Chapter 546: Saving People

Nina Jacobs wanted to win an opportunity for Stella to increase its reputation at the base. After all, she understood all too well the importance of a good name there.

However, she never expected the person they pulled up to be Caleb Carter, who had been missing for days, nor did she expect Fern Spencer to be there as well. Aside from Caleb, the other four were already stiff, their survival uncertain.

"Without enough strength, they actually dared to venture out at a time like this. They deserve to die." A slightly mocking voice came from the side of the road. It was Ianna Jacobs and her group.

"What did you say? Say that again!" Hearing this, Caleb immediately glared and charged forward.

"What are you doing!" Ianna hurriedly used her Water Ability to put out the fire, only to find that her Water Element Superpower couldn’t extinguish Nina’s Superpower Fire.

"He’s the person I saved," Nina said coldly, pointing at Caleb on the ground.

She and Caleb had only exchanged greetings during the Superpower User tournament; they weren’t well acquainted. But Caleb and Fern had helped her out a lot when Claire Warner opened the commissary. Even though the two never claimed credit, Nina had always known.

"Nina! Put out this damn fire right now!" Ianna looked genuinely anxious.

However, Nina merely turned around and asked Holden Shaw, who was standing nearby, to help Caleb up from the ground. "Next time you can’t keep your hands to yourself, I wouldn’t mind helping you clean house."

Clean house... Ianna glared at her, but Nina didn’t even spare her a glance.

By now, the Superpower Fire on the Wind Element Superpower User, Timo Stone, had died down. It wasn’t because Nina showed mercy, but because his clothes had been burned completely to ashes. Having experienced the extremes of burning heat and freezing cold in this weather, Timo directly passed out.

Caleb reached out and grabbed Nina’s sleeve. "Please, save them. Save Fern."

Nina had never seen Caleb like this before. She didn’t know what he had been through, but she still nodded. "We’ll do our best."

Fern and the others had already been carried into the vehicle. Wayne Abbott folded all the seats to the sides. The warmth inside the car caused beads of water to seep out on their bodies. Elara Dolan hurriedly brought over ginger tea, but Nina stopped her.

"First, separate the men from the women and take off their frozen clothes. Be careful not to tear them forcefully; try to cut them open. Perform CPR immediately on anyone without a pulse or breathing. Do not feed water to those unconscious from frostbite; it’s easy for them to choke and suffocate."

"Got it!" Elara quickly set down the ginger tea. She had almost done more harm than good despite her good intentions.

"If only Paisley Paige were here," Leo Hale said.

"Never mind that, let’s just do as the captain says for now." Wayne, Warren Ramsey, and the others immediately began their rescue efforts according to Nina’s instructions.

Nina noticed that Caleb was constantly shivering, so she had Yvonne Willow take out a change of clothes and some ginger tea to hand to him.

"Fern looks like she’s still breathing. She should be fine," Nina said.

Hearing this, Caleb’s face burst with a look of pleasant surprise before he finally accepted the clothes and the ginger tea.

"You know Fern?" Caleb asked. He had just realized the person standing before him was Stella’s Nina Jacobs. And Nina spoke of Fern Spencer as if she were an old friend.

"The Fern Squad. Everyone knows a bit about them," Nina replied calmly.

Caleb didn’t overthink it. "If Fern can wake up, I’ll do anything."

Looking at Caleb’s thin clothing, Nina didn’t say anything more. It was obvious he had taken off almost all his winter wear to give to Fern and the others.

Just then, behind the partition curtain in the back, Yvonne cried out in pleasant surprise, "She’s breathing!"

Nina’s eyes lit up, and she walked in. Fern was still unconscious, and Yvonne was still performing CPR on her. From the faint rise and fall of her chest, it was evident that she wasn’t dead. Nina finally felt relieved. As long as Fern still had a breath left in her, Nina could save her.

Of the other three, one had completely lost his breath. Although the other two were still breathing, their breaths were extremely faint, and they could go into cardiac arrest at any moment.

"We’re still quite a distance from the base. Rushing back now will take at least an hour." Wayne was also anxious. They had expended a great deal of effort just to pull these people up. Moreover, these people were long-missing survivors from the base.

Nina didn’t answer. Injecting adrenaline was indeed a first-aid method, but in her past life, she had seen far too many cases where the patient died immediately after the injection.

"Looks like the Stellarys Team isn’t very united, letting their captain come alone," the man with the long ponytail from earlier said with a smile.

"Didn’t you want a lesson? I alone am enough." Nina didn’t leave them any chance to react. Several sharp Stone Spikes were already hurtling toward everyone behind Ianna!

In her past life, she should have acted like this. Ianna had thwarted her at every turn, even repeatedly setting traps to injure her and block her path while she was out. Seeing her again, Nina no longer wanted to hold back.

"So you’re someone who loves to talk big. It’s not good to be too overconfident. Let us teach you a lesson first!"

Water Element Superpower surged through the air, sweeping toward those Stone Spikes. The Stone Spikes were engulfed as the water waves instantly turned to ice, firmly locking them within.

"Attack together!" Ianna smiled confidently. The ten people behind her fanned out, intending to seal off all of Nina’s escape routes. Two Strength Element Superpower Users coordinated from the left and right. The frozen earth cracked beneath their feet as their fists, wrapped in powerful winds, smashed straight toward her!
