Chapter 569: Chapter 330: Farewell and Moving Forward (Part 2)

Yuna’s role was to find the problems and discover the approaches, while Lu Cang’s was to decrypt them and find the answers...

It was just that his growth was too fast.

Lu Cang’s rate of growth meant he was bound to learn more than Yuna, to possess knowledge that surpassed hers.

Before he knew it, he no longer needed to discuss things with Yuna.

Suddenly, a sense of loneliness washed over Lu Cang.

His thoughts turned to Xu Zhou, Jie Zhu, Dusk, and the others.

’It seems my path is destined to be a lonely one.’

’It’s hard for others to stay by my side because they can’t keep up with my pace. And that means danger.’

’The stronger I become, the more dangerous the situations I’ll face.’

Lu Cang couldn’t bring people who couldn’t help him along. Not only would they slow him down, but it would also put them in grave danger.

’In the end, everyone by my side will leave...’

The feeling of loneliness welled up inside him.

’I have no home to return to, and I can’t even keep friends by my side.’

Lu Cang looked up. "Yuna."

Yuna stopped walking. "Yes?"

"Take these."

Lu Cang handed her a Storage Bag.

Yuna asked, "What’s this?"

Lu Cang answered, "Some items that can save your life. I have no use for them, but you might."

"There are also some valuable materials. If you ever come across something you really want that money can’t buy, you can try trading for it with these."

"But remember not to flaunt your wealth. Don’t let people know you have precious items."

"You’re not a fighter, so you have to be extremely careful."

"Aside from that, there are also some Magic Books and Combat Skills, as well as my own insights on Magic... If you ever decide to take on a Battle Profession, they might be helpful to you."

"I think it’s always safer to have a Battle Profession when you’re traveling."

"Of course, it’s up to you."

Pfft—

Covering her mouth, Yuna laughed. "Lu Cang, you’re really so contrary."

"You always act like it’s a huge bother, but you can’t bring yourself to ignore them, and in the end, you always help people who are in trouble."

"Then you’ll grumble about how much you didn’t want to help, and how it’s none of your business whether those people live or die."

"The reason Kumironi was able to accept you as a Death Priest must be because he saw the kindness in your heart."

’Kindness?’

’I don’t think of myself as a kind person... I’ve done plenty of immoral things, plenty of illegal things.’

"Lu Cang, I’ll accept these."

"I will... be waiting for you in the future."

Yuna broke into a happy smile.

Lu Cang smiled back. "Alright. Once I’ve become truly powerful, maybe I’ll visit you at the Tower of the Sages first."

"Then I’ll be looking forward to it." Yuna clasped her hands behind her back and turned away from Lu Cang.

"Let’s leave it at that~ I want to save the anticipation for the future—for the day we meet again."

Yuna calmly pushed the door open.

The woman outside was slightly surprised.

"Finished talking so quickly?"

"It seems you’ve truly resolved your lingering worries..."

"That’s good. Someone with determination has a better chance of becoming a Wise One. I have high hopes for you, little one." The woman patted Yuna’s head.

The two of them walked away.

Lu Cang watched their retreating figures.

He let out a long sigh.

’That woman isn’t a bad person.’

The feedback he’d gotten from touching her hadn’t raised any red flags.

WHOOSH—

In another flash, Lu Cang teleported back to their residence.

Leng Qingying was hanging upside down from the ceiling chandelier.

"I thought you weren’t going to see Yuna."

Lu Cang sighed. "Do I seem that heartless to you?"

"You act more like an Assassin than I do. I thought you were truly emotionless," Leng Qingying said while still hanging upside down. Though she was only ten, her figure was already becoming shapely and defined.

’So many kids around me.’

’Though I suppose I’m a kid myself.’

Lu Cang extended his Perception toward Lu Luwei. She was currently gazing into the distance, practicing her Perception Enhancement Technique.

"How much longer are we staying here?"

Lu Cang answered, "A couple more days. We’ll leave once I reach Level 2 Blacksmith."

Lu Cang’s tone shifted. "You’ve been killing people these last few days, haven’t you?"

Leng Qingying was blunt. "Yes."

"Who have you been killing?"

Leng Qingying answered, "Cultists."

"Lu Luwei found a trail leading to the Rose of Shedding Skin, so I went and killed them."

When Leng Qingying had killed Luo Yan, she had taken advantage of her opponent’s vulnerability.

Her opponent had been in a chaotic state, transforming between Demon and human, and Leng Qingying had seized upon a moment of weakness to kill her instantly.

In a direct confrontation, Leng Qingying would likely have been no match for Luo Yan.

After all, Luo Yan was powerful enough to fight Yelieya. She was a Level 6 Reincarnator, a full two Levels higher than Leng Qingying.

"You must be close to meeting the advancement requirements for a Level 5 Assassin by now, right?"

Leng Qingying had indeed killed a great number of people recently. Many of them were well-known experts, and she often killed those at a higher level than her. Plus, after spending so much time with Lu Cang, she had gained a much deeper understanding of Assassination Techniques.

"Yes, I feel like I can advance now."

Lu Cang said, "In that case, I might as well help you with your advancement."

His original reason for bringing Yuna and Leng Qingying along was his promise to Kumironi to look after them.

Lu Cang considered himself someone who repays his debts, and he would do his utmost to keep a promise made to Kumironi.

As long as Leng Qingying didn’t cause him trouble, Lu Cang didn’t mind bringing her along.

’But... if I run into danger in the future, whether she can protect herself is another question entirely.’

"Alright."

CLANG—

The word had barely left her lips when Lu Cang caught the incoming Dagger between two fingers.
