After a Flash Marriage With a Billionaire, My Brothers Are Begging for My Forgiveness!
Chapter 130: My Dear
Chapter 130: Chapter 130: My Dear
At the mention of Sheila Whitaker’s name, Sienna Everett paused. A sharp glint flashed through her luminous eyes, like a flicker of light on a placid lake at dawn, before they returned to their rippleless calm.
"I’m not seeing her. Tell the front desk to have her leave."
Sienna Everett’s tone was as placid as water.
Stella Shaw completely understood Sienna Everett’s feelings about her so-called biological mother and relayed her exact words to the front desk.
「First-Floor Lobby.」
After hearing the message from the receptionist, Sheila Whitaker’s lipsticked mouth fell slightly open, her disbelief palpable.
’Sienna Everett refused to see her?’
’She was Sienna Everett’s mother, her elder! She had humbled herself by coming to find her, and Sienna wouldn’t even see her?’
Sheila Whitaker didn’t need a mirror to know the look on her face was anything but pleasant. Gritting her teeth, she strode out of the Sovereign Entertainment building in her high heels.
Sheila Whitaker didn’t go far. Spotting a phone carrier’s store nearby and happening to have her ID in her purse, she quickly went in and got a new phone number.
Then, Sheila Whitaker used the new number to call Sienna Everett’s phone.
The call connected almost immediately. A polite, distant voice answered, "Hello, who is this?"
Sheila Whitaker suppressed her fury and hissed, "Sienna Everett! How dare you treat your own mother—"
She had barely gotten the words out when the line went dead with a CLICK.
Sheila Whitaker froze for two seconds before pulling the phone from her ear in disbelief. Seeing the disconnected call, her meticulously made-up expression seemed to crack, the thick foundation failing to conceal her shock and indignation.
Refusing to accept it, Sheila Whitaker dialed the new number again.
A moment later, a notification showed that Sienna Everett had blocked the number!
Her new number was blocked too!
Sheila Whitaker was so furious she nearly fainted. Her chest felt tight, suffocating. With a dark expression, she threw her phone back into her purse.
Beyond her anger, a strange, complex feeling of bleak sadness washed over Sheila Whitaker.
’How had things between her and her own daughter come to this?’
Clutching her handbag, Sheila Whitaker looked up at the Sovereign Entertainment building. After a moment of hesitation, she decided to wait right there for Sienna Everett.
’Sienna Everett couldn’t possibly stay in the office forever.’
’As long as Sienna Everett came out of the building, she would get to see her.’
...
「Stella Shaw’s Office.」
Stella Shaw glanced over at Sienna Everett on the sofa a few times. Seeing that her mood was normal and she seemed unaffected by Sheila Whitaker, Stella finally relaxed.
’In Stella Shaw’s opinion, someone like Sheila Whitaker didn’t deserve to be a mother.’
Just then, the office door was pushed open.
Keith Sterling rushed in, beaming with excitement. "Sis— Sierra! I really have to thank you this time! It’s all thanks to you that I was able to lock down Roger Shields!"
Seeing Stella Shaw was there, Keith Sterling had shrewdly swallowed the "sister-in-law" that was on the tip of his tongue.
The corners of Sienna Everett’s eyes lifted slightly. Her brilliant face, full of life and a hint of wild spirit, lit up. "The contract with Roger Shields is signed?"
Keith Sterling made an "OK" gesture. "Signed! It’s finally a done deal. That Mason Everett has no way of poaching Roger Shields now! It’s all thanks to you, Sierra. You’re the hero of the hour!"
Keith Sterling had just finished speaking when Evan Shelby strode in, clapping him on the shoulder. "Aren’t you forgetting to thank someone?"
Evan Shelby wasn’t an artist with Sovereign Entertainment, but seeing that Sienna Everett was coming over, he had tagged along to tour her agency.
Keith Sterling rolled his eyes, speechless. "What does this have to do with you? Why are you trying to take credit?"
Evan Shelby went TSK. "No matter how you slice it, I’m the owner of G.Y. I gave away that ’Chinese rose’ gown for free. Don’t you think you should thank me?"
A cool, thin smile touched Keith Sterling’s lips as he deliberately provoked him. "And what if I don’t thank you? What are you going to do about it?"
