Chapter 44: Chapter 44: Wyatt Everett Berates Shannon Everett

Wyatt Everett shot to his feet, his expression as shocked as if he’d been struck by lightning. He stared at Shannon Everett beside him in utter disbelief.

Panicked, Shannon broke out in a cold sweat, desperately mashing the remote to turn off the video, but it was no use.

The video on the big screen continued to play—

"I don’t want to! I don’t want to die for Wyatt! If you have to kill someone, kill him! Don’t kill me!"

Shannon shrieked herself hoarse, then viciously shoved Sienna Everett forward.

"She’s willing! She’s willing to die for Wyatt! Take Sienna Everett! She’ll do it!"

The kidnapper glanced at Sienna Everett and gloated, "This is rich. A second ago you were comforting this Shannon, and now she’s sold you out in a heartbeat! HAHAHA!"

Sienna Everett remained silent.

The kidnapper glanced at Sienna Everett, tied to a chair, then pointed at the unconscious Wyatt Everett on the floor. "So, tell me. Are you willing to die for this piece of trash?"

Watching this, Wyatt Everett tensed, his fists clenching tight.

’What is Sienna’s answer going to be...’

’How is she going to treat me... her own brother...’

The next second, the Sienna Everett in the video slowly closed her eyes. Despite the chaos and danger, the girl’s clear eyes still shone with a resilient, starlit brilliance. In contrast, Shannon Everett, beside her, was a pathetic mess, her face streaked with tears.

Sienna Everett looked at the kidnapper, her voice clear and steady. "I am. But you have to keep your word. Let them go."

The moment she spoke, it felt as if something had exploded in Wyatt Everett’s head. He forgot to breathe.

’Willing...’

’Sienna actually said she was willing...’

’He had loathed this long-lost sister of his. He’d done nothing but berate and abuse her, never showing her a moment of kindness.’

’And yet, when it came down to life and death, Sienna was willing to die for a wretched brother like him...’

’Meanwhile, Shannon—the girl he’d always doted on as if she were his own flesh and blood—had cast him aside without a second thought, completely indifferent to his fate...’

’How could this be...’

Wyatt Everett’s world was spinning. He staggered back two steps, his hand shooting out to brace himself on a nearby table.

The surrounding crowd was stunned into silence. They never would have imagined that the one willing to die for Wyatt Everett back then wasn’t Shannon Everett, but Sienna Everett—the very person the Everett Family had cast off and treated with contempt!

’How could it be the other way around?’

’Had Shannon Everett been lying this whole time? Deceiving Wyatt Everett?’

Although Shannon Everett had brought these people here herself, seeing this unexpected turn of events, they couldn’t bring themselves to speak up for her.

The crowd exchanged uncertain glances, and then all eyes turned to the one at the center of it all: Shannon Everett.

Those probing, accusatory stares felt like daggers in Shannon Everett’s back. A chill shot through her, as if she’d been plunged into an ice cave, freezing the very blood in her veins. Her lips trembled as she stammered her defense, "It’s not like that, Third Brother, it’s not..."

But the video on the large screen kept playing, robbing her of any chance to spin a lie.

The kidnapper kicked the unconscious Wyatt Everett on the ground twice and slammed the door as he left.

Only Sienna Everett, Shannon Everett, and the unconscious Wyatt Everett were left in the room.

Tears streamed down Shannon Everett’s face. "Sienna," she sobbed, "I... I was just so scared. I didn’t mean to push you out there, I really didn’t..."

Sienna Everett watched her silently, her calm gaze seeming to pierce right through the facade.

Shannon Everett hiccuped through her sobs. "Sienna, don’t worry. If the kidnapper lets me go, I’ll make sure Mom and Dad come rescue you and Third Brother!"

Sienna Everett didn’t speak. She painstakingly shuffled her chair bit by bit over to Shannon Everett’s side and quietly began to untie the ropes binding her.

"Sienna, you..."

"Keep your voice down." Sienna Everett glanced at her, her expression neutral. "I’ll untie you first. Then you untie me."

The ropes were tight, but fortunately, Sienna Everett was familiar with these kinds of knots. She quickly undid the ones binding Shannon Everett.

"Now, help me." Sienna Everett glanced at Shannon Everett’s free hands, calmly directing her. "Circle around to my left, then..."

Just then, a loud BANG.

A powerful tremor from outside shook the entire house.

Flames flickered outside the window, signaling an explosion.

The door that the kidnapper had locked when he left was blown open by the immense force of the explosion.

Staring at the open door and the red glow of the fire outside, Shannon Everett froze for a beat, then bolted.

"Shannon Everett!"

Sienna Everett’s brow furrowed as she called after her.

But Shannon Everett was already gone.

Sienna Everett was still tied to the chair. She looked anxiously toward the door, but Shannon Everett never came back.

Seeing this, rage surged through Wyatt Everett. With a THUD, he slammed his fist on the table.

The people around him were utterly dumbfounded.

"Holy shit, did Shannon Everett... just run for it?"

"Damn it, how could she do that! Sienna Everett went to all the trouble to untie her, and what does she do? The second she sees the door blown open, she bolts, not even sparing a thought for Wyatt Everett!" ℯℯ𝘭.

"I mean... The least she could have done was untie Sienna Everett, right? If Sienna hadn’t freed her, she wouldn’t have had the chance to escape in the first place!"

"Exactly! Holy shit, I’m speechless!"

Wyatt Everett’s furious gaze snapped to Shannon Everett, his eyes blazing with overwhelming rage and disappointment.

Panicked, Shannon Everett felt a jolt of terror. Tears streamed down her cheeks. "Third Brother, it’s not true! I didn’t run..."

Wyatt Everett pointed a shaking finger at the screen, his voice a furious snarl. "You’re still denying it? Look for yourself!!"

Shannon Everett bit her lower lip hard, her face deathly pale. She clutched the remote in her hand as if it were her last lifeline, desperately trying to turn off the video.

’Stop playing!’

’Turn off! Turn off!’

However, it was as if the video had been hacked; it wouldn’t turn off.

Shannon Everett’s heart plummeted.

On the screen, Shannon Everett had just selfishly fled.

Sienna Everett glanced at the unconscious Wyatt Everett on the floor, took a deep breath to steady herself, and began struggling against her bonds, her tied hands fumbling to undo the ropes.

But the ropes were too tight, and the angle was awkward. It took Sienna Everett nearly three minutes to free herself.

In those three minutes, Shannon Everett never once returned.

Once the ropes were off, Sienna Everett could finally move freely.

Watching this, Wyatt Everett let out a huge sigh of relief. ’Thank God,’ he thought. ’Sienna finally got the ropes off. She can finally escape!’

At the same time, a nervous knot formed in Wyatt Everett’s stomach. ’Will Sienna run out by herself,’ he wondered, ’or will she try to get me out, too...’
