Chapter 77: Chapter 77: Baby, My Hand Has Fallen Asleep
Samuel Sutton drove to the hospital as fast as he could.
The hospital director, leading a group of specialists, immediately rushed over to greet them, and then saw Julian Forrester, his face etched with anxiety, helping a woman out of the car with his arm around her.
Everyone recognized her at a glance. The woman was none other than the celebrity Sienna Everett, who had been trending online for the past two days.
They all froze for a second.
’How did a celebrity like Sienna Everett get involved with a man of his stature?’
And their relationship seemed very close. Mr. Forrester was treating her as if she were his most precious treasure.
But their shock lasted only a second before the director immediately stepped forward. "Mr. Forrester, I assume this is the young lady who needs a consultation? Special Assistant Sutton gave me a rundown of the situation over the phone. Since it’s urgent, let’s get her to an examination room first."
Julian Forrester’s expression was grim. "Alright."
Inside the examination room, Sienna Everett was helped onto a bed, where several specialists began their joint consultation.
Samuel Sutton wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. He glanced over to see that Mr. Forrester’s brow was still tightly furrowed; it was clear he was extremely worried about Miss Everett’s condition.
The specialists didn’t dare to delay and immediately began examining Sienna Everett.
After all, this was someone Julian Forrester had brought in personally. They wouldn’t dare be negligent.
Noticing the red, swollen patches on Sienna Everett’s exposed skin, the specialists exchanged a few words in low voices before turning to her. "Miss Everett, are you feeling any tightness in your chest or numbness in your limbs right now?"
Sienna Everett nodded. She didn’t just feel tightness in her chest; her breathing was starting to become difficult too.
The most senior specialist said, "Miss Everett, you’re having a severe allergic reaction. If it gets any worse, it could lead to anaphylactic shock."
’An allergic reaction? Shock?’
Sienna Everett froze. She was allergic to mangoes, but she hadn’t touched a single one today.
The doctors immediately began Sienna Everett’s treatment while simultaneously working to identify the allergen.
When Julian Forrester heard the words "anaphylactic shock," his brow furrowed even tighter, and the atmosphere around him grew heavy and oppressive.
「In the hospital room.」
Sienna Everett was propped up in the hospital bed, an IV drip in her arm. The tightness in her chest had begun to ease. "So it was just an allergic reaction. To think I caused such a fuss..."
’It’s actually a little embarrassing.’
Samuel Sutton said with a look of lingering fear, "Miss Everett, the doctor just said that if it had gotten any more serious, you could have gone into shock. It’s a good thing we got here in time."
"Besides, you were sick, and Mr. Forrester was so worried. It doesn’t matter if it’s a major illness or a minor one, it can’t be taken lightly!"
Samuel Sutton was starting to understand. It didn’t matter that it was a dangerous allergic reaction; even if Miss Everett had just been uncomfortable with a common fever, Mr. Forrester would have been just as tense.
Upon hearing this, Sienna Everett glanced at Julian Forrester, who was beside her.
’Just a moment ago,’ she recalled, ’when we didn’t know it was an allergic reaction, my skin was covered in scary-looking red welts. Yet Julian Forrester held me without any hesitation and told me not to be afraid.’
Sienna Everett’s fingers curled unconsciously as an indescribable flutter welled up in her heart.
Samuel Sutton, ever so perceptive, cleverly excused himself from the room, not wanting to be a third wheel.
Only Sienna Everett and Julian Forrester remained in the hospital room.
The man sat on the chair by her bed and gently stroked her hair. "Are you still feeling very uncomfortable?"
Sienna Everett shook her head. The IV was already taking effect; she didn’t feel so awful anymore.
But the red, swollen skin on her arm was still a little itchy, and she couldn’t resist the urge to scratch it.
Quick as a flash, Julian Forrester caught her hand. His voice was gently coaxing, "Just bear with it. Don’t touch."
