Chapter 82: Secret Behind Murong Family’s Wealth

Once Bai Yue and Bai Yanfei entered the Murong family’s territory, everyone began running away in fear.

They had seen the battle in the sky and were packing up to escape, but the two women didn't allow these people very much time to act out their escape.

Bai Yanfei and Bai Yue began killing any Murong family member they saw, as the place contained countless slaves from old to young. Bai Yue began wondering if this was the secret behind the Murong family’s wealth.

Slave trading is a very lucrative business, but it is looked down upon and would cause public outrage. For the Murong family to do this on such a large scale was simply evil and needed to be eliminated.

As Bai Yue and Bai Yanfei continued to kill Murong family members, more slaves were uncovered, locked up in the most secretive places. Everywhere they looked had a new group of slaves locked up.

Along with this were large amounts of skeletons that belonged to former slaves. Many of them were found next to a massive field of cultivation herbs that stretched far into the distance.

These herbs were blood-red and had deep red flowers. The ground around them was soaked in blood, and the sight was gruesome and smelled like death.

As Bai Yanfei took a closer look, she was shocked by what kind of herbs they were.

"This is a banned herb," Bai Yanfei explained. "If it is found that someone is growing it, many people will come and attack whoever grew them."

"Why is it banned?" Bai Yue asked as she turned away from the unpleasant sight.

"These herbs take a large amount of human sacrifice and care to grow. It takes the death of about five people to irrigate a single herb to full maturity. Once they are fully grown, they help a cultivator break through much easier than normal herbs or pills."

"How cruel. Just how many lives would it take to grow all these herbs on this farm? I can’t even see the end to how many herbs are being grown on just this piece of land."

"It probably costs hundreds of thousands of lives to grow this many herbs. The Murong family is simply too vicious to gain wealth in this way."

"Let’s hurry and kill them. I don't want them to continue living any longer."

Bai Yanfei agreed, and the two women continued to slaughter the Murong family members. No matter how hard they tried to run, the two women found and killed them before they could escape.

The Murong family had a large number of people, as their territory was far larger than the other major families. Killing every single one was very tedious, as they just kept appearing no matter how many were killed.

No matter how many Murong family members were killed, though, the slaves remained meek and silent, seemingly having been domesticated. They didn't feel any emotion despite being freed from their slavery.

This fueled Bai Yanfei and Bai Yue’s drive to kill more Murong family members, as this was far too sad of a sight to look at.

Once the whole territory was searched through, the Murong family was now officially eliminated. This made Bai Yue and Bai Yanfei feel satisfied by what they had accomplished.

Now they had another problem, as there were far too many slaves here to just leave alone. They couldn't bring them along, but just leaving them here to fend for themselves seemed far too uncaring.

Wondering what to do, Bai Yanfei thought of an idea that she decided to try.

"Are any of you the leader around here who can come to speak with me?"

The slaves remained silent for a while, which led Bai Yanfei to question if her method actually worked. Finally, after waiting some more, an elderly man came forward responding to her call.

"I am the leader of these people," the elderly man spoke in a weary voice. "What have you called me for?"

"I would like to ask if you understand that you are now free from the Murong family’s control?"

"We do understand that you have killed our captors, but we are weak and can’t fend for ourselves very easily after a long life of servitude. Some of us have only ever been in servitude and don't understand what freedom is."

"Then do you have any plans now that you are free? I can give you all the Murong family’s wealth, and you can settle down somewhere safe."

"None of us expected to be freed today and we have no plans in particular, but some of us old folk still remember what it was like to have freedom before being captured. If you give us some means, we can take care of ourselves."

"Take whatever you want from this place. I’ll give you the entire wealth of the Murong family, and all you need to do is make sure to survive."

"Thank you very much, kind miss."

The elderly man then turned around and gestured for the other slaves to listen.

"We are now free to do what we want. Come and take whatever valuables are in this place. We shall leave and find a new home to live peacefully from now on."

The slaves, who were inanimate this entire time, started to show signs of life after the old man’s words. They had soft cheers and discussions before going about their task of looting the area.

Once the slaves were done, everyone present was carrying a large sack of valuables. The Murong family territory was now barren of wealth and only contained the structures of buildings.

"We will now take our leave," the elderly man bowed. "Thank you for all you have done for us."

"No problem," Bai Yue responded. "Just make sure to take care of yourselves."

The elderly man continued his bow for a little longer before turning to lead the group of slaves away. It didn't take long before the Murong family was empty of people and now felt deserted.

"I hope they manage to survive," Bai Yue said after everyone had left.

"We can only leave it up to fate if they survive," Bai Yanfei responded. "We can’t take care of them ourselves."

Bai Yue nodded, as she understood it was true. Still, with the wealth they had taken away, they should be fine to live the rest of their lives comfortably.

"Shall we head back to regroup with Jiang Yun?" Bai Yue asked. "Now that we are done, it should be about time to move to the last destination."

"It is indeed about time we go destroy the Chu family. We have spent far too much time here just to destroy the Murong family, and if we don't rush, the day just might end."

"Then let’s hurry. If we wait too long, they might receive news of what we are doing and become more on guard against our attack."

"That would indeed make things much harder. Let’s go then, since there is nothing left to do here."

Bai Yue nodded, and the two women flew up to regroup with Jiang Yun.

Once the three reunited, Bai Yue explained what had happened inside the Murong family territory. Jiang Yun simply nodded, as he could see what was happening from up in the sky.

Since he already knew, Bai Yue stopped explaining and told Jiang Yun about going to the Chu family. Once Bai Yue finished explaining, the three started flying to the Chu family.

It didn't take long for the three to arrive.

The sight of the Chu family, though, could be said to be breathtaking, as it was high up on a flat mountain covered in clouds. The view of the place being so well hidden in the sky was a sight to behold.

Though it was about the same size as the Yang family, it made up for it by where it was built on top of. It was the first time Bai Yue had seen a sight like this.

"Let’s begin," Bai Yanfei noted, as she was in a rush.

Bai Yue stopped paying attention to the view, as she had seen enough landscapes for today. She quickly nodded, as she was ready to start the attack on the Chu family at any time.

Prompted by Bai Yue’s reassurance, Bai Yanfei had no reason to wait any longer.

"Get out here, those of you from the Chu family! Come out and accept death!"

After speaking, the three waited for the Chu family to come and intercept them, but after waiting for a while, nothing happened.

Wondering what was going on, Bai Yanfei decided to try again.

"Stop being cowards and face us! We are from the Bai family and have come to take revenge!"

Still, after another provocation, nobody came out of the Chu family territory.

Bai Yanfei was now very confused about what was happening, as a large family like the Chu family wasn't one to take insults lying down. She could no longer continue to wait, and began flying towards the Chu family to see what was happening.

Bai Yue followed close behind, as the situation was indeed very bizarre.
