Chapter 153: Taking a Hair for a DNA Test
Chapter 153: Chapter 153: Taking a Hair for a DNA Test
Stella Shaw looked at Isabelle Sutton and asked, "What was that man’s name? Did he tell you?"
Isabelle Sutton shook her head. "No. He seemed like a decent guy, actually. He knew I was a celebrity, but he didn’t leak the story about my near-car accident. He even kept it a secret for me."
Stella Shaw mulled it over for a moment. ’Maybe I’m overthinking this.’
’It couldn’t be Lucas Everett... That would be too much of a coincidence.’
After explaining what happened with the car, Isabelle Sutton went over and linked arms with Sienna Everett, her voice filled with concern.
"Sienna, when I was coming to the lounge just now, I saw Wyatt Everett and Dustin Everett outside. I have a feeling they’re here specifically to find you."
Isabelle Sutton used to be a big fan of Dustin Everett. She loved his music and even considered him her idol.
But after finding out what the Everetts did to Sienna, Isabelle decisively renounced her fandom and wanted nothing more to do with Dustin Everett.
If she had to choose between the Everetts and Sienna, she would, of course, stand with Sienna unconditionally.
At the mention of Wyatt and Dustin Everett’s names, a veil of indifference fell over Sienna’s features. "Don’t mind them."
The words had just left her mouth when a knock sounded at the door.
Orion Hawthorne, who had been sitting silently on the sofa, turned his head to look at the door.
Stella Shaw walked over to open the door.
When she opened the door, she found Wyatt and Dustin Everett standing there. Speak of the devil.
"Sienna..." Wyatt Everett’s gaze went straight to Sienna, ignoring everyone else. "Can you come out for a moment? I have something to give you."
Orion Hawthorne rose from the sofa, moved protectively to Sienna’s side, and glared coldly at Wyatt and Dustin Everett.
Isabelle Sutton didn’t give Wyatt and Dustin Everett a friendly look, either.
Sienna saw that Wyatt was, in fact, holding a box. She lowered her gaze, considering. A standoff here would solve nothing, so she walked over.
She walked out of the lounge and into the hallway.
Dustin Everett’s eyes were fixed on Sienna, as if afraid to look away for even a second. "Sienna, how have you been? Are you okay?"
Sienna ignored him, her impatient gaze landing on the box in Wyatt’s hands, silently urging him to get on with it.
Wyatt quickly began, "Sienna, you’ve probably heard. Our eldest brother has been missing for some time. We don’t know if he’s had an accident or just where he’s gone... I haven’t been able to reach him either."
Sienna’s expression was placid, as if she were listening to a matter of no consequence.
Dustin continued, "Before he disappeared, our eldest brother came to see Wyatt and me. He gave us something and told us to pass it on to you."
"Wyatt and I didn’t know where you were living and had no way to contact you. When we heard you were attending the charity gala tonight, we came here specifically to find you."
Wyatt held the box out to Sienna. "This is what our eldest brother asked us to give you. Dustin and I haven’t opened it to look."
Sienna glanced at the box but didn’t even lift a hand, showing no intention of accepting it.
Wyatt knew perfectly well that Sienna was so disgusted she didn’t even want to glance at it. He took the initiative and opened the box himself. "Sienna, just take one look. Then you can decide if you want it!"
As the lid opened, the contents of the box were revealed.
When Sienna saw what was inside, her pupils contracted almost imperceptibly.
There were two items in the box.
On the left was a small gold lock.
Sienna recognized it at a glance. This was her small gold lock!
Having been separated from her family since she was a child, the one thing she always had was a small gold lock engraved with her date of birth.
Sienna had treasured this small gold lock her whole life.
But unfortunately, when she returned to the Everett family two years ago, Shannon Everett had seen her small gold lock and, out of curiosity, asked to play with it. Desperate to fit in, Sienna had given it to her. The very next day, Shannon claimed to have lost it.
At the time, Sienna had been furious and frantic, demanding that Shannon search properly and find it.
When Mason Everett found out, he didn’t blame Shannon. Instead, he turned on Sienna with a stern face and scolded her, saying it was just a tattered old lock. If it was lost, it was lost, so what was the big deal? He was more worried that playing with it for a night might have dirtied Shannon’s hands!
After that, her small gold lock was gone for good.
’And now, Mason had specifically dug it up and sent Wyatt and Dustin to return it to her?’
Besides the small gold lock, there was also a shattered diamond hair clip in the box, its cracked pieces glued back together.
That was from her first New Year’s Eve with the Everett family. Morgan and Sheila Whitaker had prepared luxurious, expensive gifts for Shannon, while Sienna’s "gift" was a diamond hair clip that Shannon had grown tired of and was planning to throw out.
And even that used, secondhand gift had ended up being crushed under Mason’s foot.
’And now Mason had glued it back together, piece by piece?’
Sienna found the entire situation laughable.
She had no idea why Mason would secretly keep the crushed hair clip all this time.
But as for the act of gluing it back together, Sienna could only see it as foolish and ridiculous.
Wyatt asked cautiously, "Sienna, this is what our eldest brother wanted me to pass on to you. Will you... accept it?"
Sienna raised her hand and took only the small gold lock that belonged to her.
As for the diamond hair clip, she wouldn’t even touch it, feeling it would dirty her hands.
Dustin quickly added, "Sienna, our eldest brother also had a message for us to relay to you."
Sienna had no desire to listen and turned to head back to the lounge.
But at that moment, she saw Ian Prescott walking towards them.
’What’s he doing here?’
Ian Prescott wore a black shirt that accentuated his long, straight legs. A cold smirk played on his lips. "With pests who cling like this, a good beating is usually the most straightforward solution."
His comment about "pests" was clearly directed at Wyatt and Dustin Everett.
Hearing this, Wyatt and Dustin immediately turned to look at Ian Prescott. It was obvious at a glance that he was hostile toward them.
Not wanting to look at Wyatt and Dustin any longer, Sienna gestured to Ian and led him to the other end of the corridor.
Once Wyatt and Dustin were out of sight, Sienna stopped and asked, "What are you doing here?"
Ian Prescott smiled, his tone unreadable. "I made a charitable donation, so the gala organizers invited me. I never expected to run into you here. What a coincidence."
Sienna: "..."
Ian might have said it was a coincidence, but in reality, he had come specifically for Sienna.
He had to find out for himself whether Sienna was his long-lost sister.
As for how to get a DNA test...
A hair with the follicle still attached could be used for the test...
Ian’s gaze drifted thoughtfully to Sienna’s long, dark hair. ’There’s no time like the present,’ he thought. ’I might as well take this opportunity to get a few strands.’
Without changing his expression, Ian took a stealthy step closer to Sienna. He quietly raised his hand, reaching for her hair.
