Chapter 177: Chapter 177: Slap in the Face! Lucas Everett Kneels and Begs for Mercy

When Lucas Everett heard Sienna Everett’s bet, his first reaction was, ’Is she trying to pull something?’

But on second thought, Sienna Everett had been hemming and hawing, refusing to race him. She’d even made up that ridiculous excuse about promising someone she’d never race again.

Now she was proposing this bet about the loser kneeling and begging for mercy. ’Isn’t she just trying to scare me off?’

Lucas Everett scoffed internally.

He couldn’t speak for other fields, but on the racetrack, he had absolute confidence in his skills.

Besides, he was the one who challenged Sienna Everett to a race in the first place. If he backed down from the bet now, it would look as if he were afraid of her.

"It’s just a bet. What do I have to be afraid of?"

Lucas Everett’s rugged features hardened, his competitive streak making him look fierce. He stared at Sienna Everett, his expression conveying his complete confidence in winning.

"Sienna Everett, I’m warning you. Don’t come crying to me when you lose!"

Sienna Everett, however, just gave a faint, placid smile. "You should worry about yourself. Why don’t you start thinking about how you’re going to kneel later?"

"Sienna Everett!" Lucas Everett was so furious he could spit. ’This woman has no idea what she’s up against!’

Seeing that Sienna Everett had finally agreed to the race, which meant that arrogant Lucas Everett would finally be taught a lesson, Lawrence was overjoyed. He called over his bodyguards and told them to bring the silver FE sports car from his personal collection for Sienna to use.

The car arrived a short while later.

Lucas Everett had his own custom race car. Its engine was meticulously modified for competition, and its performance was far superior to that of a standard vehicle.

The silver FE that Lawrence provided was a standard-class race car. In terms of performance, it couldn’t compare to Lucas’s vehicle.

Both cars pulled up to the starting line.

The race was about to begin.

The racing fans at the track were excited to see Lucas Everett about to race Sienna Everett, even if they weren’t clear on how things had escalated to this point.

In the previous race, Lucas Everett had performed poorly, only taking fifth place. Everyone wondered if he would be able to unleash his true strength this time.

Keith Sterling knew Lucas Everett’s skills were not to be underestimated; he was arguably the best driver in the racing world today.

But he had never seen Sienna race before and had no idea how skilled she was. ’What if she ends up losing...’

Keith Sterling’s heart pounded with anxiety at the mere thought. He rushed over to Lawrence. "Sir, you’re Sienna’s friend. How good is she at racing?"

Evan Shelby was equally tense.

Lawrence, however, simply gave a gentlemanly smile. "The race is about to begin. You’ll soon see with your own eyes."

Keith Sterling nearly choked on his frustration. ’Why is this old man being so cryptic!’

He was genuinely terrified that Sierra would lose. What if Lucas Everett decided to humiliate her...

Orion Hawthorne and Isabelle Sutton were also fraught with anxiety; only Ian Prescott remained relatively calm.

Meanwhile, a heated debate erupted among the racing fans in the stands over who would win the race.

Although Sienna Everett was Lawrence’s friend, and the fans deeply respected Lawrence, that respect didn’t extend to her.

Because on the racetrack, skill is everything.

"Mr. Lawrence might say Sienna Everett knows how to race, but I still feel like Lucas Everett is much more likely to win. He’s a professional, after all. I’ve never even heard the name Sienna Everett in the racing world."

"It’s a no-brainer that Lucas Everett will win! Don’t mind that he only got fifth place earlier; that was just a fluke. It’s no exaggeration to say that the only one who can beat Lucas at his level is the God of Racing, Zephyr!"

"Exactly. I’ve been watching motorsports for five years. Ever since Zephyr retired, Lucas Everett has been the undisputed No. 1. A hobbyist like Sienna Everett, who just messes around on her own, stands no chance against a professional."

"If you ask me, I don’t know why Sienna Everett is even bothering. How humiliating will it be for a girl to lose and have to get on her knees to beg for mercy!"

With the crack of a starting gun, the race officially began.

The two race cars shot off the starting line simultaneously.

Sienna Everett was in the silver FE, and Lucas Everett was in a black race car.

In the blink of an eye, the black car surged ahead, leaving Sienna’s silver sports car a good distance behind.

Lucas Everett let out a cold snort. ’In terms of performance alone, her silver car is no match for my professional race car. It’s perfectly normal for her to be left behind.’

