Chapter 1486 -32: German-Austrian Military Intervention (Part 2)

And this time Rudolph personally visited Berlin because he believed that continuing to be timid like this was very unfavorable for both countries.

Thus, after a new round of discussion between the two governments, in early October 1921, the German and Austria-Hungary armies crossed the border into Ukraine and Poland among other regions.

At this time, the southern Russian army was already approaching the banks of the Dnieper River and controlled several strongholds along the western bank, such as Yekaterinoslav and other cities.

On the northern front, the Russians had completely occupied the eastern Belarus region, but the Polish government’s resolve to resist was clearly higher than that of Ukraine.

Especially the Polish nationalists, who had managed to achieve Poland’s rebirth through World War I, although the final results were not very satisfying, such as the large territories east of Warsaw being further annexed by Germany, but gaining Belarus as compensation was not bad.

Therefore, facing Russia’s intent to re-annex Poland, although the Germans were not likable, they were the best choice for the Poles now.

With the German and Austria-Hungary armies making large advances into Eastern Europe again, the governments of the Eastern European countries, which had been on the verge of collapse, regained confidence to continue their resistance against Russia.

For a moment, the Eastern European region seemed to revert back to the era of World War I, with Austria-Hungary, Germany, and Russia competing again on the Eastern European plains.

…

The upheaval in Eastern Europe can be said to have grabbed the attention of other countries, and East Africa, thousands of miles away, was naturally no exception.

In the capital, Rhein City, East African officials engaged in heated discussions about the current situation in Eastern Europe.

“Germany and Austria-Hungary were too sluggish. If they had intervened and laid out strategies for Eastern Europe a few months earlier, they wouldn’t be in such an embarrassing situation now.”

“Perhaps it’s not about them doing poorly, but rather Russia’s actions being beyond our expectations. In reality, the combat effectiveness of Russian troops is not much different from that of Tsarist Russia’s era, but their battlefield performance shows completely different results.”

“Well said. Nowadays, the Russian army’s weapon and equipment level is even inferior to the Tsarist Russia era, including their troop numbers. It’s fair to say that the personnel of today’s Russian army doesn’t differ much from that of the Tsarist Russia army, but their performance is significantly better than during the Tsarist Russia era.”

It’s inevitable that today’s Russian army’s equipment level is lower than in the Tsarist era.

After all, during the Tsarist Russia era, Russia’s territory was much more complete, leading to a more comprehensive industry, but after the World War, Russia lost significant areas, causing inevitable gaps in its industrial capacity, especially in the Ukraine region, which Russia is now reclaiming as its industrial area.

During the Russian Civil War, the original Russian nobility, capitalists, and other reactionary forces, in order to counter the Russian Labor Party, caused extensive destruction to Russian factories and machinery, with many technical personnel and experts fleeing abroad, further damaging Russia’s industry.

Furthermore, the industrial losses during the civil war surpassed those in the World War, particularly the loss of important production materials and the emigration of a large number of talents, which greatly negatively impacted Russia’s already weak industrial system.

East Africa played a role in this, having obtained a large amount of advanced equipment and high-quality talent from Russia, making it one of the biggest beneficiaries of the Tsarist Russia collapse.

Finally, the comprehensive blockade of Russia by imperialist countries also played a major role, preventing Russia from acquiring some high-end equipment and components it had relied on importing previously, which obviously hindered Russia’s industrial development in the short term.

Of course, from a long-term perspective, this blockade forced Russia to push for localization of equipment and technology, which is beneficial for improving Russia’s own research and technology level. Therefore, the International Community’s blockade of Russia has both advantages and disadvantages.

However, no matter what, the current setback in Russia’s military industrial quality is unavoidable, and this will clearly affect the combat capability of the Russian troops on the front lines.

Apart from setbacks in weaponry and equipment, the Russian army also faces personnel problems, especially the lack of professional officers. After the Russian Labor Party came to power, it inevitably purged some personnel within the original Russian army, which undoubtedly led to a decline in Russian military combat effectiveness.

