It was like being buried beneath tens of thousands of meters of deep-sea silt, where even the air was so thick it made breathing difficult.

“Doesn’t seem like… there’s anything here.”

Lilia muttered, just about to pull her head back.

Suddenly—

An overwhelming suction force erupted from deep within the doorway without any warning!

It felt like an invisible giant hand had grabbed her by the collar.

“Wha—”

Before she could even finish the word, Lilia was yanked in like a rag doll with a whoosh!

“Bang!”

The stone door slammed shut behind her, sealing perfectly as if it had never opened.

From outside came Dora and Bulara’s startled cries, but through the thick stone door, they sounded like distant muffled thuds from miles away.

It’s over.

That was the first thought that popped into Lilia’s mind.

Walk by the river often enough, and your shoes are bound to get wet. This time, she was completely soaked.

Scrambling to her feet, her first instinct was to activate the newly acquired “Time Stop.” Whatever monsters lurked inside, she’d freeze them first!

However—

Just as the power began to circulate, Lilia froze.

Less than ten meters in front of her, something was floating.

That was… a piece of skin.

A perfectly intact, yet completely hollow human skin.

It wasn’t collapsed on the ground, but stood upright in midair in an eerie posture, as if filled with air.

The skin was pale to the point of translucence, covered in delicate blue-white patterns resembling the blood vessels of some deep-sea creature. Its texture looked slick, even subtly writhing, as if it possessed some form of life.

A chill shot from the soles of Lilia’s feet straight to the top of her head.

This thing… had no face.

Where facial features should have been, there was only smooth skin—no holes, no openings.

Yet Lilia could feel it “watching” her.

That sensation of being locked onto by something indescribable made every hair on her body stand on end.

Pressed tightly against the stone door behind her, Lilia gripped her black dagger, her voice trembling slightly:

“B-big brother? Big sister?”

“We’ve got no grudges between us, I didn’t steal your rice or anything… If I disturbed your rest, could you just open the door and let me roll out myself?”

The skin didn’t respond.

It just hovered there quietly, without killing intent, without malice.

As if… it had no soul at all.

Just as Lilia was considering whether to use Time Stop and forcibly break the door, the skin suddenly moved.

Its hollow sleeve—like an arm—lifted stiffly.

There were no fingers, just a membranous end.

It pointed straight toward the center of the massive hall.

Lilia subconsciously followed its direction.

There, stood a solitary black stone platform.

On top of it, something red was embedded.

It was a fork.

Entirely crimson, as if forged from freshly coagulated blood. Its design was ancient, even crude—like an ordinary dining utensil used to spear steak on a common table.

But it was enormous.

Nearly two meters tall, stuck upside down into the platform, the surrounding air subtly distorting from its presence.

Even from this distance, Lilia could feel the nauseating stench of blood and ominous aura emanating from it.

The skin pointed at the fork, then at Lilia.

Though it didn’t speak and had no face, Lilia somehow understood its meaning:

Go.

Pull it out.

“I’m not going.” Lilia refused without hesitation. “Something that looks that cursed—only an idiot would touch it. My mom taught me not to pick up random things off the roadside.”

The skin seemed not to expect such a blunt refusal.

It paused.

Then its pointing motion became more urgent. The smooth “face” surface began to ripple violently, as if something inside was trying to break out.

The already thick air grew even heavier, pressing down until Lilia’s bones creaked.

This was a threat.

A blatant threat.

If she didn’t go pull out that fork, this skin might just swallow her whole.

Lilia clenched her teeth.

She was stuck.

The door behind her was sealed, and in front of her was a sanity-draining skin monster forcing her to grab an even more sinister-looking fork.

Why was everything in this Black Sea dungeon so cursed?

“Fine, fine! I’ll go! I’ll go, alright?!”

Lilia raised both hands in surrender. “Calm down, getting wrinkles isn’t good for you.”

As she cracked lame jokes to ease her nerves, she slowly moved toward the stone platform.

Since the System was playing dead, she could only rely on herself.

She still held Time Stop in reserve. Worst case, she’d grab the fork and activate it to escape—maybe even snag another Divine Artifact on the way.

Thinking this, the greedy little voice in Lilia’s heart came back to life.

Standing before the platform, she examined the massive red fork up close.

At close range, it looked even more sinister. There seemed to be tiny inscriptions carved all over it… almost like a recipe?

Lilia took a deep breath.

She reached out and gripped the cold handle.

Boom!

The moment her palm touched the fork, the “human skin” floating in the distance suddenly deflated like a punctured balloon. Then it transformed into a streak of blue-white light—so fast that even Time Stop couldn’t react—and shot straight into the red fork!

The previously lifeless fork suddenly erupted with a blinding red glow!
