After the Divorce, My Wife and I Were Both Reborn
Chapter 424 - 416: Reunion
Chapter 424: Chapter 416: Reunion
"Brother-in-law, Brother-in-law, I’m here~~~"
Xiao Man came down the escalator and flew into Jiang Xia’s arms. Lin Yanwan watched from the side, rather helplessly. ’Does this little rascal only have eyes for her brother-in-law?’
"Welcome to the Imperial Capital, Xiao Man." Jiang Xia smiled and patted his little sister-in-law’s head.
"Mhm~" Xiao Man nuzzled in Jiang Xia’s embrace before running over to hug Lin Yanwan. "Sis, Xiao Man missed you to death."
"Hmph, hmph, hmph. You little stinker, Xiao Man. You finally remembered your sister, huh?"
"Hehehe, I was thinking about you the whole time."
The two sisters chatted quietly as Jiang Xia’s parents and mother-in-law came over. He smiled and called out, "Dad, Mom," then went to take the suitcase from Jiang Wende’s hand.
"Should we eat first, then go home?" Jiang Xia asked.
Jiang Wende nodded casually. "Either is fine. Now that we’re in the Imperial Capital, we’ll follow your lead."
So, Jiang Xia and Lin Yanwan led the way, holding Xiao Man’s hands on either side. The three adults followed close behind. The whole way, Xiao Man’s big, curious eyes were wide, and she kept gasping in amazement.
As expected of the Capital, both the foot traffic and the size of the airport were much greater than Jiangbei Airport’s.
Soon, the group arrived at the underground parking garage. Lin Yanwan took the front passenger seat, and the three adults sat in the back with Xiao Man on one of their laps. It was a perfect fit. If her father had come along too, they definitely wouldn’t have all fit.
"You’re a big boss now, and you’re still driving a car like this? Aren’t you afraid people will laugh at you?" Jiang Wende glanced at the Lavida. The car was probably only worth around a hundred thousand yuan. It really didn’t match Jiang Xia’s current status.
Jiang Xia chuckled. "I don’t feel like changing it for now. This car drives just fine."
"Mm, that’s a good mindset. I was just worried you’d let the money get to your head." A slow smile finally appeared on Jiang Wende’s face.
The truth was, Jiang Xia had acquired a level of wealth at his age that most people couldn’t imagine. Many would let it go to their heads, thinking they were God’s gift to the world, and that’s when things could easily go wrong.
Jiang Xia just smiled silently. Having lived two lives, been reborn from such a terrible situation in his previous one, and now having made up for all his past regrets, it was safe to say that there was very little that could shake his composure.
"How far is your company from the airport?"
"Not far, about a half-hour drive."
"That’s not bad."
Jiang Wende looked out the window. The Capital’s development was indeed far ahead of the inland regions.
"Xiaxia, have you been busy lately?" Ji Wanqiu asked.
"Moderately busy. Now that it’s summer break, I have plenty of time to focus my energy on work," Jiang Xia said with a smile.
"By the way, Mom, the ratings for Four-wheel Brothers are excellent right now. How are the sales for the four-wheel drive race cars at the factory?"
"That ’Gao Yuan Double Diamond, my partner’ ad of yours worked too well. The four-wheel drive cars are selling like hotcakes, especially the Charging War God and the Sound Speed War God. The standard version wholesales for 10 yuan each, and the personal assembly kit is priced at 20 yuan each, but we still can’t keep up with demand."
Ji Wanqiu chuckled. "That’s why your father couldn’t come with us to the Imperial Capital. He has to stay at the company and rake in the cash."
"Mom, have Dad pay a little more attention to the materials used for the cars."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, don’t make the quality too good. Make sure that after a few crashes, the front guide rollers on the chassis break. That’s how you get the people who love Four-wheel Brothers to keep buying more," Jiang Xia said seriously. "In short, the cars need to be fast, but they also need to break fast."
Even after so many years, Jiang Xia still remembered the saying, "Auldey Double Diamond, breaks with one touch." His childhood treasure chest was filled with all sorts of four-wheel drive race car parts. He’d gone through dozens of them but could never find a single intact chassis.
Ji Wanqiu was stunned for a moment, then she couldn’t help but laugh. She suddenly realized her son-in-law was quite the scoundrel. He seemed even better suited for business than they were.
"Alright, I’ll talk to your father about this later."
Jiang Wende and Xia Shanshan, on the other hand, looked at each other, speechless. Logically, they knew this was wrong, but in business, how else were you supposed to make money?
’No merchant is not a crook, after all.’ They really weren’t cut out to be businesspeople.
They drove until they stopped at a large hotel near the company. Li Weiya had already booked a banquet and was waiting by the roadside for their arrival.
"Teacher Xia, President Ji, I’ve been so looking forward to your arrival." She approached them with a broad smile, taking the initiative to welcome them.
"Weiya, long time no see," Xia Shanshan said with a smile.
Ji Wanqiu smiled and shook her hand. "Director Li, we’ll have to trouble you again during our visit to the Imperial Capital."
"Haha, you’re too kind, President Ji."
The group exchanged a few pleasantries at the hotel entrance before following Li Weiya into a private dining room.
Xia Shanshan glanced at Shen Ying, who was standing next to Wang Ming. The last time she’d seen her was during the New Year two years ago. Back then, Jiang Xia and Yanwan had just returned home, and it was a welcome-back party thrown by their classmates.
This time, however, was clearly a family dinner. With Li Weiya bringing Shen Ying along, and seeing how close she seemed with Wang Ming, a suspicion began to form in Xia Shanshan’s mind.
She quickly walked over to Li Weiya’s side and whispered, "A daughter-in-law?"
Li Weiya glanced at Shen Ying out of the corner of her eye and said in a low voice, "More or less. They’re dating right now. As for whether it will work out, that depends on fate."
"They’re a good match," Xia Shanshan said with a cheerful laugh.
Wang Ming was Jiang Xia’s childhood friend, and Shen Ying was Lin Yanwan’s best friend. It really wasn’t surprising that the two of them ended up together.
The private room was very large, furnished with a carpet, a chandelier, a screen, and decorative scrolls. In the center was a large round table that could seat more than a dozen people. It was clear this banquet must have cost several thousand yuan at least.
