Chapter 66: Chapter 66: The Man’s Scheme to Coax His Wife
Sienna Everett was taken aback. "What are you doing?"
Julian Forrester stared at her, his eyes dark and heavy with a brooding pressure. His fair, handsome face seemed to be covered in a layer of frost.
Jealousy surged within him once more.
Sienna Everett had only ever praised him when she was drunk.
But now, she was praising Maxwell Sawyer so openly.
As Julian Forrester stared at her without a word, Sienna Everett’s heart began to pound.
She wanted to escape his grip, but Julian Forrester gave her no chance to get away.
The man pinched her chin, his long, cool fingers tracing lightly over her skin. After a long moment, he finally spoke, his voice sharp and laced with a chilling air:
"Sienna Everett, your taste in men is as bad as ever."
Sienna Everett: "?"
’Whose taste is bad?!’
Sienna Everett fumed, puffing her cheeks as she glared back. "You’re the one with bad taste! Even if my taste is bad, yours is even worse!"
Julian Forrester frowned.
Sienna Everett slapped his hand away from her chin. "Let go of me. And keep your hands to yourself."
Julian Forrester’s expression turned cold.
Sienna Everett stiffened her neck like a bristling kitten. "You say I have bad taste? Well, I thought you were better looking! I’ve thought you were handsome since we were kids! Fine, I guess that just proves my taste is bad!"
Julian Forrester froze, a dazed look on his face for a moment.
With a huff, Sienna Everett stood up and walked away, leaving him with a view of the back of her head. She didn’t want to deal with him anymore.
’If I ever talk to him again, I’m a puppy!’
Julian Forrester watched her sulking figure retreat, his eyes narrowing slightly. A moment later, he picked up his phone and sent a message to his assistant, Samuel Sutton.
Samuel Sutton, who was in the middle of gnawing on a chicken leg, stared at the message for several seconds.
’Investigate Maxwell Sawyer?’
’Who is Maxwell Sawyer?’
’Mr. Forrester wants me to investigate Maxwell Sawyer and get his recent, detailed information?’
Samuel Sutton knew very well that as a qualified, considerate assistant, he absolutely should not ask questions about things that weren’t his business.
’It’s just investigating some Maxwell Sawyer. Simple.’
「During dinner.」
At Veridian Gardens, the old butler was directing the maids to serve the food when he noticed the atmosphere at the dinner table was off.
’Why isn’t Miss Everett saying a single word to the master?’
’She isn’t even eating the food he puts on her plate.’
’Could it be... they had a fight?’
’No way. Ever since Miss Everett moved into Veridian Gardens, the two of them had never fought before. Why were they suddenly giving each other the cold shoulder today?’
’What happened?’
It wasn’t just the old butler. The next day, Samuel Sutton also noticed something was wrong.
During the meeting, Mr. Forrester exuded a low-pressure aura, filling the entire conference room with a daunting, cold hostility.
All the senior executives below were on pins and needles, not even daring to breathe too loudly.
A few of the less mentally resilient ones couldn’t stop wiping away their sweat.
After finally getting through the meeting, which felt like walking on thin ice, several executives immediately pulled Samuel Sutton into a corner and asked all at once, "Special Assistant Sutton, what’s going on? Is Mr. Forrester in a bad mood today?"
Samuel Sutton was wondering the same thing.
One of the executives patted his chest, still shaken. "That was too intense. My project proposal had a tiny mistake, and even though Mr. Forrester didn’t say anything, the look he shot me was enough to make me wet my pants!"
Samuel Sutton rolled his eyes, speechless. "Then don’t make mistakes."
The executive rubbed the few remaining hairs on his head. "It’s weird. I made a mistake on my last proposal too, but Mr. Forrester didn’t hold me accountable at all. This time it was just a small error, so why did it feel like he was about to take my head off?"
Samuel Sutton’s brow furrowed. "Don’t just run your mouth. Mr. Forrester has always been fair and impartial when it comes to business, rewarding and punishing as deserved."
The executive grew agitated. "It’s true! Why would I lie to you, Special Assistant Sutton? It was a while ago, that time Mr. Forrester gave the entire company a raise!"
Samuel Sutton thought back for a moment, and then it all clicked.
’That was right after Mr. Forrester and Miss Everett got their marriage certificate. He was in an unprecedentedly good mood, so he gave everyone in the company a raise. It makes sense that he’d let an employee’s mistake slide...’
Wait a minute, Samuel Sutton suddenly realized.
’Mr. Forrester has been in a bad mood all day... It couldn’t be because of Miss Everett, could it?’
That evening after work, Samuel Sutton drove the man back to Veridian Gardens.
After they got out of the car, Samuel Sutton immediately found the old butler of Veridian Gardens and asked in a low voice, "Are Mr. Forrester and Miss Everett fighting?"
The old butler looked worried. "The atmosphere has been a little off since last night."
Samuel Sutton started to worry too.
’Miss Everett’s influence on Mr. Forrester is really something else.’
As the old butler fretted, his eyes suddenly lit up. He scrambled back to his room on his stiff, arthritic legs and dug out some old books he had treasured for more than a decade.
’The only reason the master is fighting with Miss Everett is because he has no experience with things like being in a relationship!’
The old butler ran up to Samuel Sutton, holding the books, his tone full of confidence. "Special Assistant Sutton, give these books to the master. They’ll definitely help them make up!"
Samuel Sutton looked over curiously, and in the next second, he was speechless.
The books were—

Samuel Sutton: "..."
’What is all this junk?’
’If this stuff actually worked, he’d eat his hat!’
Samuel Sutton pushed the books away and went to the living room to investigate himself.
Oh boy. Miss Everett was sitting on the sofa looking at her phone—he couldn’t tell if she was busy or chatting with someone. When she saw Mr. Forrester come home from work, she merely lifted her gaze to look at him for a second before doing nothing else.
Samuel Sutton scratched his hair in frustration.
’What am I going to do?’
In the living room, Julian Forrester reached up to loosen his tie, glanced emotionlessly at Sienna Everett on the sofa, and then turned and walked out.
Alarmed, Samuel Sutton quickly chased after him. "Mr. Forrester, are you going out?"
The man stopped, looking down to adjust his cufflinks, his expression indifferent. "I don’t feel well."
Samuel Sutton froze for a second, his face growing anxious. He frantically fumbled for his phone. "I’ll call the family doctor right away!"
Julian Forrester didn’t speak. Instead, he slowly turned his head, his gaze landing on Sienna Everett in the living room.
Samuel Sutton paused his movement to pull out his phone. Suddenly, inspiration struck, and he understood.
’I’m a genius!’
Samuel Sutton calmly put his phone away, then yelled at the top of his lungs toward Sienna Everett in the living room, "Miss Everett, come quick! Mr. Forrester doesn’t feel well! He’s in so much pain he’s shaking all over! He almost fainted just now!"
His shout was incredibly tragic.
He even embellished it a little.
The moment Sienna Everett heard this, her brow furrowed.
She hadn’t wanted to get involved, but... ’In so much pain he almost fainted?’
