Chapter 278: Chapter 278: Someone Is Always Coveting His Wife

Sienna Everett was a little surprised. She hadn’t expected Shannon Everett to take the bait so quickly.

She had heard before that Shannon was trying to secretly sell off her shares in the Everett Corporation. She had arranged for Evan Shelby to have someone from the Starlight Consortium approach Shannon, thinking the negotiations would take some time. She never imagined things would progress so fast.

It now seemed that Shannon Everett was desperate to secretly sell her shares. She wanted to cash out the Everett family’s assets, pocket the money, and then skip town.

Morgan Everett and Sheila Whitaker surely didn’t know about this. ’If they found out Shannon intended to embezzle the family’s assets, it would be quite a spectacular show.’

Sienna Everett pondered for a moment before asking Evan Shelby on the other end of the line, "When are we signing the stock transfer agreement?"

Evan Shelby said, "It’s the end of the month now, right? The official signing is scheduled for the 10th of next month. I had the general manager of the Starlight Consortium contact Shannon Everett. She doesn’t suspect a thing right now. She has no idea I’m the man behind the Starlight Consortium, nor that you’re the majority shareholder. When she signs that contract on the 10th, heheh, she’s in for a world of hurt!"

"Oh, right, on the day of the signing, should we bring Morgan Everett and Sheila Whitaker over? Let those two old fools see what their precious daughter has done. Just thinking about them dying of anger is so satisfying! Wait a minute, you’re not going to get soft on them, are you?"

Sienna Everett felt insulted. In a tone that screamed, ’Are you insulting me?’, she retorted, "Do you think I would?"

Evan Shelby answered in a flash, "Of course not! I’d like to think I know you pretty well! In that case, let’s do some more planning over the next few days!"

"Mm, okay."

After hanging up, Sienna Everett was about to put her phone back in her pocket when she received messages from Stella Shaw and Isabelle Sutton.

Stella Shaw: [Sienna, I was just looking online and got a huge shock. You restored that Ancient Painting, which means you’re Winchester?!]

Sienna Everett replied demurely: [When the Ancient Painting was first restored, I was asked to keep it confidential, so I couldn’t tell you right away, Ophelia.]

Stella Shaw now felt as if she had suddenly won a multi-million dollar lottery—elated, yet a bit dazed.

She was elated because Sienna Everett’s popularity had absolutely exploded. Even a foreign president was paying attention to her, which was completely unprecedented.

She was dazed because it seemed there was nothing for her, the agent, to do. Sienna Everett could handle everything herself.

Compared to Orion Hawthorne, Sienna Everett was an absolute breeze to manage. Stella didn’t have to worry about a thing.

’Oh well, getting paid without doing any work is a dream come true for most people. I’ll just consider it an early retirement!’

After replying to Stella Shaw, Sienna Everett opened the message from Isabelle Sutton: [Sienna, Lucas Everett just came to me. He said he has something he wants me to give to you. I didn’t agree. I thought I should ask for your opinion first.]

Sienna Everett frowned. ’This Lucas Everett is sick in the head.’

Sienna Everett was currently in a private room at a hotel, having dinner with Chief Ford and Director Jarvis. It wasn’t appropriate to keep staring at her phone, so she quickly replied to Isabelle Sutton: [Just ignore him. Are you free tonight? I’d like to come see you.]

Isabelle Sutton replied immediately: [Yes, yes, of course! Come on over, Sienna! It’s been a while since we’ve seen each other! I’ll be waiting for you!]

Sienna Everett put down her phone and chatted for a bit with Chief Ford and Director Jarvis.

Director Jarvis, eager to recruit such a talent, pressed on, refusing to give up, "Miss Everett, are you sure you won’t consider working at the National Museum? We’ll give you the best salary and benefits!"

In short, he was trying to poach her with money.

It couldn’t be helped. Who would be willing to miss out on such a top-tier artifact restoration master?

