Chapter 65: Chapter 65: The Older Brother Who Puts a Woman Before His Brother
Keith Sterling let out a yelp as he shot up, running toward his brother. "Bro, your wife is trying to hit me with a pillow!"
Without even asking why, Julian Forrester simply said, "Then stand still. Why are you running?"
Keith Sterling: "..."
’I’m supposed to just stand there motionlessly and let her hit me?’
’Bro, really? Putting your girl before your own brother!’
Keith Sterling instantly went into full drama-queen mode, whimpering and wiping away imaginary tears. "Fine, fine, fine! So all these years of brotherhood and shared memories... they meant nothing! I wasted them all on you!"
Sienna Everett: "..."
’Is he nuts?’
Sienna Everett put down the throw pillow. She was about to ask Julian Forrester what he’d been doing upstairs, but when she turned her head, her gaze was met by his deep, tender eyes.
A scorching heat seemed to emanate from their depths.
Sienna Everett’s chest grew warm, and she flusteredly averted her gaze.
She snatched up the pillow again and hurled it at Keith Sterling. ’That’s for spouting nonsense!’
Keith Sterling, who had just been hit: "???"
’Why hit me again?’
Keith Sterling pressed his palms together, begging for mercy. "My mistake, my mistake! I’ll take my leave now, Sis-in-law. I won’t disturb you two anymore!"
With that, he turned to make a quick escape.
Sienna Everett’s eyes narrowed. "You, stop right there."
Keith Sterling froze in place and turned back with a miserable expression. "Is there anything else, Sis-in-law?"
Just as Sienna Everett was about to speak, her phone rang. It was a call from Isabelle Sutton.
Sienna Everett swiped the screen to answer.
By now, Julian Forrester understood. What Keith Sterling had said earlier about Sienna Everett missing him was clearly just Keith shooting his mouth off. And he’d actually believed it.
’And here I was, thinking Sienna Everett actually missed me.’
Julian Forrester’s eyes narrowed slightly as he shot a cool, indifferent glance at Keith Sterling.
A shiver of fear ran through Keith Sterling.
’I’m so screwed.’
’My brother figured it out!’
After hanging up with Isabelle Sutton, Sienna Everett was no longer in the mood to joke around with Keith Sterling. Her brows knitted together in worry.
"What’s wrong?" Julian Forrester asked, walking over to her.
"Something’s happened with Isabelle Sutton’s family," Sienna Everett said. "Her dad hit another car this afternoon. It wasn’t serious and no one was hurt, so it should have just been a matter of paying for damages and repairs. But the owner of the other car is being difficult and refuses to settle."
The owner of the car that was hit is a man named Jason Summers. He’s a notorious heir who uses his family’s power and influence to stir up trouble.
No matter how much money Isabelle Sutton’s family offers in compensation, Jason Summers refuses to accept it. He’s even threatening to have her father thrown in jail.
Isabelle Sutton’s father has tried calling in favors, but no one dares to go up against Jason Summers.
It just goes to show how powerful this Jason Summers really is.
Isabelle Sutton was crying her eyes out on the phone. She said Jason Summers is about to have her father put in jail. Even if the charges are baseless, Jason Summers is so powerful that nobody can stop him.
After hearing the full story, Keith Sterling was speechless for a moment. "Damn, is that scumbag Jason Summers throwing his weight around again?"
Sienna Everett was worried. "Isabelle Sutton was crying so hard. I’m going to go see her."
’And see how I can help.’
Keith Sterling jerked his chin in Julian Forrester’s direction. "Sis-in-law, why would you need to go yourself? Just ask my brother. It’s nothing for him."
Sienna Everett’s eyes shifted, and she glanced at Julian Forrester beside her.
A grin spread across Keith Sterling’s face. "My brother can get it sorted with just a word."
’That Jason Summers guy might have power and influence...’
’...but compared to my brother, he’s nothing.’
A playful glint appeared in Sienna Everett’s eyes. Without any pretense, she pulled Julian Forrester down onto the sofa. "You’ve had a long day, you must be tired. How about I give you a shoulder rub?"
Julian Forrester: "..."
Keith Sterling pretended to cover his eyes. "I can’t watch! You two take your time being all lovey-dovey. I’m out, I’m out!"
With that, he scurried away.
In the living room, Sienna Everett poured a cup of water and diligently brought it to Julian Forrester. "Here, be careful, it’s hot."
’She was nothing if not adaptable. When you need a favor, you’ve got to have the right attitude.’
Julian Forrester shot her a casual glance, then took out his phone and made a call.
「Three minutes later.」
Sienna Everett’s phone rang again. It was Isabelle Sutton.
Isabelle Sutton was no longer crying; her voice was filled with joyful surprise:
"Sienna, you don’t have to worry about me anymore! It’s all been sorted out!"
"That Jason Summers guy isn’t just dropping the issue, he’s groveling and apologizing to us! He said it was all out of respect for Sienna Everett. Sienna, it was you who helped me, wasn’t it? Thank you so, so much!"
Sienna Everett blinked. And blinked again.
’That fast?’
After hanging up, Sienna Everett looked over at Julian Forrester.
The man raised an eyebrow, his voice low, husky, and magnetic with a hint of teasing. "Sierra, I went through a lot of trouble to help you."
Sienna Everett: "..."
’Dude, you just made one phone call.’
’You didn’t even leave the room or lift a finger. What ’trouble’ did you go through?’
"So, how does Sienna plan to repay me?" His true motive was finally revealed.
"..." Sienna Everett shot him a look. "I’ll give you a shoulder massage, rub your legs, serve you tea... How does that sound?"
"Not good enough."
"Then how do you want me to repay you?"
The man suddenly took her hand. His slightly calloused thumb gently caressed her wrist as a soft chuckle escaped his throat, his voice languid and sexy. "You can repay me with your body."
Sienna Everett: "?"
Sienna Everett’s long lashes fluttered like the wings of a startled butterfly.
After a few seconds, she belatedly snatched her hand back. "In that case, I’d rather just beat you up."
Julian Forrester: "..."
As she spoke, Sienna Everett actually gave him two light thumps on the chest.
She didn’t put any force into it, though.
Julian Forrester glanced down at the spot she had hit, then suddenly raised a hand and grabbed her wrist again. He looked down at her, his eyes dark and deep beneath lowered lashes.
An inexplicable, flirtatious tension filled the air.
Sienna Everett swallowed, suddenly feeling a bit parched. "Um, so... I have something to report to you."
He raised an eyebrow. "Hm?"
’The word "report"... she’s so considerate.’
Sienna Everett broke free from his intense gaze and used her free hand to grab the glass, taking a large gulp of water. After collecting herself, she said, "I ran into Maxwell Sawyer today. Do you remember him?"
The moment Julian Forrester heard that name, his eyes darkened.
Maxwell Sawyer...
Of course he remembered. The reason Sienna Everett had wanted to call off their childhood engagement back then was because she’d fallen for a high school classmate.
And that high school classmate she’d liked was Maxwell Sawyer.
That was also the first time he had ever felt jealousy.
"You ran into Maxwell Sawyer. And then what?" Julian Forrester stared at her intently, as if studying her every move.
"And then?" Sienna Everett thought for a moment before recounting everything in detail. "We chatted for a bit, exchanged phone numbers, and that’s it. Nothing else."
’Exchanged phone numbers...’
Julian Forrester shot a look at her phone, dark clouds swirling in his eyes.
But at that exact moment, Sienna Everett remarked with a sigh, "People really do change as they get older. Maxwell Sawyer is so much more handsome now than he was back in school..."
Before she could finish her sentence, the man’s hand suddenly clamped onto her chin.
