Chapter 45: Wyatt Everett Weeps Bitterly
Chapter 45: Chapter 45: Wyatt Everett Weeps Bitterly
Wyatt Everett stared at the large screen without blinking, his body tense.
On the screen, after Sienna Everett untied her ropes, she got up from her chair and, without a moment’s hesitation, walked straight toward the unconscious Wyatt Everett.
’She didn’t try to escape on her own!’
’She was going to take Wyatt with her!’
A wave of heat washed over Wyatt Everett’s eyes, and they began to well up.
He hadn’t cried in years, but now, watching the Sienna on the screen walk toward him, his eyes stung, and his very heart trembled.
At that moment, another massive explosion roared from outside the house.
The house shook, and with a BANG, the window shattered.
The chandelier on the ceiling swayed a few times before giving way and plummeting down.
The chandelier was falling right toward Wyatt Everett’s head!
Wyatt Everett was unconscious and completely unable to move. If the chandelier struck him, the consequences would be unthinkable.
At that critical moment, a figure flashed past. Sienna Everett had lunged forward, throwing herself over Wyatt Everett and shielding him from the falling chandelier!
She shielded the unconscious Wyatt with her own body!
The chandelier crashed onto Sienna Everett’s back, shattering with a loud CRACK. Shards ripped through her clothes and dug into her back, drawing bright red blood.
That dazzling crimson seared Wyatt Everett’s eyes from outside the screen.
’Sienna would rather get hurt herself than let anything happen to him...’
’To protect him... her cruel, heartless, and ungrateful brother...’
The others watching this shocking scene were all slack-jawed in astonishment. A few of the more sentimental girls could feel their eyes welling up.
"I can’t believe Sienna Everett..."
"She was so far from Wyatt, but she still managed to get to him in time..."
"If that chandelier had hit Wyatt’s head, he would have been seriously injured, if not killed!"
"I remember Sienna didn’t have it easy with the Everett Family, but when danger struck, she truly treated Wyatt like family, risking her life to protect him."
"Yeah, unlike Shannon, who only thought about saving herself!"
On the screen, Sienna shielded the unconscious Wyatt with her body. With shards of the chandelier buried in her back, blood gushed out, instantly staining her clothes red.
But Sienna didn’t check her own wounds. Her first instinct was to look at Wyatt beneath her. Only when she saw he was unharmed did she finally breathe a sigh of relief.
Sienna staggered to her feet. With no time to tend to her wounds, she reached back and began pulling the shards embedded in her skin out one by one!
Watching this, the crowd outside the screen winced in sympathetic pain.
But on screen, Sienna didn’t hesitate for a second. She gritted her teeth against the pain and pulled the shards from her back, causing even more blood to flow.
She had no time to staunch the bleeding. She immediately pulled the unconscious Wyatt to his feet, maneuvering him onto her back and struggling to lift him.
The moment she hoisted Wyatt onto her back, Sienna’s brow furrowed. Her face went deathly pale, and she bit her lower lip so hard that the vibrant red turned white, as if enduring immense pain.
Outside the screen, Wyatt’s heart clenched, and his eyes filled with worry. ’What’s happening?’
’What’s wrong?’
An observant girl suddenly spoke up:
"It’s Sienna’s back! There’s a shard she didn’t pull out! I noticed it earlier—she missed a piece. So when she lifted Wyatt onto her back..."
"Oh my God!" another girl gasped, her hand flying to her mouth, her eyes wide with shock. "Then the moment she lifted Wyatt, the pressure from his body must have... driven that shard all the way into her back, right?"
"Having a shard of glass pushed all the way into your body... who could possibly endure that?!"
"I’m a tough guy with thick skin and I couldn’t handle that, let alone a delicate young woman like Sienna..."
"Sienna must have truly seen Wyatt as her real brother back then..."
Listening to the murmurs around him, Wyatt felt a suffocating pain in his chest, as if it were stuffed with a thick sponge that made it impossible to breathe.
’Sienna had truly seen him as family. He was so much heavier than her, yet she endured the agony of a shard being driven into her flesh just to carry him, to escape with him.’
’And what about him? How had he treated her...?’
Wyatt stared at the Sienna on the screen with bloodshot eyes, hating himself more than he ever had in his life!
On the screen, Sienna used her slender frame to carry Wyatt, enduring the pain of the shard grinding into her back as she struggled to walk out.
She was losing so much blood. DRIP. DRIP. Red droplets splattered on the ground.
As she carried Wyatt from the room, she left a long trail of blood in her wake.
Even then, even while enduring such immense pain, Sienna never abandoned Wyatt, struggling to carry him as they escaped together.
Seeing the trail of blood she left, seeing the agony on her face, seeing how she kept him securely on her back, Wyatt’s eyes turned red, and tears streamed down his face, completely beyond his control.
A tidal wave of guilt and regret crashed over him, making his heart ache with a sharp, wrenching pain.
’It was Sienna who saved him...’
’It was Sienna who saved his life...’
’It was Sienna who was willing to get hurt, who risked her own life, just to save him...’
’A sister like that... such a good sister... and how had he treated her?’
’He despised her, hated her, berated her, hit her, and crushed her sincere heart into dust!’
Wyatt staggered back, clutching his chest in agony. It felt as if a giant hand was squeezing his heart, making it impossible to breathe.
’He was a bastard.’
’He wasn’t human!’
’He was worse than an animal!’
Tears blurred Wyatt’s vision. He turned to look at Shannon, his eyes swimming with profound disappointment and loathing.
"Shannon, you told me you were the one who saved me. How could you... How could you tell such a lie!"
"Wyatt, I didn’t..." Shannon shook her head frantically, her face a mess of tears.
Wyatt pointed at the large screen, roaring with uncontrollable rage, "The video is right there! How can you still deny it! The one who saved me was obviously Sienna! The one who ran away was you! Shannon, how could you so shamelessly take credit for what Sienna did!!"
"Wyatt, please listen to me," Shannon sobbed, tears streaming down her cheeks as she put on her most pitiful, heart-wrenching expression.
She tried to play the part of the weak, pitiful girl as she always had, but—
SLAP!
Wyatt slapped Shannon across the face!
"You’re still trying to argue?! The proof is right there! What is there left to say?!"
Wyatt’s chest heaved with fury.
"Shannon, I was unconscious that entire time. When I woke up, you told me *you* were the one who saved me. You said Sienna abandoned me and ran off on her own. How did you have the nerve to say that! How can you be so malicious!!"
