Chapter 3088 - 3089: The Princess Disappears

Chapter 3088: Chapter 3089: The Princess Disappears

The old guys of the Zhong Family are extremely ruthless. Since they’ve made up their minds to sacrifice Ao Song to counteract Taisui, they would definitely guard Zhong Kui to death. Keeping him alive is to coerce Ao Song, so how could they not have a backup plan, placing something on Zhong Kui?

This cruel and selfish family, the Zhong Family, should have been eradicated long ago!

Bai Ruozhu squinted her eyes, the Zhong Family had thoroughly angered her.

At this moment, footsteps were heard from outside, "Greetings to the envoy from Danliang Country."

Bai Ruozhu recognized the voice of the guard from before and quickly gathered her thoughts, "Come in, how did your inquiries go?"

The guard walked into the main hall and respectfully bowed, but Bai Ruozhu, with her sharp eyes, noticed his hands were trembling slightly, and though his head was lowered, his reddened eyes were not concealed.

"His Majesty the King has passed away!" He couldn’t finish his sentence before choking up, even shedding tears.

Bai Ruozhu stood up with a start and rushed over to grab his collar, forcing him to raise his head and look at her.

She stared intently into his eyes, "Say it again, who?"

The guard was a bit scared, yet he didn’t seem to be lying. His hands trembled slightly due to his agitated emotions — their respected King had passed away.

"How is that possible?" Jiang Yichun couldn’t help but exclaim. Although his medical skills were not as good as Bai Ruozhu’s, he had also learned some. Previously, he had seen the King of the Western Regions in good health, how could he suddenly have passed away?

"What sudden illness?" Bai Ruozhu pursued the question.

The guard shook his head, "I heard it was heart disease, a sudden onset."

"Impossible!" Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but cry out.

Heart disease being a heart condition, is generally hard to detect, and sudden onset isn’t entirely impossible.

Even modern people working under stress often have poor heart conditions, experiencing chest tightness, shortness of breath, or even heart pain, but not everyone suddenly dies abruptly.

But Bai Ruozhu is not an ordinary doctor. She had once taken the pulse of the King of the Western Regions; if he had heart disease, she wouldn’t have missed it.

Let alone a heart disease that suddenly takes one’s life?

There must be something wrong here!

"Where is Princess Yingtong?" she asked again.

"They should all be in the king’s bedchamber," the guard said.

The King’s sudden death likely threw the Western Regions’ court into chaos.

Bai Ruozhu took a deep breath, suppressing the turbulence in her heart, and exchanged a glance with Jiang Yichun.

"It’s hard for us to stay out of this, let’s go." Jiang Yichun said, taking her hand.

She nodded; as long as he was by her side, she feared neither knife mountain nor sea of fire.

Gao Zhou was somewhat worried, but considering the current situation, he didn’t follow them.

The guard hurriedly led the two towards the king’s bedchamber.

Before they even got close, they heard a chorus of cries, some genuinely mournful, others merely putting on a show.

Bai Ruozhu saw someone dressed as an Internal Servant Official and quickly stopped him, "We are envoys from Danliang Country and wish to see Princess Yingtong."

The Internal Servant Official glanced at her quickly, a bit flustered, and said, "Princess Yingtong is not in the bedchamber, we are also looking for her."

"Did she leave the palace?" Bai Ruozhu asked urgently.

"I don’t know, the people serving her don’t know either, it seems she didn’t return to the palace last night," the Internal Servant Official replied.

Seeing she couldn’t get any useful information, Bai Ruozhu let the man busy himself, yet her heart sank.

Princess Yingtong didn’t return to the palace last night, and today the King suddenly died of heart disease. Could it be too much of a coincidence?

Could there be a dark hand behind the scenes controlling everything? Is it the remnants of the Divine Hall from back then?
