Chapter 188: Who Said I Wouldn’t Go With You?
Chapter 188: Chapter 188: Who Said I Wouldn’t Go With You?
When Simon Sinclair saw the spark of hope in Sienna Everett’s eyes, he grew incredibly displeased. A shadow fell over his narrowed gaze. "Are you that eager to see Julian Forrester?"
"Obviously. You want me to hope I’m stuck here with you, forced to remember whatever it is I supposedly promised you? At this point, I’m starting to think you’re just making things up to trick me."
As soon as Sienna Everett finished speaking, she bolted for the exit.
A vein throbbed in Simon Sinclair’s temple.
Just as Sienna Everett dashed past him, he shot out a hand and clamped down on her slender, pale wrist.
His voice was laced with danger. "Sweetheart, care to make another bet?"
"Bet on what?" Sienna Everett was instantly on guard.
"Let’s bet..." The man paused for two seconds, an unreadable smile playing in his almond-shaped eyes. "On whether or not Julian Forrester can get you out of here."
Sienna Everett’s expression hardened, and her voice grew cold. "Sinclair, don’t you start anything!"
"Hah... Starting something?" The man scoffed. He kept one hand clamped on Sienna Everett’s wrist while raising the other, tapping his temple with his long, pale fingers. "Silly me, I almost forgot. I haven’t given you your welcome gift yet."
Sienna Everett’s face was a stony mask as she flatly refused. "I don’t want it."
’This guy is treacherous and unpredictable, his actions are insane, and he doesn’t think like a normal person. Who would want a gift from him?!’
But Simon Sinclair ignored Sienna Everett’s refusal, turning to a nearby subordinate. "Bring it over."
Then he forcibly dragged Sienna Everett up to the second-floor study.
The moment they entered the study, Sienna Everett wrenched herself free from his grip. Just then, Simon Sinclair’s subordinate approached with a rectangular gift box, presenting it to her with both hands.
Sienna Everett stood perfectly still, her gaze lifting to Simon Sinclair by the window. "I said, I don’t want it."
Simon Sinclair tilted his head, a wicked grin on his face. "If you don’t take it, he’ll have to stand there holding it forever."
The "he," of course, was the subordinate holding the gift out to Sienna Everett.
Sienna Everett’s eyebrow twitched. Not wanting to drag anyone else into this, she snatched the gift box with a grumble.
The subordinate finally let out a sigh of relief, bowing his head respectfully as he stepped aside.
Upon opening the box, she found a silver handgun inside. It wasn’t a replica or a toy, but a real firearm, already loaded with ammunition.
Sienna Everett recognized it at a glance. It was a Colt MT200. An uncommon model, but an excellent weapon, and a favorite among some mercenaries.
The corner of Sienna Everett’s mouth twitched.
’Of course. His gifts are just as insane as he is!’
"What am I supposed to do with this?" She gave Simon Sinclair a speechless look.
"You don’t like it?"
"It’s... fine." Sienna was an excellent shot and had a healthy interest in firearms, but this was a real gun. There was no way she could bring it back home.
Just then, a beam of light cut through the study window. Set against the black night, the glare was blinding, like headlights approaching from a distance.
Sienna’s heart leaped. It began to pound in her chest, as if in premonition. She rushed to the window and looked out.
A long procession of black cars was heading for the villa, forming a ring around the entire property. As the vehicles stopped, tall bodyguards in black suits poured out.
The moment they were out of their cars, the bodyguards drew their weapons and aimed them at the villa.
Seeing this, Simon Sinclair’s men who were patrolling the grounds immediately went on alert. They converged, forming a line in front of the villa, and raised their own weapons to meet the uninvited guests.
The two sides were locked in a standoff.
Amid the tense and dangerous atmosphere, the door of the black car parked in the center of the formation slowly opened. A tall, distinguished figure emerged.
The headlights from the dozen or so cars converged in the darkness.
The man stepped out of the car and stood silhouetted against the blinding lights. His face was obscured, but the elegant, handsome profile of his face was unmistakable.
From the second-floor window, Sienna Everett recognized him in an instant. It was Julian Forrester!
’He really came?!’
Sienna’s heart skipped a beat. She whirled around, ready to run out.
The subordinate standing nearby immediately raised an arm, blocking her path.
Sienna frowned and stopped in her tracks, turning to Simon Sinclair. "Will you ever stop?"
"Sweetheart, remember our little bet?" A thin, cold smile touched the man’s lips. "I bet... that Julian Forrester can’t take you from here."
With that, he forcibly dragged Sienna back to the window and made her face the scene outside.
Sienna struggled instinctively.
But Simon Sinclair stood behind Sienna, almost embracing her. He pinned her left arm with one hand and, with the other, took the silver handgun and pressed it into her right palm.
Then, from behind, Simon wrapped his hand around hers, guiding the gun as if he were teaching her how to shoot.