Thanks to her illness, a watery sheen veiled Sienna Everett’s clear eyes, and the corners were tinged with red, making her seem somewhat fragile. "But it’s really itchy. Just one scratch, I promise. Just one."
Julian Forrester kept his hand on hers, his low, mellow voice soft and incredibly patient. "Be good, Sienna. Listen to me."
Sienna Everett was genuinely itchy and still wanted to scratch.
Julian Forrester, at a loss, carefully avoided the IV needle and began to gently press his fingers on the swollen red skin of her arm. "Is that a little better?"
The itching subsided instantly, and she nodded in relief.
As Julian Forrester continued to gently massage her arm, he shot her a sideways glance. "Did you eat mangoes?"
Sienna Everett immediately shook her head like a bobblehead doll. "No!"
She knew she was allergic to mangoes; why would she ever be foolish enough to eat one on purpose?
Sienna Everett was about to say something when she suddenly realized something and asked curiously, "You still remember that I’m allergic to mangoes? I thought you’d forgotten long ago."
The man gave her a slow, deliberate glance, his tone unreadable. "Of course I remember things that have to do with you."
Sienna Everett froze, blinking once, then twice. "No wonder you’re still holding a grudge because I bit you when we were little."
Julian Forrester: "?"
’Holding a grudge?’
Julian Forrester was so exasperated he almost laughed. He stared at her for a long moment without saying a word.
Suddenly, he leaned in, his face moving closer to hers.
Sienna Everett’s eyelids twitched, and she instinctively flinched back.
But she was propped up in the bed with the wall right behind her head. There was nowhere to go. She held her breath involuntarily. "What are you doing, getting so close?"
The man’s dark eyes were fixed on her. His gaze drifted down suggestively, landing on her cherry-red lips.
Then, a low, sexy voice rumbled from his throat, tinged with a hint of playfulness. "Since I’m so good at holding a grudge, don’t you think I should bite you back to even the score?"
!!!
Sienna Everett’s eyes flew wide.
’He wants to bite me back?’
Suddenly, the jarring ring of a cell phone shattered the subtle, intimate atmosphere in the air.
It was Sienna Everett’s phone.
’It’s almost midnight. Who could be calling her?’
Sienna Everett pulled out her phone and glanced at the screen. The caller ID read: Maxwell Sawyer.
Julian Forrester naturally saw the name, and the air around him instantly grew cold. A frosty, somber look settled over his features.
Sienna Everett took the opportunity to push him away. "I need to take this call."
With that, she swiped the screen to answer.
Maxwell Sawyer’s clear, pleasant voice came through the receiver. "Sienna, I’m so sorry to call this late and bother you, but there’s something I need your help with."
Sienna Everett asked, puzzled, "What is it? I’m at the hospital right now, so it might not be a good time."
"The hospital?" Maxwell Sawyer immediately asked, alarmed. "Are you sick? Why are you in the hospital?"
Sienna Everett replied, "An allergic reaction."
Maxwell Sawyer pressed, "An allergic reaction? What are you allergic to? Is it serious?"
Sienna Everett glanced at her IV drip and gave a short reply, "It’s not serious. I’m already much better."
’It was amazing,’ she thought. ’After all these years, Julian Forrester still remembered I was allergic to mangoes.’
On the other end of the line, a hint of worry crept into Maxwell Sawyer’s voice. "Which hospital are you in? I’ll come visit you right now."
The room was quiet enough for Julian Forrester to overhear the question. His eyes narrowed slightly as he stared silently at Sienna Everett.
His stare made her heart hammer in her chest. She couldn’t help but question him with her eyes. ’What is it?’
Julian Forrester was sitting by the bed, and his hand was pinned under her arm from their earlier exchange.
He looked at his trapped hand and spoke in a lazy drawl, making no effort to lower his voice, ensuring the person on the other end of the call could hear him clearly.
"Baby, you’re making my hand go numb."
