Chapter 176: Chapter 176: Slapping the Scumbag Brother, the Heartless and Ungrateful Beast

But the thought was immediately dismissed by Lucas Everett.

It was a well-known fact that Zephyr, the God of Racing, was a man.

And Sienna Everett was a woman.

How could the two possibly be connected?

Lucas Everett quietly breathed a sigh of relief.

’Honestly,’ he thought. ’My eldest brother, Mason Everett, was looking for Kian, who turned out to be Sienna Everett. My fifth brother, Dustin Everett’s, revered mentor SG was also Sienna Everett. It’s making me paranoid.’

’Thankfully, Zephyr, the God of Racing, is a man.’

’Sienna Everett could never be Zephyr.’

The tension that had been coiling in Lucas Everett’s chest finally eased.

Still, his gaze toward Sienna Everett remained probing. "A moment ago, Mr. Lawrence said he thought you were finally returning to the racetrack today. How is it that I never knew you could race?"

Sienna Everett’s tone was icy. "There’s a lot you don’t know."

"Sienna Everett!" Lucas Everett was instantly displeased. ’What kind of attitude is that?’

’Does she have any respect for her older brother at all?’

Lucas Everett took a deep breath, his eyes locked on Sienna Everett. "Since you know how to race, why don’t we have a match? Everyone’s here at the track, after all."

He wanted to see just how good Sienna Everett’s skills were.

If her skills were just average, then it would be even more certain that she couldn’t be Zephyr.

But to his surprise, Sienna Everett simply arched an eyebrow and flatly refused. "No."

Lawrence gave Sienna Everett a puzzled look, his eyes asking why she refused.

After the way Lucas Everett had been targeting Sienna Everett, Lawrence felt he deserved to be taught a lesson.

Sensing Lawrence’s confusion, Sienna Everett lowered her gaze and laughed, though a hint of imperceptible bitterness laced her voice. "Have you forgotten? I promised someone I wouldn’t participate in racing competitions anymore."

Standing nearby, Ian Prescott immediately understood what she meant.

’This was the deal Sienna Everett made with that doctor!’

’To get Lucas Everett’s injured leg treated, to convince that doctor to perform the surgery on him, Sienna Everett had announced her retirement and promised she would never race professionally again.’

’For Lucas Everett, she had unhesitatingly thrown away her entire racing career...’

Hearing Sienna Everett’s words, Lawrence suddenly recalled that when Zephyr announced her retirement, she had indeed said she would no longer compete.

Lawrence only knew that Zephyr had retired abruptly; he never knew the specific reason why.

It was such a shame.

’Whatever the reason, to throw away your career at the absolute peak of your glory... It’s just tragic.’

But this was Sienna Everett’s choice, and he had no option but to support it.

That was why, after Zephyr retired, Lawrence had been too filled with regret and heartache to follow racing anymore. He had only come today because he heard Sienna Everett would be here.

Upon hearing Sienna Everett say she’d promised someone she wouldn’t race anymore, Lucas Everett let out a contemptuous sneer. "You’re not just scared, are you? Scared to race me, so you came up with this flimsy excuse?"

Sienna Everett’s eyes went cold as she shot him a frigid, indifferent look.

After two seconds, she averted her gaze, her face devoid of expression. "Think what you will."

The contempt in Lucas Everett’s eyes deepened. "A coward is a coward. Don’t make up such a ridiculous and pathetic excuse. Promising someone you won’t race anymore? That’s laughable."

After speaking, Lucas Everett let out a deliberately exaggerated and shameless laugh.

It was exceptionally grating.

Ian Prescott’s expression turned frigid, and the look he gave Lucas Everett was laced with a deathly chill.

’Sienna Everett had done it all for Lucas Everett’s sake. It was to get him back to the racetrack he cherished that she had agreed with the doctor to announce her retirement and promise never to race again.’

’And what was Lucas Everett doing now?’