Sienna Everett said apologetically, "I’m sorry, Director Jarvis, but I really don’t have any plans for that at the moment."

’I have too much to deal with right now,’ she thought. ’For instance, Shannon Everett secretly selling off her Everett Corporation shares. She’s already taken the bait. In just a few days, the Everett family will fall apart.’

Director Jarvis sighed repeatedly in disappointment, looking as if he had aged several years from sorrow.

Sienna Everett thought for a moment and suggested, "How about this, Director Jarvis? If you ever have any artifacts that are particularly difficult to restore, I’m always available to help."

"Really, Miss Everett?" Director Jarvis’s eyes lit up. "We’d be thrilled to have your help! Then it’s a deal!"

Chief Ford didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. He pointed a finger and said, "Look how happy you’ve made old Jarvis!"

With that, Chief Ford cleared his throat and asked, "Sierra, are you dating anyone right now?"

Sienna Everett: "?"

’Why is he suddenly asking this?’

Chief Ford smiled kindly. "Sierra, if you’re not dating anyone, I have a friend whose grandson is about your age. You young people could meet up and see how it goes. The kid is a great catch! Tall and handsome, too!"

Sienna Everett: "..."

’Ah, so that’s what this is about...’

Sienna Everett’s eyes were clear as she said frankly, "Chief Ford, I’m actually already married. It’s just that for personal reasons, we haven’t made our marriage public."

What?

Already married?

So suddenly?

Chief Ford and Director Jarvis were both utterly stunned.

Just then, Sienna Everett’s phone rang. It was a call from Julian Forrester.

"Excuse me, I need to take this call outside," Sienna Everett said as she stood up.

Stepping outside the private room, Sienna Everett answered the call. In a playfully proud tone, she asked, "Boyfriend, were you watching me on TV just now?"

A sexy chuckle came from the receiver, the man’s deep, magnetic voice caressing her eardrums. "Of course I was watching our Sienna. I couldn’t even bear to blink."

Sienna Everett: "..."

’Such a sweet talker.’

Julian Forrester’s voice was languid. "When will you be done? I’ll come pick you up."

Sienna Everett glanced at the time—it was almost eight in the evening. She thought for a moment and said, "I’m going to see Isabelle Sutton first, and then I’ll head home. I’ll call you when I’m ready to go home, and you can come get me then."

"Oh, right," Sienna Everett said, tapping her fingers against the hallway wall. "Since I was having dinner with Chief Ford and Director Jarvis today, Chief Ford asked if I was dating anyone. He wanted to set me up."

Julian Forrester: "?"

’Why is someone always trying to poach my wife?’

"I just told him that I’m already married!" Sienna said. She began to wonder if she should publicly announce her marriage to Julian Forrester. ’Otherwise, running into situations like this in the future will be a real hassle.’

After chatting a bit more, Sienna Everett hung up and went back into the private room.

Chief Ford still hadn’t recovered from his shock. He looked at Sienna Everett in disbelief. "Sierra, you’re really married?"

Sienna Everett nodded firmly. "It’s true."

Chief Ford’s brows knitted together, a protective, stern energy rising from him. "Which family’s little brat is he? Is he even good enough for you? What does he do for a living? Don’t tell me you have to support him?"

Sienna Everett blinked, unable to stop herself from imagining it.

Her, supporting Julian Forrester...

’It wouldn’t be impossible.’

’With a face as beautiful as his, I’d be more than happy to support him. Truly.’

Chief Ford, afraid that Sienna Everett was being emotionally manipulated, was about to ask more questions when his phone suddenly rang.

Seeing the caller ID, Chief Ford’s expression softened. He stood up with a kind and gentle look on his face and went out to take the call.

Director Jarvis couldn’t help but find it strange. Chief Ford was usually a very stern person; it was rare to see him treat anyone with such warmth. ’Whose call could that be?’

Chief Ford reached the door of the private room and answered the call, his voice gentle as he said, "Julian..."