Sienna wasn’t falling behind on purpose; the initial acceleration of her silver car truly couldn’t match that of a professional-grade racer.

Lucas Everett didn’t get complacent. He seized the opportunity to accelerate, and the black car shot forward like an arrow, widening the gap with Sienna more and more.

Watching Sienna get left further and further behind, Lucas Everett smirked in disdain. ’And here I thought she was so tough. She’s nothing special after all.’

’And she had the audacity to declare that the loser would have to kneel and beg for mercy.’

’Hah. Well, Sienna can get ready to beg, because that’s exactly what she’ll be doing today!’

In the stands, Keith Sterling watched Lucas Everett’s black car maintain a solid lead. He was like an ant on a hot griddle, so anxious he felt like his head was about to start smoking.

Evan Shelby and Orion Hawthorne weren’t quite as frantic as Keith, but their expressions were equally grim.

The racing fans in the audience all wore expressions that said, "See? I knew it."

"See? I told you. There’s no way Sienna Everett can beat Lucas Everett. The race just started and she’s already been left far behind."

"That’s just how it is. A hobbyist can’t really compete with a professional, especially one on Lucas Everett’s level."

"Tsk, tsk. Thinking about how Sienna will have to kneel and beg for mercy when she loses... I’m almost starting to feel sorry for the beautiful lady!"

On the track, the first corner was rapidly approaching.

Lucas Everett’s concentration sharpened, and he was completely focused.

He was always dead serious when it came to racing, his greatest passion.

As he approached the corner, Lucas began to decelerate appropriately. He planned to accelerate again once he was safely through the turn.

Just then, a silver blur flashed in the corner of his eye, approaching rapidly from the rear.

It was Sienna!

Lucas Everett’s brow furrowed, followed by a cold sneer. ’Does Sienna think she can overtake me while I’m slowing for the corner?’

’Hah! Dream on!’

’Everyone knows you have to slow down for turns. Otherwise, it’s easy to fly off the track or hit the guardrail and flip the car!’

’I have to slow down for the turn, and so does Sienna. How is she possibly going to overtake me?’

But in the next second...

Lucas Everett’s eyes widened in shock.

He watched as Sienna’s silver car, like a meteor streaking across the sky, showed no obvious signs of slowing down!

With a beautiful, clean drift and a flick of the tail, her tires screeched across the asphalt, and in the blink of an eye, she was through the corner!

And then, with one clean, beautiful move, she instantly shot past Lucas and took the lead!

When Keith Sterling saw this, he shot to his feet, his adrenaline surging wildly.

She overtook him!

Sienna overtook Lucas!

It was so clean and decisive! Absolutely beautiful!

Isabelle Sutton was so excited she almost screamed.

The racing fans in the stands were stunned silent for several long seconds before erupting in a chorus of disbelieving shouts.

"Wh-what just happened? Holy shit, how did Sienna just overtake him like that?"

"That was beautiful! That cornering drift was absolutely insane! She took that turn even more cleanly than a professional racer like Lucas Everett! Is this Sienna Everett person really just an amateur?"

"Did Lucas mess up again? Is that why Sienna managed to get past him?"

"Uh, could be. He wasn’t in top form during the last race... Hey, look! Lucas is catching up to Sienna!"

Back on the track, Lucas Everett’s eyes were glued to Sienna up ahead. He gripped the steering wheel tightly and floored the accelerator in pursuit.

Finally, he began closing the distance to Sienna.

’Hah, I knew it,’ he thought. ’Her passing me just now was nothing but a fluke.’

’In the end, I’m still going to be the one who wins this race!’

Just as he was about to overtake Sienna’s silver car, she suddenly accelerated, shooting forward and leaving him far behind once more.

The crowd groaned in frustration. What was Lucas Everett doing? Was he daydreaming? How could he let such a perfect opportunity to overtake slip by, only to be left behind again!

And yet, this exact same scene played out twice more.

Each time Lucas painstakingly caught up to Sienna and was on the verge of overtaking her, she would suddenly accelerate again, leaving him far behind.

It happened every single time.

A strange silence fell over the racing fans in the stands as an incredible realization dawned on them.

Once could be a coincidence.

But for it to happen two, three times in a row... that was pure skill!

Sienna was doing it on purpose!

She was deliberately toying with Lucas Everett!

She was giving him hope, letting him think he had caught up, only to leave him in the dust again, plunging him into despair. It was like a cat toying with a mouse!
