Chapter 886: Chapter 857: Zombie Paradise [Extra Chapter for Xingchen Na!]
Chen Feng stayed in the Naya people’s world for another seven days. During this time, he vigorously mined those floating stones in the sky. The largest one was as huge as three basketball courts. Naturally, it was impossible for Chen Feng alone to complete the task. With the help of the Inferior Demon and the Blazing Demon, the mining was finally accomplished.
This place was just established, even though they subdued Zhao Qiangdong, the former business tycoon. However, the time of submission was too short, and Chen Feng couldn’t fully trust him. After careful consideration, Chen Feng decided to leave Wei Xun here for the time being.
Wei Xun had followed Chen Feng since the beginning and witnessed the rise of Order from nothing to something. Being in charge of the Blood War Department, he was naturally skilled in management.
Even though the environment was very foreign, Wei Xun accepted Chen Feng’s commission with absolute loyalty without any hesitation.
As for the godhead buried in the land of slumber.
Chen Feng also formulated a plan. Once he reached the Epic Tier, he would join forces with Flora to explore it. Having already sacrificed some souls, the godhead didn’t appear, suggesting its freedom might be restricted.
It’s just uncertain whether this restriction was enforced or due to severe injury and a resultant dormant state. However, despite his curiosity, Chen Feng didn’t intend to personally investigate underground.
Don’t court death if you don’t want to die.
Chen Feng was well aware of the disparity between him and the godhead. Even if it were just a single soul thread, it had already achieved the Half-Step Epic realm. If he approached it, who could predict what changes might occur? He had no wish to throw his life away!
For Chen Feng, some gambles are worth taking because the losses are within his tolerable range. But some gambles are untouchable because they are life-and-death stakes. Even though the rewards are immense if won, losing means only death!
Thinking of this, Chen Feng abandoned the act of courting death and instead embarked on the path back to Order!
The Legendary Giant Whale had fully recovered after some time of recuperation. It had transformed from a human into a deep-sea beast due to the persuasion of Pang Mu so that its family could have a better life. In a certain sense, it could be considered a creature of emotions and loyalty.
Chen Feng promised in his own words that as long as he lived, he would ensure the prosperity and safety of the whale’s family. Now that the Legendary Giant Whale had no way out, Chen Feng was its only allegiance. As a result, the whale wholeheartedly submitted, shaking off its previous indecisive feelings.
.........
"Faster! A bit faster!" A voice full of laughter echoed across the vast sea!
The Legendary Giant Whale sped across the sea surface like a true warship. No, its form and presence had surpassed that of an ordinary warship in a way that its massive size alone induced a strong sense of fear!
Standing in the middle of the Legendary Giant Whale, Chen Feng had a slight smile on his lips. In front of him, the Inferior Demon squatted on the whale’s head, issuing commands as they traveled.
The Inferior Demon was becoming more childlike!
A Divine Monster deserves its rank in all dimensions. If Chen Feng hadn’t personally created the Inferior Demon, even he couldn’t confirm what lay beneath that cute facade—a decaying body!
However, the Inferior Demon rarely transformed into its second form now. It only resorted to its bizarre transformation ability when encountering formidable foes. Otherwise, it mostly played the role of a true lady.
Of course, sometimes this lady was quite wild!
Maybe sensing something, the Inferior Demon suddenly turned around. Seeing Chen Feng’s smiling face, it sprinted towards him!
What enviable perceptual abilities!
It only took a glance to sense someone watching. The Inferior Demon’s strength had significantly improved compared to before, but it was uncertain when it might reach Half-Step Epic.
"Master... I don’t want to go back to the Abyss... Can I stay here with you a little longer?" The Inferior Demon hugged Chen Feng’s right leg, acting like a child who didn’t want to attend school, as it asked Chen Feng.
Chen Feng habitually patted the Inferior Demon’s head. In the fortress built by him and Flora, the Inferior Demon played a very transparent role. Most of the time, Flora took charge of everything, while the Inferior Demon either ate or slept. For it, being anywhere was the same.
