“Fifteen minutes.” Hera glanced at the hourglass floating in midair, her tone calm. “A bit more durable than expected.”

Lilia almost spat out a mouthful of blood.

She was practically living like livestock—training to the point of nearly vomiting.

This red fork, however, had become smoother to use the more she used it. It had even awakened a passive skill called 【Crimson Feast】—as long as it tasted blood, it could devour the enemy’s magic power to feed back to the user.

Although it could only absorb a negligible amount for now, it at least allowed her to evolve from “instantly collapsing” into “able to last fifteen minutes.”

“That’s enough for today.” Hera dispersed the magic in her hand and turned toward the Bedchamber. “Go clean yourself up. Come to my room tonight.”

Lilia had just been about to collapse on the ground and play dead, but upon hearing this, she jolted upright.

“S-still training?” she wailed.

Hera paused slightly, turning her head, a trace of amusement flashing through her golden eyes.

Lilia blinked, not quite understanding.

Hera’s gaze swept across the tight-fitting black-and-white maid outfit on Lilia’s body, speaking meaningfully, “I’m very interested in that layer of ‘skin’ on you.”

……

Palace of Eternal Night, Demon Queen’s Bedchamber.

Outside the massive floor-to-ceiling window was the eternally unchanging violet moon of the Abyss. Inside, candlelight flickered, and the air carried a faint, cool scent of cedar.

Lilia shrank into the corner of the large bed like a quail, her hands tightly guarding her chest.

“M-Master, this really is just a defensive equipment!” Lilia’s voice trembled. “It doesn’t have any other strange functions! Really!”

Hera had changed into a loose silk night robe, reclining lazily against the headboard with a glass of crimson liquid in hand. She set the glass aside and beckoned Lilia with a finger.

“Come here.”

Lilia swallowed hard. Between disobeying and being turned into a specimen, or obeying and being toyed with, she decisively chose the latter. She slowly shuffled forward, and just as she got close, Hera grabbed her wrist and pressed her into the soft velvet bedding.

Hera didn’t do anything excessive. She simply extended her long, cool fingers and lightly traced along Lilia’s arm.

Something miraculous happened.

As Hera’s fingers moved, the mimetic fabric known as the “Skin of the Sea God” rippled visibly like a living entity. The originally iron-hard defensive layer became soft, sensitive, and even slightly warm under the infusion of magic.

“As expected.” Hera narrowed her eyes and pressed slightly harder with her fingertip.

“Mm!” Lilia trembled all over, a strange tingling sensation shooting up her spine straight to her head, nearly making her cry out.

This was absurd!

She was clearly wearing “clothes,” so why did it feel like her nerves were being touched directly?

“Quite interesting indeed.” As if discovering a new continent, Hera’s fingers slid from Lilia’s arm to her shoulder, then down along her collarbone. “It can perfectly transmit sensation while blocking damage… What if I inject magic into it?”

“D-don’t try it!” Lilia was nearly in tears, desperately trying to shrink back. “It’ll break! It really will break!”

What kind of broken equipment setting was this?!

It was supposed to be a mythical-grade defensive gear—how did it become more improper than lingerie in Hera’s hands?

Hera ignored her protest completely, condensing a weak lightning-type magic in her palm and pressing it directly onto Lilia’s lower abdomen.

Zzzzt——

The Skin of the Sea God actually made a sound.

Buzz buzz buzz…

Lilia’s whole body jolted as if electrocuted, then went limp, collapsing weakly, her face flushed red as she gasped for breath, her eyes slightly unfocused.

“The defense mechanism is very sensitive, but the logic is too rigid.” Hera evaluated, withdrawing her hand, seemingly satisfied with the results. “As long as the magic frequency synchronizes with it, this layer of skin becomes the best conductor.”

She looked at Lilia, who lay on the bed questioning her life, and curled her lips in a pleased smile, reaching out to rub her silver hair.

“Sleep.”

Lilia buried her head into the pillow, cursing the Deep Sea God who created this equipment a hundred and eighty times in her heart.

It could block physical attacks, but not the boss’s twisted preferences!

……

The next morning.

When Lilia walked out of the Bedchamber doors holding her waist, she felt like she was floating.

Although Hera hadn’t continued tormenting her afterward, the shame of being treated like a lab rat and repeatedly tested for “equipment performance” was more exhausting than fighting all night.

“Damn capitalist…” Lilia muttered under her breath, pulling out a piece of magical beast jerky from the System Backpack and biting into it viciously.

Today’s workload was heavy.

The day after tomorrow was the arena’s opening ceremony. Although she had dumped the task of inviting guests onto Camilla, as the chief planner, she still needed to confirm the procedures—especially the security arrangements. Those rats from the Holy Knight Order were still lurking in the shadows, and Dora’s hot-tempered mother was also on her way. If the opening ceremony blew up, Hera would definitely blow her up first.

Just as she stepped out of the main gate of the Palace of Eternal Night and was about to take a breath of fresh air, a black shadow suddenly fell from the sky.

Boom!

The ground trembled, dust rising everywhere.

Lilia gripped the red fork and leaped back warily.

As the dust settled, a small girl with dragon horns was squatting on the ground, holding a roasted whole lamb she had no idea where she got, eating with oil smeared all over her mouth.

“Lilia!”

The moment Dora saw her, her eyes lit up—it was the look of someone seeing a long-term meal ticket. She casually tossed aside the leftover bones and charged over like a cannonball.

“Stop!” Lilia’s eyelids twitched wildly as she hurriedly raised her hand. “Don’t crash into me!!”

Dora made a sudden stop half a meter in front of Lilia, her thick dragon tail wagging excitedly behind her, slapping the stone tiles with loud smacks.

“I’m so bored.” Dora blinked her vertical pupils, looking aggrieved. “This place is no fun at all. That Xiao Hong is even more timid than a slime—just one glance around here and she’s about to faint.”

Lilia rolled her eyes.

“I don’t care!” Dora hugged Lilia’s leg and began acting spoiled, hanging her entire body onto her. “You have to play with me! I want to eat good food! I want to fight!”

With several tons of weight hanging from her leg, Lilia felt her bones crying out.

“Little ancestor, I’m busy!” Lilia tried to pry this humanoid dragon off her. “The big event is the day after tomorrow. I need to go talk business with that big-chested succubus right now. I don’t have time to play house with you.”

“Big-chested?” Dora’s ears perked up.

Lilia’s mouth twitched.

“Then I’m going too!” Dora became even more excited.

Lilia felt a splitting headache coming on.

If this dragon went to the Succubus Tower, it would probably need renovations by today.

“No.” Lilia refused firmly. “Stay in the palace. I’ll have the kitchen send you cows.”

“I don’t want cows!” Dora shook her head like a rattle drum. “Cows taste bad—they get stuck in my teeth! I’m going with you! If you don’t take me, then I’ll…”

Her eyes rolled, and she suddenly took a deep breath, opening her mouth. Deep in her throat, a black-red dragon breath began to gather faintly.

“I’ll howl right here and call your boss out!”

Lilia’s face instantly changed.

If Hera got woken up, she would absolutely hang both of them from a streetlamp!

“Fine fine fine! I’ll take you, alright?!” Lilia covered Dora’s mouth with one hand, nearly crying. “Ancestor, put the fire away! We’re leaving right now!”
