Chapter 492: Chapter 19: Beast King, Ghost Element

WHOOSH!!

The pitch-black night sky suddenly lit up. Grenades trailing fiery tails tore through the sky, crashing into the fortress’s high walls!

BOOM BOOM BOOM!!

The sound of vibrations echoed all around as shallow craters were blasted into the concrete walls of Fortress Mountain City. Cracks spread; stone debris flew into the air.

The Red River Army commander in charge of Mountain City’s defense line drastically changed his expression, hastily looking toward the source of the howitzers.

WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH!!

Dozens of grenades lined the sky, resembling a fiery red rainbow. By the light of the glowing exhaust flames, he looked down at the mountain forest below.

“Kill!!”

“Slaughter these scumbags!!”

“Brothers, charge with me!!”

The roaring battle cries shook the forest and trembled the earth.

Without anyone noticing, a dense, overwhelming army of the Alliance Country had appeared in the cliffs and jungles below the fortress.

RAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT!

Bullets poured out like rain. Crowds of fully armed soldiers in camouflage uniforms charged straight at Fortress Mountain City, their machine guns spitting tongues of fire. Others hoisted rocket-propelled grenade launchers, firing volleys in unison.

Amidst the SWISH SWISH SWISH of projectiles piercing the air, over a dozen armored vehicles suddenly burst from the ranks of the army. Acting as an advance force, they coordinated with the Superpower squads to launch a siege.

“Damn it!”

Witnessing this scene, the Red River Army commander stationed on the fortress wall looked awful. He snatched off his hat and hurled it to the ground, urgently ordering his subordinates to return fire and intercept the enemy while simultaneously reporting the situation to the interior of Mountain City.

“Sir, look!”

A subordinate’s panicked voice rang out. The sentry in the watchtower had actually stumbled and fallen, thoroughly terrified.

The commander instinctively wanted to scold him. However.

WHIR WHIR WHIR!!

The sound of rotors pierced the sky, bringing gusts of fierce wind to their faces.

Several helicopters tore through the night sky, appearing above the Alliance Country army. They headed straight for Fortress Mountain City, their missiles seemingly loaded and ready to fire.

Red and blue lights flashed in midair as thick searchlight beams pierced the darkness, illuminating the battalion headquarters on the fortress wall. Looking closely, it was shockingly several hovercars joining the battlefield.

SWISH SWISH!!

“Damn it!” The warlord commander was utterly shocked and furious, feeling a chill run through his entire body.

In his line of sight, the hovercars and combat helicopters successively launched missiles, blasting straight toward Mountain City.

BOOM BOOM BOOM!!

The shockwaves tearing through the sky stung their eyes as the missile bombardment continued relentlessly. The roar of artillery fire wreaked havoc, trembling the earth of Mountain City and blowing crater after crater into the sturdy walls.

A dense storm of fiery bullets rose, pouring down on the ground like crimson raindrops.

Having narrowly escaped death in the shaking, collapsing walls, the warlord commander stood up. Covered in grime and looking thoroughly battered, he staggered forward.

His eardrums buzzed, and his mind went blank. He looked blankly to the left and right of the city wall.

A unit belonging to the Red Flame Army had appeared at some unknown point. They opened the city gates, welcoming the Alliance Country troops into the city.

Seeing this scene, he collapsed to his knees with a thud, his face deathly pale.

“It’s over!”

…

Inside the stone blockhouse.

THUD!!

A head with wide, staring eyes was trampled into the floor. Kuicheng’s headless corpse suddenly dropped to its knees, blood constantly geysering from its neck.

Standing there with his blade in hand, Lu Chao looked like a god of death. His cold, piercing gaze swept over every commander in the stone blockhouse.

“You…”

Someone, furious and terrified, struggled to speak through a trembling voice.

Outside, heaven-shaking battle cries rang out alongside the continuous, thunderous roar of artillery fire, pounding as if striking directly into the depths of their hearts.

Starting today, would this place be taken over by the Alliance Country? Had the Alliance Country’s army already broken in?

