Chapter 889 - 860: Sending Corpses to Scout the Way
Chapter 889: Chapter 860: Sending Corpses to Scout the Way
"It’s alive!"
Chen Feng instantly identified the opponent as a living entity, not an ordinary zombie. Their power hovered between Silver and Silver Peak, making them true warriors even within the Order!
They appeared extremely frenzied; although they exhibited signs of life, their aura matched that of zombies, with a crimson tint around their mouths, clearly indicating they were interrupted during a meal. The interruption fueled their fury against Chen Feng and his team!
"Bang!"
With a loud crash, an unexpected event occurred. The iron rod previously thrown by the opponent was caught by the Inferior Demon. The inertia and impact combined to make the iron rod weigh a thousand pounds, yet this did not cause the Inferior Demon to retreat even a step.
The Inferior Demon tilted its head, looking at the monsters charging at them, pursed its lips, and muttered annoyedly, "Disturbing Inferior Demon finding good food, damn it!"
After saying this, the Inferior Demon, with short steps, charged forward. Facing a group of giant men averaging two and a half meters, the Inferior Demon resembled a frail little puppy but showed no sign of fear. Instead, it angrily raised the iron rod in its hand and swung it at the opponents!
"Crash!"
The iron rod instantly collided with the monsters, but it wasn’t the monsters that broke; it was the rod itself, bending as if striking a solid stone pillar. The monsters staggered backward a few steps from the inertia, nothing more.
"This doesn’t seem like the defense Silver Tier should have." Chen Feng frowned. Although these monsters were Silver Tier in power, their defense was comparable to Golden Tier strongmen.
Where did these monsters come from?
This piqued Chen Feng’s curiosity. Observing the detailed features of these monsters, both male and female, he suddenly sensed a dense wave of energy from them.
Professionals?
Indeed, they had the energy unique to professionals!
In such an apocalyptic setting, ordinary people couldn’t erect such a sanctuary; there was definitely a professional backing within this force.
Along the journey, most of the zombies Chen Feng encountered were of ordinary rank; advanced zombies were rare. He initially thought these zombies were entrenched in the inner city, but seeing this now, he realized he only guessed half right. The professionals indeed resided in the inner city, but they had turned into these kinds of monsters, not zombies.
The monsters were formidable, their massive flesh bursting from within with crackling bones, necks twisted mechanically, gaze fixed on Chen Feng and his team without any fear, fueled by a mad charge.
They looked like starving wolves eyeing delicious prey, glowing with a savage hunger.
Their bodies were robust, evidently Silver, yet didn’t fall short of Golden Tier physique. This feeling was reminiscent of Chen Feng facing the Earth Dragon, as if these were no longer humans but brutish, fearsome beasts!
The Inferior Demon grabbed the iron rod and swiftly counterattacked, seemingly failing to deter these monsters. Moreover, the Inferior Demon’s tender appearance incited their deepest brutality, charging ahead with a desire to tear the Inferior Demon in half.
But, while idealistic, reality remained stark.
Sounds of tearing filled the air.
The Inferior Demon displayed remarkable destructive power, akin to the strength of a polar bear for a child of his apparent age.
Legendary.
Demonic.
Any title far surpassed ordinary monsters. As the enraged monsters reached the Inferior Demon, those pearly arms calmly extended, and just like tearing lettuce, grabbing the opponent’s thick arm and swiftly pulling, it snapped into two.
The monsters were terrifying, but the Inferior Demon evidently outmatched them.
The battle didn’t last long; it was over in less than five minutes, leaving the monsters sprawled across the ground.
Blood spilled over the land, scattered with severed limbs; prolonged exposure to such scenes might warp one’s psyche.
However, Chen Feng and Saruman were accustomed to this, especially the latter, who spent days amongst corpses, even being one himself. This scene was merely trivial.
Yet, this served as a reminder for Chen Feng: the situation was more complex than anticipated.
Yet it didn’t deter Chen Feng’s progress. For adventurers, encountering issues during the quest for treasure was inevitable; escaping was futile. They needed to proceed with heightened caution.
Afterward, Chen Feng discovered that this sanctuary housed more than just previous monsters during exploration, encountering several waves of professionally mutated monsters.
Their movements were identical, plunging into frenzy upon seeing flesh, furiously attacking Chen Feng. Among these enemies was even a legendary mutation.
The opponent exceeded four meters in height, making it difficult to define them as human since, in a sense, they had become a true giant.
The legendary monster wielded a lamppost as a weapon, its swing akin to a roller coaster in an amusement park, instilling despair.
Confronting such an opponent, Chen Feng didn’t remain idle. Combined with the Inferior Demon, they managed to kill them. However, to quickly conclude the battle, Chen Feng used blazing Flame Power, incinerating it to the point of being unsummonable—a minor regret.
Chen Feng remembered the purpose of their journey here.
Their goal was to find "good food."
Following the Inferior Demon’s instincts, after an hour and a half amidst numerous attacks, the Inferior Demon finally halted before the entry to an abandoned factory.
From the factory sign still visible, it was originally a mechanical parts processing factory, now long deserted, far from the previous town, resembling a slum, entirely different from an hour ago.
The previously seen park and school felt like wealthy zones, while here was filthy and foul-smelling. Even the zombies were emaciated and raggedly dressed.
Without too much contemplation, Chen Feng imagined a group of desolate, pitiful individuals living here. Surprisingly, a base contained two distinctly different classes, which should be impossible in terms of Order!
Is the good food inside?
Gazing at the slightly open factory gate, Chen Feng pondered for a moment and nodded at Saruman.
Understanding, Saruman gestured, prompting nearby zombies to shuffle slowly inside. It’s best to be cautious; Chen Feng aimed to send the dead out for scouting!
