Abyss Summoner
Chapter 869: Strange Lifeform [Subscription Request]
“Is this the Land of Slumber?”
Chen Feng looked at the valley before him, somewhat puzzled as he asked.
From above, it looked like a giant meteor had fallen, forming a basin. Surrounding the valley, there were no trees, birds, or beasts, looking like a true land of the necromancer!
Meteor?
Chen Feng couldn’t help but glance up at the sky, and above, there were not only meteors but also some truly powerful gods that defied understanding.
He hadn’t even stepped into the valley yet, just standing on the outskirts, Chen Feng could feel a palpable sense of oppression. It wasn’t that he couldn’t breathe, but with every breath, it felt like inhaling a thorn, causing extreme agony.
No wonder there’s no life around here; anyone living here long enough would either have a mental breakdown or succumb to the unbearable pain.
Even more terrifying, this was just the outskirts, not even the center.
“You can still change your mind,” Li’s voice came from beside him. The female chieftain no longer had her previous gallant demeanor but displayed a hint of panic and timidity that only a young girl would have.
Li was afraid of this valley.
“My parents died in this valley. That day was supposed to be the annual festival, and all the Naya people came here for the event, but… its energy suddenly went berserk. Except for those on the outskirts, all life within a thousand meters perished!”
“Over six thousand Naya people died in that unknown catastrophe. Since then, its aura spread, and within a five-mile radius, no grass grows, and no living being dares to approach this place.”
“This is the Land of Slumber, and also the burial ground of the Naya people.”
Li’s voice reached Chen Feng’s ears, and he felt a chill down his spine. He hadn’t expected the Land of Slumber to have such a backstory.
Berserk energy?
Thousands dead?
Chen Feng furrowed his brows. This sounded like a deliberately orchestrated sacrificial ritual.
After all, there were too many coincidences! Participating in the annual festival, the energy of the Land of Slumber suddenly mutates, thousands die tragically, and since then, its aura becomes even more violent, preventing even trees from growing around it.
It seems the Naya people are like lab rats living here, perhaps their only purpose being to provide life energy to that entity.
Once enough energy is accumulated, that entity will be resurrected!
Chen Feng was startled by this thought, finding it terrifying upon deeper reflection.
Of course, this was just Chen Feng’s speculation; if he mentioned this to Li, it might lead to misunderstandings.
What he needed to do now was conduct some exploration. If there truly was a deity here, Chen Feng could summon the altar at that time!
“I am ready. I still adhere to my previous decision. I want to explore here,” Chen Feng gave Li a definitive response.
Li sighed and said, “Even though you are strong, you are not comparable to this place. Considering your level, I suggest you stay inside for at most an hour and a half. Once exceeded, unimaginable disaster may occur!”
The female chieftain’s words were clear; she wouldn’t follow him inside. Even though Chen Feng was a Half-Step Epic, Li’s suggested time was only an hour and a half, any longer, and it would be fatal.
Chen Feng nodded. His intent was exploration, not suicide. If the time exceeded, he would naturally prioritize his safety.
Without much farewell, Chen Feng stepped forward and walked towards the valley.
Li watched his gradually disappearing figure and sighed silently, unsure if she was worried about Chen Feng or reminiscing about the untouchable past.
………
Chen Feng was not feeling well now. Even though he had prepared, as he got closer to the Land of Slumber, some irresistible changes still occurred in his body.
The first was breathing.
If standing on the outskirts, each breath felt like swallowing thorns, causing the throat to suffer; now that feeling had intensified drastically!
Each breath wasn’t just a prick but felt like the air had become some kind of entity. It was like inhaling a viscous substance into his throat.
It clogged his throat, leaving only a small airway so that he had to breathe hard several times to satisfy his body’s oxygen intake.
Mental hypnosis?
Chen Feng furrowed his brow, attempting to analyze it through spiritual power, yet when his spiritual power seeped into the environment, it was like a stream flowing into the ocean, disappearing without a trace.
Such an experience was beyond strange, it was eerie!
Moreover, Chen Feng’s mood grew increasingly agitated, resembling that of the Dark Child’s aura, except now the aura was even more intense than the Dark Child’s.
Twisted and shadowy.
These auras filled one’s mind with unpleasant images, and it was pervasive, impossible to resist or ignore.
Chen Feng was desperate to uncover the secrets hidden behind all this. His pupils constricted as the All-Seeing Eye slowly opened.
He attempted to pierce through illusions, searching for information useful to him!
Chen Feng’s body abruptly trembled. As the All-Seeing Eye opened, he noticed a bloated monster several hundred meters away.
The creature’s rough body displayed features of octopuses, bats, and humans. It was entirely green and gigantic, as tall as a mountain; it had countless tentacles on its soft head, a fat-scaled body, and floppy forelimbs resembling claws, with a pair of ragged, seemingly underdeveloped wings behind.
This looked like an erratically assembled monstrosity, not the devourer of an Inferior Demon, but a grotesque entity born this way!
The creature stood still, its body resembling a sea surface with many ripples. Clearly, this wasn’t its true form but an energy-formed state!
As Chen Feng focused on it, the creature’s body began to slowly sway, seemingly attempting to turn around.
In a lengthy wait, after a minute, the creature’s dreadfully large body finally aligned, and the hundreds of eyes on its body were entirely fixed on Chen Feng!
Discovered?!
Being stared down by hundreds of emotionless white eyes was far from comfortable.
Chen Feng’s body began to tremble slightly, a nearly impossible reaction for a Half-Step Epic warrior.
But at that moment, Chen Feng couldn’t control his emotions.
He was scared.
Under the gaze of those eyes, he even felt the essence of death.
Chen Feng spread his palm, aware of what he needed to do now. He had to connect with the altar dwelling in the depths of the Abyss!
