Chapter 384: Chapter 380: The Moon Is Beautiful Tonight
"This first drink is to our boss and the boss’s wife! Thank you both so much for taking care of Si Si and me all this time! We’re truly grateful!"
In a private room at a Chinese restaurant, Cui Jiaying stood up, raising her glass with a brilliant smile on her face.
Jiang Xia chuckled. "If you two ever get tired of being content creators, there’s always a place for you back at Dili Dili. I’d be more than happy to have you come back and work for me."
Lin Yanwan rolled her eyes at him. "How can you say that? Si Si and Jiaying just quit, and you’re already trying to dash their hopes."
"I’m just using a little reverse psychology. If you don’t want to come back to work for me, then you’d better give it your all and become successful content creators."
Si Si smiled gently. "President Jiang, you own D Station, and we’re D Station content creators. So even though we’re not working directly for you anymore, aren’t we still kind of working for you in a way?"
"I guess... you have a point there."
Everyone burst out laughing.
"This second drink is to our friendship! Even though Si Si and I have quit, and we might not see each other as often, we’ll never grow apart. Yanwan, you’ll always be our sister!"
Cui Jiaying refilled her glass with sake, then tilted her head back and downed it all in one go.
"Okay, okay. Who says we’ll see each other less? If you post lots of videos, I’ll be able to see you all the time, right? And if you need anything in the future, just come to me. Don’t you dare hesitate."
Lin Yanwan smiled faintly and drank along with them, though her glass was filled with juice. Jiang Xia wouldn’t let her drink alcohol. ’If soda can kill sperm, won’t alcohol be even worse?’
And since Jiang Xia was driving, he couldn’t drink either.
"In that case," Jiang Xia said lightly, "since you two are basically my wife’s family, shouldn’t I offer a little something to support your new venture? For example, a guaranteed spot on the trending page once a month?"
"Whoa! Boss, you said it yourself! Everyone heard you, so don’t even think about taking it back!" Cui Jiaying was so excited her face flushed.
A spot on the trending page meant their videos would be seen by a much larger audience, allowing them to build an initial fanbase much more quickly. For new content creators, this was the best support they could ask for.
"Hahaha, the recommendation just gives you an opportunity. Whether the video actually takes off still comes down to quality. It’s like I always say: if your content is good enough, the fans will come to you, and you’ll be on the trending page every day."
"Yes, yes! Don’t worry, Boss!"
"This third drink is to our youth! I hope all of us will find more and more success in our own fields. I don’t even need to mention our boss and his wife—they’ve already reached the pinnacle of life. Qiuting and Su Qing, I want to see you two holding your own as soon as possible!" Cui Jiaying pumped her fist.
Su Qing smiled gently. "Thank you for the good wishes. In that case, I’ll set a small goal for myself, too. I hope to become a qualified episode director before I graduate from college."
As he spoke, he looked toward Jiang Xia. Now that Wang Ming had taken over the *Cat and Mouse* project, Su Qing had been transferred to the *Slam Dunk* animation team and had just recently been promoted from second key animator to first key animator.
"You’ll have your chance," Jiang Xia replied with a smile, keeping his words noncommittal for now.
Su Qing’s qualifications weren’t there yet, and he was still sorely lacking experience on large-scale animation projects. After he worked as a first key animator for a year or so, they could consider letting him try his hand at being an episode director. An episode director was, as the name implied, the director for a single episode. After gaining a few years of experience in that role, he could then aim to become a full-fledged director.
As for Qiuting, she didn’t have any particular artistic or musical talent, but she was incredibly determined and perseverant. Once she committed to a task, she would pour all her effort into doing it well.
’With that kind of attitude, plus the fact that she’s under my wing, she’ll have a good future.’
The group had a wonderful time over dinner.
Both Si Si and Cui Jiaying were a little drunk, their eyes glassy and their faces flushed red.
Qiuting and Su Qing had also been plied with quite a bit of alcohol. With only six people there, and Jiang Xia and Lin Yanwan not drinking, it was just the four of them trading toasts all night.
Si Si tipsily made her way to the front desk to pay the bill. She had saved up a decent amount of money after working at D Station for a semester.
"You watch them for a second. I’m going to get the car," Jiang Xia said.
Lin Yanwan nodded slightly. She looked back at the drunken bunch, her temples starting to throb. ’If memory served, they never managed to stay sober whenever they went out drinking.’
’And every single time, she was the one left playing mother hen and cleaning up the mess.’
A little while later, Jiang Xia’s recently purchased Lavida pulled up to the restaurant entrance. The two of them helped the others into the back seat before getting in themselves.
Worried one of them might throw up in the car, Jiang Xia drove slowly the whole way. He rolled down the windows, and the cool summer night air hitting their faces helped the drunken passengers sober up a little.
"Nanny Su, are you heading home or back to the dorms?" Jiang Xia asked casually.
Su Qing turned to look at Qiuting’s delicate face. "Back to the dorms."
"Got it."
About ten minutes later, the car reached the northeast gate of the campus, near Bauhinia Apartment. At this hour, the school no longer allowed vehicles to come and go freely, so they had to get out at the gate.
Fortunately, they weren’t far from the dormitory building. It was only about a ten-minute walk, which would give them more time to sober up.
"Nanny Su, keep an eye on them. Yanwan and I are going to head back now," Jiang Xia said.
"Okay."
"Remember to be at work on time tomorrow. No being late," he said with a smile. "But if you really can’t get up, you can take the day off."
Su Qing raised an eyebrow slightly. "When have I ever been late?"
’He was far too self-disciplined for a little drunkenness to be a problem.’
"Right, I believe you. Alright, you get them inside. Shoot me a text when you’re back at the dorm."