Only, as the muzzle slowly rose, it was aimed directly at Julian Forrester outside.
"Simon!"
Sienna’s eyes flew wide. She called out his name in a cold voice and immediately began to struggle.
The man was incredibly strong. He held her gun hand in an iron grip, keeping the weapon aimed flawlessly at Julian Forrester.
He lowered his head slightly, his lips brushing her ear. His voice was low and dangerous. "Are you really not going to divorce him?"
Just then, as if sensing something, Julian Forrester’s head snapped up, his piercing gaze fixed on the second-floor window of the villa.
At his movement, the surrounding bodyguards immediately looked up as well.
Realizing a gun was aimed at them from that window, the bodyguards tensed, instantly redirecting their own weapons toward the second floor.
Back in the second-floor study.
Simon stood behind Sienna, his hand covering hers on the gun. He dipped his head, his warm breath ghosting across her neck. "You didn’t want to marry him in the first place, did you?"
Sienna hated being held captive like this. Her face was an icy mask, devoid of emotion. "What does that have to do with you?"
"Since you didn’t want to marry him, how about I help you get rid of him?"
"...My ass!"
’That psychotic bastard!’
Sienna closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "Simon, you’re not in your right mind, so stay out of my business! Let me go, now! Do you hear me?!"
The man let out a low chuckle, his almond-shaped eyes full of a cloying affection. "Let you go? I could never bear to do that."
With her back to him, Sienna couldn’t see his expression. Gritting her teeth in fury, she suddenly rammed her elbow backward, catching him squarely in the chest.
He let out a pained grunt, a low, hoarse gasp escaping his throat.
It was strangely suggestive.
Sienna seized the opportunity to break free. She spun around to face Simon, instantly aiming the gun at his head.
With a gun pointed at his head, Simon looked completely unfazed. He rubbed his chest where she’d hit him with his long, pale fingers, his tone almost complaining. "So fierce."
Seeing this, the subordinate standing nearby immediately drew his own gun and aimed it at Sienna’s temple.
Regardless of whether his boss liked this woman or not, she was now threatening his life. As a subordinate, it was his duty to protect his boss.
But Simon’s expression suddenly darkened. His gaze, now cold and sinister, shot toward his subordinate. "Who gave you permission to point a gun at her? Put it down!"
The subordinate froze.
’Just a moment ago, the boss didn’t seem to care that Sienna had a gun to his head. But now he’s furious that someone’s pointing a gun at her?’
"Boss..."
The subordinate wanted to argue his case.
The man’s eyes were dark, his tone unreadable. "I like it when she points a gun at my head. Do you have a problem with that?"
The subordinate: "..."
The subordinate didn’t dare say another word and immediately lowered his weapon.
’But what if this woman hurts the boss...’
Sienna wore an expression of utter speechlessness. "Simon, have you had your fun yet? Are you done being crazy?"
The man, however, glanced at the clock on the wall. "Only twenty minutes left. Still haven’t remembered what you promised me?"
Sienna: "..."
’I have a gun pointed at his head. We’re in the middle of all this, and he’s still hung up on that?’
Sienna followed his gaze to the clock. It was just past 11:40 PM. ’Is it related to the time? What could it be?’
Outside the villa.
Julian Forrester looked up toward the second floor and was just about to step toward the villa when, BANG! A gunshot shattered the night’s silence.
Julian’s expression darkened. A few seconds later, the man with the striking almond-shaped eyes emerged from the villa.
Seeing him, Simon Sinclair’s men immediately parted, clearing a path for him.
The two factions remained in a standoff, guns raised.
Simon, however, approached as if on a leisurely stroll. He stopped a few paces from Julian Forrester, his eyes narrowed as he sized him up.
Julian’s handsome face was a mask of indifference, his voice laced with an icy chill. "Where is Sienna Everett?"
Simon tugged at the corner of his mouth, his voice devoid of emotion. "She doesn’t want to go with you."
Hearing this, the air around Julian instantly grew colder. A dark, vicious aura seemed to emanate from his very bones as his lips formed icy words. "I’ll ask one last time. Where is Sienna Everett?"
His patience was clearly wearing thin; this was a final warning.
But Simon just laughed, his almond-shaped eyes curving upward. "And I’ll say it one last time. She doesn’t want to go with you."
The words had barely left his mouth when—
"Who says I don’t want to go?!"
A clear, sweet voice suddenly rang out, shattering the tense atmosphere.
Julian froze for a second, then immediately turned his head to see Sienna Everett running out of the villa.
At the sight of her, Simon Sinclair’s brow furrowed instantly.
Sienna didn’t even spare him a glance. She ran straight for Julian, rushing to a stop in front of him like a whirlwind. Blinking her shimmering eyes, she looked up at him. "Don’t listen to him! Who says I don’t want to go with you!"
