Chapter 849: Chapter 849: Unlucky Twin Sister (78)
Linn Huai: "They’re at a dead end, they deserve it."
Every time Ma Yuman came to him to order clothes, she would mention things about the Zhu Family, the affair with Zhu Menghui harming Qiann Yan, which he knew clearly. Now, for them to end up like this, isn’t it deserved?
"Try this stir-fried hollow cabbage."
Qiann Yan didn’t hold back, picked up a piece of hollow cabbage, put it in her mouth, and paired it with the warm porridge in her bowl. Breakfast was quite delightful.
For a moment, both of them ate in silence, saying no more words.
After finishing the meal, Linn Huai spoke first: "Tomorrow is your birthday."
"Are you going to give me a gift?"
Linn Huai: "..." Always asking so directly, it ruined the surprise he intended.
Linn Huai still nodded honestly, stood up, turned back to his room, and shortly returned with a box, beautifully wrapped, and pushed it in front of Qiann Yan: "Take a look, I’ve been preparing for a long time, hope you like it."
Her birthday party would have many people, and by then, many would be giving gifts.
Even if he could ensure this gift stood out among the many, he still wished to give it to her alone. He didn’t want it to be seen by others.
Qiann Yan reached out and opened the box, her swift action causing Linn Huai’s eye to twitch, making him forget for a moment what the usual reaction to receiving a gift would be.
She’s always like this, receiving a gift and immediately opening it, nothing abnormal.
Opening the box revealed a beautifully crafted booklet. She paused, having some guesses—could it be what Linn Huai had drawn recently? Was he gifting her a bunch of limited-edition clothes, allowing her to pick what she wanted to wear?
It would be quite a good gift; she probably wouldn’t need to buy clothes in this lifetime.
This person seems somewhat useful.
Such meticulous plans, solely for recommending himself as a companion—wasn’t that a bit of a waste of talent? If he’s not really trying to woo her, being able to stay by her side isn’t bad either. At least so far, she doesn’t find him annoying.
Linn Huai noticed Qiann Yan’s admiring gaze, feeling a bit nervous.
Qiann Yan took out the slightly thick booklet. The hardcover was intricately designed. She realized only upon holding it that the artwork on its cover had Linn Huai’s style.
"You drew it?"
"Yes."
"Your drawing has improved, it has a lot of spiritual energy."
Even though he’s been praised numerous times, Linn Huai couldn’t help but smile.
"There are words too." Qiann Yan noticed, spotting three characters hidden within the fairyland-like artwork, she slowly read them aloud: "Hundred-Faced Map."
Hundred-Faced Map?
Qiann Yan opened the booklet directly, turning to the first page. The scene was very familiar to her, the person depicted was also well-known—herself.
Linn Huai: "This was the first time we met, you stood in the dark part of the alley, at that time I thought you were scared stiff. Reflecting carefully, I realized your face was calm, practically the gaze of a king, how could you be scared stiff, I was ignorant."
"Very realistic," Qiann Yan commented.
She turned to the second page, which was a scene of her beating up a thug. It must be admitted that Linn Huai’s drawing skills were superb: "Nicely drawn."
Continuing to flip through, a hundred illustrations in total; no wonder it’s called the Hundred-Faced Map.
Qiann Yan closed the booklet, and put the lid back on the box: "This gift is very special, I like it a lot."
Linn Huai breathed a sigh of relief. Although she didn’t express extreme joy, her words signified genuine liking.