Completely unruffled, Evan Shelby looked at Sienna Everett on the sofa and asked with a smile, "Darling, isn’t there an idiom about tearing down the bridge after you’ve crossed the river?"
Before Sienna Everett could speak, Keith Sterling, ever fiercely protective of his brother, frowned. ’There he goes again with the ’darling’.’
Keith Sterling’s long eyes narrowed, his dashing, handsome face issuing a clear warning. "Evan Shelby, can you fucking not call her whatever you want?"
Evan Shelby didn’t get angry. His blue eyes curved, holding an inscrutable smile. "Keith Sterling, can you fucking not tear down the bridge after crossing it?"
Keith Sterling: "..."
’Fuck!’
’I’ve never met a more annoying person!’
Sienna Everett touched her forehead, exasperated. She couldn’t be bothered with these two.
Later that afternoon, Orion Hawthorne came to see Stella Shaw about work.
Spotting Sienna Everett on the sofa, Orion Hawthorne raised an eyebrow, a silver lock of hair over his forehead sweeping up in a youthful, carefree arc. "Long time no see."
Sienna Everett lifted her gaze to look at him. "Long time no see."
Orion Hawthorne’s gaze swept around the office. Besides Sienna Everett and Stella Shaw, he also saw Keith Sterling and a mixed-race man with blue eyes.
Orion Hawthorne recognized the man—he was the owner of G.Y. and a friend of Sienna Everett’s.
"Orion, come here."
Stella Shaw had Orion Hawthorne sit in the chair in front of her desk and went over some work-related matters with him.
Orion Hawthorne had a commercial shoot and a livestream that evening, so his schedule was packed. After discussing work with Stella Shaw, he had to leave right away.
Just as he was walking out the door, Orion Hawthorne turned back and looked at Sienna Everett on the sofa.
Bright sunlight streamed in through the window, half of it landing on her, making her jade-white skin seem even paler and her lips moist and crimson, like a proud and showy rose.
Orion Hawthorne couldn’t help but stare for a few seconds before asking curiously, "Sienna Everett, you know fashion design too?"
Sienna Everett looked up at his words. "What about it?"
Orion Hawthorne quirked his lip, looking for all the world like a man with too much money and nowhere to spend it. "Design something for me when you have time. I’ll pay you triple."
Sienna Everett was about to blurt out that she didn’t design menswear, but then she remembered the shirt she had designed for Julian Forrester’s birthday.
’That was the first time she had ever designed menswear, and so far, the only time.’
’The final piece looked great on him.’
’It seemed she had a talent for designing menswear as well.’
’However...’
Sienna Everett looked at Orion Hawthorne, her eyes shimmering like a clear pool under the moonlight. She smiled, her refusal blunt. "I’m not designing for you. I don’t have the time."
Orion Hawthorne’s gaze darkened slightly. He gave her one last deep look, then waved his hand and left.
「Around Evening.」
Sienna Everett glanced at the time. It was time to go home. She stood up and said goodbye to Stella Shaw.
Just as Sienna Everett, Keith Sterling, and Evan Shelby were walking out of the company building, a figure suddenly rushed over to block her path.
Sienna Everett froze for a moment. When she recognized the extravagantly dressed woman before her, her brows knitted slightly. ’It’s Sheila Whitaker. How is she still here?’
’Has she been waiting since this afternoon?’
Evan Shelby didn’t know Sheila Whitaker, but Keith Sterling did.
Sheila Whitaker had once slandered Sienna Everett, falsely accusing her of pushing down her own biological mother, which led to Sienna being viciously attacked by netizens. Thankfully, the truth was later clarified.
Keith Sterling could hardly put on a pleasant face for such a cold-blooded and malicious mother.
A humorless smile played on Keith Sterling’s lips as he deliberately asked, in a passive-aggressive tone, "Ms. Whitaker, now that you’ve tracked Sienna Everett down to her company, what are you planning to falsely accuse her of this time?"
Sheila Whitaker’s face instantly turned pale with humiliation.
However, she didn’t regret slandering Sienna Everett. What she regretted was that the slander was exposed, leading to Mason going to jail.
Sheila Whitaker still seethed at the thought of Mason Everett’s imprisonment, but she had come to see Sienna Everett for another reason. She could only swallow her anger and say, "Sienna, I need to talk to you about something."
At her words, Sienna Everett’s eyelid twitched slightly.
’Sienna...’
