Dora’s muffled voice came from below. The massive dragon head tilted slightly, her golden vertical pupils filled with longing for braised pork.
Lilia’s mouth twitched, her good mood instantly dampened.
This thing was a bottomless pit.
“What’s the rush? Once we get back to the Demon King’s Castle, you won’t go hungry.” Lilia patted the hard scales on the dragon’s neck and brushed her off.
Dora snorted, seemingly satisfied with the answer. With a flap of her wings, her speed surged again, carving a white wake across the sea.
Clinging to the tip of the dragon’s tail, Xiao Hong was hugging a bone spike tightly. Her entire body—no, her entire wolf form—was trembling like a leaf.
She had finally figured it out.
This silver-haired woman was basically a demon wearing human skin! Not only could she treat those terrifying deep-sea monsters like a buffet, she could even command this not-so-bright dragon as a mount.
Back in that underground treasury, she had seen with her own eyes Lilia pull out that terrifying red fork she didn’t even dare look at. The murderous aura alone had nearly sent her to the afterlife.
“Um… M-my lady…”
Xiao Hong spoke tremblingly, her voice shredded by the wind.
Lilia glanced back at her.
Just that one look made Xiao Hong shrink into her red cloak, leaving only a pair of terrified eyes exposed.
“I… I’ll become a vegetarian from now on! Really! I’ll grow radishes when I get back, I’ll never eat meat again!” Xiao Hong raised one paw to swear, her claws retracting in fear. “Please don’t kill me…”
Lilia raised an eyebrow.
“A vegetarian?”
She scoffed lightly, casually spinning the fork in her hand.
Xiao Hong froze, thinking Lilia was about to silence her, and tears immediately welled up in her eyes.
“As long as you don’t cause trouble and don’t target people you shouldn’t,” Lilia said indifferently, her tone cold, “eat meat if you want. Just don’t let anyone see it. Got it?”
That was the rule of the Demon Realm.
The strong prey on the weak—it was natural law. Though Lilia came from a civilized world, these past months had taught her that excessive kindness here would only get her killed.
Xiao Hong felt as if she had been pardoned, nodding frantically like a pecking chicken.
“Got it! Got it! I’ll follow the rules from now on!”
As they spoke, the black coastline disappeared into the distance, replaced by the familiar black wasteland known as the Sighing Mountains.
Dora’s massive body descended slowly, kicking up clouds of dust and debris.
“Alright, we’ll stop here.”
Lilia jumped off the dragon’s back, patting the dust off her skirt.
This was the edge of the Sighing Mountains. Beyond lay the Dark Forest. According to their agreement, Dora would only escort them out of the Black Sea. After this, she was supposed to return to her canyon and continue being a “left-behind child.”
“Thanks. I’ll treat you to a meal next time.”
Lilia waved her hand, making a gesture to part ways, pulling Bulara along to leave.
This dragon’s combat power was insane, but her appetite was even more terrifying. If she brought her back to the Demon King’s Castle, before Hera even approved any budget, her own savings would be eaten clean.
And this thing was missing a screw in the head—if she caused trouble in the palace, Lilia would be the one taking the blame.
However, after only two steps, Lilia felt her collar tighten.
A huge force lifted her off the ground like a chick.
“Where are you going?”
Dora’s enlarged face came close, her eyes gleaming dangerously.
“Of course I’m going home.” Lilia kicked her legs midair, trying to struggle. “We’re even now. You go back to your canyon and sleep.”
“No.”
Dora refused righteously, tightening her grip on Lilia’s collar.
“You said I’d be fed.”
She snorted hot air, blowing Lilia’s bangs into disarray. “I’m hungry. If you don’t feed me, I’ll eat you.”
As she spoke, she deliberately opened her mouth wide, revealing rows of sharp white teeth—a true blood basin.
Lilia looked at those teeth, each larger than her head, and fell silent.
“Listen…” Lilia took a deep breath, trying to reason with the dragon. “The Demon King’s Castle has strict rules. Large pets aren’t allowed. And with your size, you can’t even fit through the door.”
“I can shrink.”
For the sake of food, Dora went all out. Black mist surged, and the massive dragon that blocked out the sky vanished instantly.
The next moment, a violent loli wearing a tattered black cloak, with dragon horns on her head and a tail dragging behind her, appeared in her place. She even hid the bone club behind her back, putting on an “I’m very well-behaved” expression.
“See? I don’t take up space.”
Dora blinked, looking like she had completely decided to stick with Lilia.
Lilia held her forehead.
This was bad.
She couldn’t shake her off anymore.
Inviting a god was easy—sending one away was hard. Especially one that could treat forbidden spells like candy.
“Fine, fine.” Lilia sighed helplessly, feeling her wallet scream in agony. “You can come, but we set three rules.”
“First, no relieving yourself anywhere—ugh, I mean no randomly destroying things!”
“Second, don’t eat anything other than what I give you, especially not living people!”
“Third, and most important—when that madwoman… ahem, when Her Majesty is around, you act like a normal… bodyguard? Anyway, don’t embarrass me!”
Dora’s mind was already filled with the scent of braised pork. She nodded rapidly without even thinking.
“As long as there’s meat, anything you say goes!”
“Let’s go!”
……
At the same time.
Deep beneath the Black Sea, in the Bone Palace.
“Heh.”
A cold laugh echoed through the deathly silent hall, sending chills down one’s spine.
The Siren sat on the only remaining coral throne, her once flawless face now covered in frost. In her hand, she toyed with a black whip, its tip snapping lightly like a living thing.
In front of her, the pink-haired loli Sera knelt on the ground, curled into a ball, trembling.
“Was it good?”
The Siren’s voice was soft, yet suffocatingly oppressive.
Sera awkwardly scratched her messy hair, her gaze drifting. She didn’t dare look at the empty treasury, nor at her furious “mother.”
“W-what are you talking about, Mom…”
“Playing dumb?”
The Siren raised an eyebrow.
“You know I’m not talking about those gold coins.”
Those glittering trinkets meant nothing. As long as the sea existed, money could always be regained.
What truly angered her was the crystal ball taken by Lilia.
“I placed that thing on the innermost shelf. I didn’t even allow dust to settle on it.”
The whip in her hand snapped sharply, making Sera flinch.
“I told you to guard the door, not to watch… that kind of vulgar content!”
The more she spoke, the angrier she became, her chest rising and falling.
“At such a young age, already watching that kind of video…”
The Siren gritted her teeth, feeling like not only had her cabbage been eaten by a pig, but it had also learned how to eat others.
“And it was that woman’s!”
Most importantly, such a good thing hadn’t even been shown to her, the mother, for appreciation first?!
Instead, it was confiscated by that little maid named Lilia?!
“Waaah… I’ve been wronged!”
Sera finally couldn’t hold it in anymore and burst into tears, snot and tears flowing.
“I only just opened it! Really!”
“I was just curious… I wanted to see what the woman who made you so angry looked like…”
“I didn’t even finish the intro before that violent girl snatched it away!”
She cried miserably, feeling more wronged than anyone.
Was it easy for her?
Not only had her snacks been taken, she was forced into labor, and now her own mother doubted her character.
“Didn’t watch?”
The Siren paused, her expression suddenly becoming subtle.
“You really didn’t watch?”
“Really! I swear!” Sera raised three fingers. “If I did, may I never eat strawberry cookies again for the rest of my life!”
The hall fell into brief silence.
Only Sera’s sniffles echoed.
The Siren stared at the empty corner for a long time before irritably tossing the whip aside.
“Couldn’t even protect something so small.”
That was Hera’s black silk teacher outfit…
