Those damned demons actually built something called… a White Rose Arena?”

A man beside him, wiping his longsword, leaned in and glanced at it under the light, letting out a cold laugh. “Hmph. Demons will always be demons. Their heads can’t hold anything but violence and bloodshed. I heard that Demon Queen will personally attend?”

“That’s right!”

The lead scout lowered his voice, his eyes gleaming with near-fanatical excitement. “The intel is absolutely reliable. Two days later, the opening ceremony. By then, all the important figures of the Demon Realm will be present.”

In the corner, a mage in a gray robe added in a sinister tone, “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The main forces of the demons will all be gathered at the arena, so their defenses will definitely be weak. And… right in front of the entire Demon Realm, if that new venue were to explode, or if that high-and-mighty Demon Queen were to make a fool of herself…”

The group exchanged glances, each seeing the same malicious grin in the others’ eyes.

“We are the vanguard squad of the Holy Church’s Holy Knight Order.” The scout straightened his back, though it looked somewhat ridiculous in the gloomy cave. “Although the commander is still on the way, how could we possibly miss such a chance to claim the first merit?”

“That’s right! Let those demon brats see—justice may be late, but it will never be absent!”

“I’ve already prepared high-explosive alchemical agents.” The mage pulled out several rune-engraved metal bottles from his robe and shook them proudly. “As long as we throw them out at the climax of the opening ceremony… heh, just imagining the scene is exhilarating.”

“For the glory of the Church!”

“For the Holy Light!”

Several hands stacked together, completing a self-moved oath-taking ceremony in this filthy hole.

They had no idea what kind of hell-difficulty instance they were about to face.

……

Palace of Eternal Night.

“Ah-choo—!”

Lilia rubbed her nose, looking around suspiciously.

She hadn’t expected to be dragged out again before she’d even had much rest.

“Who’s talking behind my back?”

She muttered, but this minor interruption was quickly washed away by the sense of danger before her.

At this moment, she was holding that two-meter-long crimson fork.

Naturally, she was wearing the maid outfit transformed from the “Skin of the Sea God.”

Black and white color scheme, lace trimming, and a skirt so short it was heart-stopping—just lifting her leg slightly let her feel the cool breeze brushing against her skin.

“Master… can we discuss something?”

Lilia held the fork with both hands, trying to soften the mood with the most humble smile she could muster toward the woman floating in midair before her.

“This kind of special training… isn’t it a bit too much? Look, with my thin arms and legs, if I accidentally damage this Divine Artifact, that’d be pretty embarrassing, right?”

Today, Hera wore a neat black combat outfit, her long hair tied into a high ponytail. She had shed some of her usual queenly laziness, replaced with sharp killing intent.

She looked down at Lilia from above, her golden eyes devoid of warmth, carrying only the gaze of someone observing a lab rat.

The corner of Hera’s lips curled into a faint, ambiguous smile. “Even if you dismantle your entire body, that fork won’t lose a single chip. It’s not as fragile as you think.”

“But…” Lilia tried to struggle.

“No ‘but.’”

Hera raised her hand, and a purple-black Magic Sphere condensed at her fingertips. Crackling arcs of electricity danced through the air, making an ear-grating sound.

“The opening ceremony is in two days. You’ll be standing beside me then.”

“So, do you want to sweat a little now, or embarrass yourself later?”

With a flick of her wrist, the Magic Sphere transformed into dozens of pitch-black arrows, hovering above Lilia’s head.

“Choose.”

Lilia looked at the sky full of black arrows and swallowed hard.

What kind of choice is that?!

“Fine! I’ll train, alright?!” Lilia raised the large fork in grief and indignation, striking a pose she thought looked cool but actually resembled surrendering with a white flag.

“That’s more like it.”

Hera snapped her fingers.

Whoosh whoosh whoosh—!

Dozens of black arrows poured down like a torrential rain, showing no intention of holding back.

“Damn it! You’re serious?!”

Lilia let out a strange cry, her body reacting instinctively.

The Skin of the Sea God instantly hardened, forming a semi-transparent blue membrane over her body.

Clang clang clang—!

The black arrows struck the membrane, producing a series of crisp impacts. The immense force numbed Lilia’s arms, pushing her backward several meters, her boots scraping sparks across the obsidian floor.

“Don’t just stand there and take hits.”

Hera’s cold voice rang beside her. “Attack.”

“I want to! But this fork won’t listen to me!”

Lilia felt the red fork in her hands acting stubborn, unbearably heavy, as if filled with lead.

“Then use your will to subdue it.”

Hera ignored her explanation. With a light tap of her finger, several even more powerful wind blades howled toward Lilia, aiming straight for her face.

Is this woman seriously trying to kill me?!

At the brink of life and death, the ruthlessness within Lilia was forced out.

“You’ve got some nerve, huh?!”

Lilia let out a low roar, gripping the fork handle tightly with both hands, channeling the seed within her that fused the power of life and death.

A stream of silver-gray energy surged along her arms into the fork.

Buzz—!

The red fork, which had been playing dead, let out a hum, as if its tail had been stepped on. It instantly blazed with red light.

It sensed Lilia’s intense will to “live,” that violent urge to pierce through all obstacles.

That suited its taste perfectly.

“Break… for me!”

Lilia twisted her waist, swinging her arms in a full arc, wielding the two-meter-long fork like a staff and sweeping it out fiercely.

A crimson crescent-shaped blade shot out, carrying scorching heat waves as it collided head-on with the incoming wind blades.

Boom—!

The explosion’s shockwave sent Lilia’s long hair flying wildly.

A deep trench was carved into the training ground’s floor.

Lilia stood there, panting heavily, looking at the fork in her hands that had finally begun to cooperate. An indescribable sense of exhilaration surged in her heart.

So this is the power of a Divine Artifact?

It actually… feels pretty awesome?

Before she could revel in it for even two seconds, Hera’s voice, tinged with amusement, came from above.

“The power is acceptable. Your aim is terrible.”

Lilia looked up to see Hera still floating in midair, completely unharmed—not even a corner of her clothes disturbed.

“Again.”

Hera raised her hand, the magical fluctuations this time more than twice as strong as before.

Lilia: “……”

This life is unlivable!

Can’t I just fast-forward straight to retirement?!

“Focus.”

As if seeing through her thoughts, Hera’s voice carried a hint of danger. “If you can’t even endure this much hardship, I wouldn’t mind tying you to one of the pillars in that newly built arena and using you as a target for that black dragon.”

“No no no! I love special training! Special training makes me happy!”

Tears welling in her eyes, Lilia raised the fork once more.