Stunned, bewildered, and horrified… the warlord commanders froze in place as an inexplicable trace of fear rose within them. Even Chief Lu Weilong suffered a momentary lapse in concentration.

“Kill him!”

SWISH!!

At that exact moment, having witnessed the death of his younger brother, Kui Wu’s eyes went mad. He instantly closed the distance, lunging right in front of Lu Chao.

“Kill him, and Mountain City remains Mountain City!

“General Lu will still be the leader of Mountain City!”

BOOM!!

White arcs of light erupted. He was actually an Armored Transformer.

The patterns on his neck flashed with energy, and the roaring sound of some kind of engine burst from his chest.

In that brief instant, his fists suddenly lit up like the sun. Gathering ringed magnetic light, he smashed them toward Lu Chao’s heart.

BOOM!!

Shockwaves exploded, and turbulent winds rolled back, shaking the building.

CRACK CRACK CRACK! Fissures spread across the floor, causing the trembling stone blockhouse to sway once again.

And yet.

Under the watchful gaze of everyone present, Lu Chao stood firmly in place, completely unmoved. He didn’t even cast a glance at his attacker, keeping his eyes entirely locked on the murderously intent Lu Weilong and Ao’Er by the windows and walls.

In front of Lu Chao stood a figure.

HUM!!

Crimson flames danced and swirled as a black general’s coat fluttered wildly.

“Chen Junhao!” Kui Wu bellowed in anger, staring ahead with a face full of killing intent.

Chen Junhao’s arms were covered in flames. His hands hovered in the air, steadily catching the incoming Fist Seal.

“Kui Wu.”

His face was completely apathetic, flames rising and twirling around the corners of both his eyes. Staring intently at Kui Wu, Chen Junhao slowly curled his fingers into claws, tightly gripping the incoming fists.

“Don’t get in the way.”

SNAP!

BANG!!

Kui Wu, someone near the Peak Exploration Level, had the bones in his arms fractured and his fists blown apart.

Scorching heat erupted violently before Chen Junhao threw a punch straight through Kui Wu’s chest.

“You…”

Kui Wu’s eyes went wide. Blood rapidly spilled from the corners of his mouth as he stared dead at his opponent. It seemed he had never imagined he would one day die at this man’s hands.

Without a word, Chen Junhao merely watched his face grow increasingly red, taking note of his bulging, scalding crimson veins.

HUM! BANG!!

The body exploded, completely obliterating Kui Wu’s upper half.

High-temperature flames seemed to detonate his flesh, melting the flying blood, gore, and bone fragments mid-air.

This sight made every warlord commander’s eyelids twitch wildly, a shudder running through their hearts. Looking over, they saw the scorched remains of Kui Wu’s lower half slowly slump to the ground.

Opposite the corpse, intense flames continued to manifest, spreading from Chen Junhao’s arms to cover his entire body. Like a human torch, he slowly withdrew his fist. The surrounding air distorted and evaporated, constantly letting out a sizzling noise.

“I want to kill him with my own hands,” he said in a low voice. His gaze moved past the corpse on the floor and locked onto the ice-cold face of Lu Weilong across the room.

This was one of the conditions for his cooperation with the Alliance Country.

“Alright.”

Nodding, Lu Chao stepped forward to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with him. The muscles on his right arm, holding the Ink Blade, expanded inch by inch, causing the air to vibrate and hum.

The two of them seemed to disregard every warlord commander around them. Their eyes held only Lu Weilong and Ao’Er.

Such a scene left everyone momentarily dazed.

Except for one.

“What arrogance.”

BOOM!!

Qi Flame erupted, shattering the ground.

Lu Weilong’s Qi Flame was unusually condensed, flowing around his body like liquid silver alloy. His invisible aura trembled the air, causing everyone’s eardrums to buzz and forcefully isolating the sounds of artillery fire outside to the point they were hard to hear.

“Merely two at the Exploration Level, and you want to kill me?”

His eyes brimmed with murderous intent. Two of his trusted confidants had been killed consecutively, and Mountain City was being invaded by the Alliance Country’s army. It was obvious that the momentum had entirely shifted against him.

