Abyss Summoner
Chapter 888 - 859: Deep into the Heartland
Chapter 888: Chapter 859: Deep into the Heartland
Skills are specialized.
In dealing with the Undead beings, Chen Feng naturally has more professional talents. Ethereal, overlapping summoning sounds emerged from Chen Feng’s mouth, and then a pallid figure descended upon the spine of the Legendary Giant Whale.
It had been a while since they last met, and Saruman’s aura had become somewhat unusual. Previously, the opponent had the body of a Lich, exuding a withered aura all over.
But now, that twilight sense of decay had weakened significantly, replaced by a terrifying chill on his body. Standing on the spine of the Legendary Giant Whale, visible to the naked eye, circles of cold dispersed from his body, and just within seconds, the surrounding temperature dropped by several degrees.
Moreover, Saruman’s features became more pronounced!
His hair was white and untended, appearing quite disheveled, his face marked by trench-like wrinkles, giving a single glance the impression that his body was filled with stories.
Saruman continued to wear a decent robe, standing with a straight back, like a school principal.
Previously, Saruman resembled more of a corpse, and now, for some unknown reason, Chen Feng unexpectedly sensed a touch of life from him.
An illusion?
Chen Feng furrowed his brows; at his level, any slight changes were discernible, so the truth was only one: something transformative indeed happened to Saruman’s being!
The opponent seemed more like a human!
An Undead possessing human-like aura.
What could be crazier than this?
The land where the Demigod Mummy self-destructed seemed to have granted him a kind of transformation. From Legendary to Epic, it’s undoubtedly a dangerous and rugged path, a single misstep may lead one to an Abyss with no return.
Precisely because of this, every Legend tiptoes to explore their own path, of course, there are shortcuts to everything in this world.
In pursuit of safely traversing this path to nurturing power, all are searching for such shortcuts, like the Blazing Demon relying on divinity, Chen Feng relying on the altar, while Saruman relies on the self-destruct aura left by the Demigod Mummy.
Using others as stepping stones to reach one’s coveted path, this is the so-called shortcut!
"I need you to pave a road free from interference for me," Chen Feng said to Saruman.
Loitering along the shore was merely a group of low-tier zombies, and even amidst the slaughter, there lay some evolved zombies, but to Chen Feng, they were no different from a swarm of locusts.
However, too many locusts can make one feel nauseous, and Chen Feng didn’t wish to be covered in foul blood when exploring.
Saruman nodded; he seemed to consistently hold a grudge against being summoned, maintaining zero communication with his master Chen Feng, but Chen Feng had long gotten used to this behavior from him. Do you chit-chat with the wrench at home for no reason? As long as the tool works, nothing else matters.
Chen Feng ordered the Legendary Giant Whale to approach the shore, though the beast was unwilling, it dared not defy Chen Feng’s command, carrying everyone towards the coastline.
"Woo woo..."
The scent of fresh flesh made the zombies suddenly become agitated, clawing forward, some even leaping into the sea, attempting to savor the delicacies ahead.
Yet, swimming skills are absent from the zombie curriculum.
The zombies leaped down like dumplings, falling into the sea, but without swimming ability, they quickly sank to the bottom, disappearing without a trace.
Zombies, though toxic, encounter a group of predators in the deep sea who endure darkness and solitude, capable of savouring the frightful zombies like appetizers.
However, when these rampaging zombies met Saruman, they transformed from rabid hounds to docile rabbits. A blue, mist-like fog suddenly arose around Saruman as he spread his arms, and as the zombies touched the mist, no longer did they roar or howl; instead, they paused quietly and motionlessly.
With Saruman nearby, ordinary zombies posed no threat.
Chen Feng lightly patted the Inferior Demon’s head and softly said, "Follow your instincts and find your tasty treats."
The Inferior Demon nodded, then stepped forward.
There were clear signs of human habitation here; Chen Feng even saw remnants of a school and park. However, now the school had become a gathering place for the dead, many children wandering unconsciously on the playground.
Zombies aren’t completely devoid of awareness; within their remaining, albeit feeble intelligence, they have the habit of lingering where they stayed in life.
The school’s zombies were mostly incomplete; they were once treasures in their parents’ palms, but now they’ve turned into flesh-eating Demons, lingering at the school gates. Gazing at the playground bathed in sunlight, once filled with laughter but now turned into a true Purgatory.
Chen Feng and his party advanced further, here existed signs of advanced civilization; besides schools, even some malls had been established. Apparently, after some development, this place formulated its own industry.
Yet imagine, after enduring despair and tragedy, a group established a faction here, attempting to build a Utopia of their own. Given more time, who knows, they might truly restore the semblance of peacetime!
Nevertheless, all efforts were abruptly halted by a sudden catastrophe; peace’s glory will never again appear here, because everyone is dead!
"Gurgle."
Some strange noises caught Chen Feng’s attention.
Just as he surveyed the surroundings, suddenly a metal rod was thrown towards them, followed by dozens of monsters rushing out from behind the houses. These creatures, with human-like outlines but incredibly stout like Grizzlies, towered at two to two and a half meters, moving swiftly, filled with wild and fierce looks, howling as they charged forward as if intent on slaughtering Chen Feng’s entire group.
Saruman’s Barrier still engulfed the surroundings. If they were zombies, they’d naturally be affected and dare not tread carelessly. But these creatures that appeared suddenly were different; they sprinted swiftly, raising heavy objects at hand to smash towards Chen Feng, uninfluenced, indicating they weren’t zombies.
Unlike the decaying bodies of zombies, their eyes were blood red, even showing distinct anger, implying something else—on this land, void of survivors, beyond the zombies, there exists a group of true monsters?