Therefore, East African officials’ evaluation of Russia isn’t biased but is indeed factual, yet despite being a unit with declining combat effectiveness, it performs quite well on the current Eastern European battlefield, which is certainly noteworthy.

“In my view, this might not be due to the strength of the Russian army, but rather the weakness of the Ukrainian and Polish armies, which resulted in it. The Ukrainian and Polish government armies themselves do not possess the capability to fight Russia.”

“The Ukrainian and Polish armies also inherited from Tsarist Russia, showing a significant gap with Russia in numbers, equipment, logistics, etc., after all, Russia is the main successor to Tsarist Russia.”

“Furthermore, internal issues within the Ukrainian and Polish governments are quite serious, and their level of national governance is the principal reason for the chaos in the Eastern European situation, even the fundamental cause.”

“Take contrasting Ukraine and Poland; the situation within the Ukrainian government is clearly more severe than Poland’s, which led to continuous civilian movements and riots in Ukraine after the outbreak of the war.”

“Comparatively, the situation in Poland, especially for non-Belarus regions, is much better in terms of living conditions for the populace, so Polish civilians are more supportive of the government countering the Russian Labor Party.”

This is essentially because Polish nationalist consciousness has matured, unlike Ukraine. Ukraine has a large number of Russians, and many Ukrainians themselves are pro-Russia, only in the Western Ukraine region are the Ukrainian people’s attitudes toward dealing with Russia more resolute.

“However, since the intervention of Germany and Austria-Hungary, the Eastern European situation should stabilize, unless Russia intends to start another world war.”

“I don’t quite believe so, as the Russian Labor Party is a very radical political organization, who knows what they’ll do next! This war was much like this; Russia essentially fought without declaring war, catching all Eastern European countries off guard.”

“Moreover, judging by the series of decisions after the Russian Labor Party came to power, it’s very unorderly, so accurately predicting Russia’s next moves is uncertain.”

Sometimes, being disorderly may not be a bad thing, after all, not all rules are good, if people only adhered strictly to rules, then human society might still linger in the era of slavery unable to progress.

The work style of the Russian Labor Party indeed appears unfavorable in the eyes of imperialist countries, but for the impoverished majority of the population from the original Tsarist Russia, the Russian Labor Party is their savior. Otherwise, why would they support the Russian Labor Party?

Of course, some might say the Russian Labor Party is just misleading the mindless Russian populace, but this conclusion is clearly untenable, at least not wholly.

After all, the Russian populace isn’t entirely foolish, the Tsarist government promised them countless dreams, yet very few were actually fulfilled, leading to declining trustworthiness, which was one of the significant reasons for Tsarist Russia’s collapse, and this is a problem that almost any country developing cannot avoid.

Therefore, at this stage, the Russian Labor Party represents the voice and interests of the majority of Russians, it’s the Russian populace that propelled the Russian Labor Party to the forefront; as for future matters, let’s deal with them in the future.

“The infiltration and incitement capabilities of the Russian Labor Party are the primary reasons for the Eastern European situation’s rapid reversal, with a significant portion of Ukrainian riots orchestrated by the labor party. Ukraine’s government incompetence allowed the Russian Labor Party vast development space, leading to comprehensive degradation of the situation.”

“We should learn from Ukraine’s situation, whether to prevent foreign influence on our national discourse and ideological domains, or to guard against Russia’s ideological weapons within our spheres of influence, it holds great significance.”

Currently, East Africa is one of the main countries confronting Russia, especially after the inclusion of northern Persia within East Africa’s sphere of influence, which formally means East Africa has direct interactions with the Russian Labor Party.

Moreover, Russia, in modern times, has long impacted northern Persia regions, and adjacent Central Asia is one of Russia’s major expansion directions, so East Africa must prevent a repeat of the Eastern European events in the Middle East region, as East Africa is now a main player in the Middle East.