But even so, he intended to capture these two to make the Alliance army and the Red Flame Army hesitate out of fear for their safety.

“Indeed,” said Ao’Er. His tone was gloomy and cold as he stepped away from the window.

Black Qi Flame swirled from his body, blossoming with an imposing Transcendence Level aura no weaker than Lu Weilong’s, cracking the stone floor slabs with a SNAP.

He stared intensely at Lu Chao and Chen Junhao, his pitch-black eyes full of killing intent. “You expect to shake us with just two at the Exploration Level?

“Even if the army breaches the city, so what? For us, it just means killing a few more people.”

He spoke intentionally, letting his voice reach the ears of the warlord commanders to stabilize their wavering resolves. A Superpower User at the Transcendence Level was powerful enough to directly clash with a fully armed military force equipped with tanks and armored vehicles.

If their Chief teamed up with this powerhouse from the Rebels, then…

“You talk too much.”

SWISH!!

The sound of piercing the air reverberated across the sky.

Lu Chao and Chen Junhao moved simultaneously, launching a joint attack at Lu Weilong.

One drew his blade, bringing forth a black crescent as if to split the sky and shatter the earth. The other erupted like a volcano, his fists gathering explosive, evaporating heat.

Both completely ignored the warlord commanders, not even acknowledging the Transcendence Level Ao’Er.

This blatant disregard made Ao’Er’s eyes turn even colder. With a cold snort, he suddenly attacked.

BOOM!!

His black Qi Flame solidified into a palm, striking through the air. He intended to rely on his overwhelming Transcendence Level power, joining forces with Lu Weilong to suppress and kill Lu Chao and Chen Junhao.

BANG!!

A muffled explosion rang out, shaking the sky.

Shockwaves plowed through the ground, scattering in all directions. Every warlord commander looked on with profound shock. In their vision, Lu Chao and Chen Junhao were knocked back by the Palm Seal, vomiting blood as they flew backward.

“How weak.”

Ao’Er sneered. He took a step, preparing to follow up with a killing blow.

However, in the very next moment.

“Are you crazy!!”

A furious roar suddenly echoed, vibrating eardrums and tearing at nerves.

Ao’Er’s expression shifted slightly. Ripples waved across his vision, and the scene before him abruptly changed.

Lu Chao and Chen Junhao, who were supposed to have been injured and coughing blood, were actually locked in a fierce clash with Lu Weilong. One was swinging a blade, forcing their target to raise an arm to block, while the other threw a Flame Bombardment Fist to contend head-on in strength.

At the center of it all.

Lu Weilong looked awful, his military-green coat slightly torn. The encroaching black glow was currently being dispelled by his silver Qi Flame, as if Ao’Er’s previous strike had landed squarely on him instead.

“This…” Ao’Er frowned, sharply sensing that something was wrong.

The next second.

“Meow~~”

Yan Zhengfeng and the others paused in surprise. Ji Lanhua, who was holding Ghost Element, looked down.

The black cat, which he had always assumed was a harmless, ordinary Mutant Beast, leaped out of his arms and landed on the floor. Its ruby-amber eyes were unusually bright, seemingly concealing some kind of invisible power.

“It was you?” Ao’Er’s pupils shrank as he suddenly sensed a familiar aura.

Before he could recover his senses.

ROAR!!!

A beast’s roar echoed, shaking Mountain City.

BANG BANG BANG BANG!!

The windows of the stone blockhouse exploded outward. The stone floor tiles and walls cracked and shattered into fine powder.

Bleeding from their eardrums, every warlord commander suffered a violent Spiritual Shock. Their faces turned deathly pale as they stumbled and fell.

Ao’Er’s body jerked violently. As if struck by an invisible sledgehammer, he flew backward.

BANG!!

The stone wall collapsed, leaving behind a human-shaped hole as he was blasted out into the dark night.

In the cat’s original spot.

A cloud of black fog blossomed, completely enveloping the stone blockhouse. Lantern-sized, vertical crimson pupils, teeming with cruelty and ferocity, looked down upon the surroundings.
