright; he wasn’t one to make enemies so easily. After a moment of feigned deep thought, he said with a very solemn expression, "That will depend on your future performance. The business world isn’t as simple as you imagine! If you underestimate it, you’ll be the one to suffer in the end."

"I will definitely fight for it!" Although Shannon Gable was a little disappointed, she quickly rallied. She still had a chance to compete.

"Seraphina, you’re here! Wyatt said you don’t care for these kinds of events, so I thought you wouldn’t make it." Felix Gallagher stopped talking to the old fossils and turned his attention to Seraphina Sterling. ’Such a perfect opportunity, so where did that little brat run off to? I absolutely cannot let the Hale’s second son beat him to it!’ In his mind, Felix Gallagher was cursing his son to death.

Seraphina Sterling wore a helpless expression. "I really don’t enjoy banquets. My grandfather dragged me here tonight. How could I possibly refuse his request?" Her vexed expression seemed to please Felix Gallagher, who roared with laughter. His booming laugh drew even more attention to their corner.

"Such a dutiful daughter! You should come visit our home more often when you have time. On days he’s not working, Wyatt is usually home alone. You two could go out together! And if you ever need help with anything in the future, don’t hesitate—just contact Wyatt directly and put him to work for you!"

Felix Gallagher was incredibly enthusiastic, sparing no effort to create opportunities for Wyatt. ’She’s such a perfect potential daughter-in-law. If I don’t act fast and someone else snatches her up, it’ll be a terrible loss!’

Seraphina was at a loss for words. ’What kind of father sells his own son out like this? Wyatt barely gets any time off, and he’s telling me to order him around? I wonder if Wyatt would burst into tears if he knew! Still, I have to keep up appearances.’

She offered a warm smile, as rare and captivating as an orchid in a secluded valley. "I will, Mr. Gallagher."

Unbeknownst to them, Shannon Gable had witnessed the entire exchange, and the flames of jealousy flared in her heart once more. At the last party, Wyatt Gallagher had personally rejected her in front of everyone, which was a huge humiliation. To think the father was just as bad as the son! Just now, Felix Gallagher had only offered her a few polite platitudes; after all, with her grandfather present, he couldn’t just dismiss her outright.