’He was mocking her, calling her a coward, scorning her for not daring to race him.’

’What had Sienna Everett received in exchange for sacrificing everything?’

’This ungrateful, heartless bastard?!’

Lucas Everett was laughing loudly when he suddenly felt a bone-chilling gaze lock onto him, frightening him into silence. He turned his head and saw it was Ian Prescott.

The man’s eyes were fixed on him, as cold as sunless ice at the bottom of a deep pool.

Startled, Lucas Everett hastily and awkwardly averted his gaze.

Sienna Everett’s long lashes fluttered like a butterfly’s wings. She turned to glance at Ian Prescott. "Today’s races are over. Let’s go."

With that, she turned and started to walk away.

Keith Sterling and Evan Shelby exchanged a stunned glance before quickly following her.

Lucas Everett watched Sienna Everett’s retreating back and sneered again. "Sienna Everett, looks like you really don’t have the guts to race me. Since you came up with such a laughable excuse, I’ll just pretend to believe that you ’promised someone’ you wouldn’t race anymore."

Though he said the words, his tone was dripping with sarcasm.

He was mocking her for being too afraid to race him, for finding a pathetic excuse to get out of it.

Orion Hawthorne’s expression was grim. He shot Lucas Everett a venomous glare before turning to walk out with Sienna Everett.

Lucas Everett ignored Orion Hawthorne, but when he saw the disappointed and heartbroken look in Isabelle Sutton’s eyes, his heart felt a sharp pang, as if stabbed by a needle.

’Why is Isabelle Sutton so protective of Sienna Everett? Can’t she be more considerate of me?’

’So what if I hate Sienna Everett and treat her badly?’

’Has Sienna Everett ever been good to me?’

Filled with resentment, Lucas Everett glared fiercely at Sienna Everett’s back. "Sienna Everett, you’re the one who’s too scared to race! You’re running away! Don’t you dare regret this later!"

Sienna Everett paid him no mind, not even turning her head.

Lucas Everett was now certain. Sienna Everett could not possibly be Zephyr.

’Zephyr wouldn’t be this much of a coward.’

At this moment, Lawrence shot Lucas Everett a displeased look, then glanced at Sienna Everett’s retreating figure. Suddenly remembering something, he hurried after her.

"Sierra!"

Hearing Lawrence’s voice, Sienna Everett finally stopped.

"Sierra, I remember now!" Lawrence said, walking quickly to stand in front of her.

"Your promise to that person was that you wouldn’t participate in any *official* racing competitions. This is just a private match between you and Lucas Everett. It wouldn’t count as an official race!"

Lucas Everett crossed his arms and strode over arrogantly. "Mr. Lawrence, I know Sienna Everett is your friend, but it’s no use. She’s too scared to race, so it doesn’t matter how many excuses you make for her."

"Shut up!" Lawrence cut him off, his gaze icy. "Let’s get one thing straight. If you want to race Sienna Everett, then this is just a friendly match to see who wins. There will be no prize money for the winner, no points awarded, and it will have no effect on a driver’s ranking on the leaderboard!"

This "leaderboard" referred to the system where drivers earned points for winning official competitions.

On the overall leaderboard, Zephyr had been retired for two years and hadn’t competed once in that time, but she still held the number one spot.

She had an insurmountable lead over second place.

Even after giving other drivers a two-year head start, no one had managed to catch up. Zephyr still held the top record.

Lucas Everett sneered, looking mockingly at Sienna Everett. "I agree with Lawrence’s terms. It’s just a private match. Do you dare to race me or not?"

Do you dare to race me or not?

"Hah..." Sienna Everett’s eyes were downcast as a low laugh escaped her crimson lips. Her raven-like lashes lifted slightly, revealing a dark glint in her eyes. "Lucas Everett, if we’re going to race, let’s add a little wager. The loser has to get on their knees and beg for mercy. Do you dare?"