"All right, if you don’t want to go back, you can stay here. But you have to behave, no running around, and no eating random things." Chen Feng’s tone became gentle.
In a world filled with deceit and trickery, interacting with monsters turned out to be easier, especially with the Inferior Demon. It might harbor hostility towards anyone but never bore any malice towards Chen Feng. In a way, Chen Feng had gotten used to having it by his side.
No one likes loneliness.
The lively Inferior Demon undeniably brought Chen Feng some long-lost joy.
"Yay, the master is the best!" Receiving a response, the Inferior Demon happily rubbed its nose against Chen Feng’s trousers. To it, nothing was more pleasing than staying by Chen Feng’s side. If anything could surpass that, it would be staying for a little longer.
If everything went well, Chen Feng would soon return to Order, and he needed to endure a period of monotonous sailing during these days.
As for Lu Wei, Chen Feng had arranged for him to stay at the broken plane, combining rest with helping probe if living conditions on the plane could stabilize. After all, the transit point might transport live beings in the future, and Chen Feng didn’t want people going in standing and coming out lying.
No sun umbrellas, no cool drinks, just the company of the Inferior Demon and the Legendary Giant Whale. Fortunately, Chen Feng had the patience, and he planned to use this time for another retreat.
Chen Feng attempted to refine his soul!
Just like the broken plane extracted energy from the void, expelling impurities and retaining the most valuable part!
This retreat went by in a blink of three days. During these days, Chen Feng neither ate nor drank, maintaining an absolutely calm state. If it weren’t for the slight rise and fall of his chest, an ordinary person might even think he had fainted long ago.
And just when Chen Feng attempted to retreat directly to Order, an anomaly arose. A dense stench suddenly emanated from somewhere nearby.
Even in his no-thought state, Chen Feng felt this intense decaying smell, and out of helplessness, he opened his eyes, seeing the surroundings shrouded in gray mist, sea fog appearing, the Legendary Giant Whale’s speed lagging, and it seemed to sense something, and it moved cautiously. Meanwhile, the Inferior Demon curiously gazed forward, occasionally taking a deep breath, then smacking its lips, its brows furrowing, evidently displeased by the unusual odors.
"What’s going on?" Chen Feng asked.
"Oh, master, you’re awake?" Seeing Chen Feng awake, the Inferior Demon hurried to his side, speaking crisply, "Not sure what happened, suddenly these smells emerged, and the Inferior Demon doesn’t like them, especially the smell is awful!"
The smell wafted from the front, and vaguely one could see land joined ahead, with distinct structures on it.
A survivor base?
Chen Feng harbored some suspicions, ordering the Legendary Giant Whale to move forward. Hearing the command, the whale hastened its pace, sailing towards the front.
However, as they advanced, the stench in the void intensified, and just as Chen Feng could make out the buildings’ outlines, his pupils suddenly contracted into fine lines.
Zombies!
Zombies everywhere!
Countless zombies crowded the coast, their appearances horrifying, bodies decaying, like a hoard of unsalvageable Undead, roaming freely on the shore.
Counting them, even just the zombies on the coast surpassed ten thousand; a bizarre virus had humans as its main victims. Chen Feng naturally wasn’t unfamiliar with zombies, but the puzzling part for him was the condition of these zombies!
Currently, two years had passed since the apocalypse. If they were previous zombies, their clothes would have weathered over the years, and even their skin and appearance would have undergone a second mutation, turning into mummies due to weather exposure. Gradual transformation would occur.
However, now, the clothes on these zombies remained intact, and more shockingly, the skin on them still had some elasticity. This signified that these ten thousand zombies weren’t a product of the apocalypse but had just recently mutated.
What, after two years of apocalypse, caused such a considerable survivor base to become a zombie haven?
And this was what left Chen Feng utterly bewildered!
