Alpha's Regret: The Seventh Time was Forever

Chapter 439 - 440 - Delicious torture

Chapter 439: Chapter 440 - Delicious torture

’Marsha, I’m not even pregnant yet,’ Seraphine argued inside her head, desperately trying to keep her cool even after everything that had gone down.

But her wolf was practically bouncing with excitement, way more hyped up than before. ’Your fancy medical knowledge doesn’t mean squat when it comes to what you’re carrying now. This is the most amazing thing ever!’

The sheer joy pouring out of Marsha’s voice was impossible to ignore, hitting Seraphine like a wave of pure sunshine mixed with a little bit of crazy.

Voren studied her face super closely, catching every tiny change in her expression. His eyebrows shot up in curiosity. "Is Marsha telling you something right now?"

Seraphine met his gaze and gave a little nod, letting out a soft sigh. "She’s losing it as usual. Now she’s dead set on the idea that I’m pregnant."

"My dad says the exact same thing, baby."

Voren’s voice came out calm and serious, without any of Marsha’s bubbly energy, which somehow made the whole thing feel a thousand times heavier and more real.

Seraphine had been fighting hard to push the whole pregnancy idea away, convincing herself there had to be some other explanation for everything she was feeling.

But hearing that Vladimir had come to the same conclusion made it almost impossible to keep brushing it off. Her stomach twisted with a mix of nerves and something she couldn’t quite name.

"But..."

Before she could even finish, Voren gently cupped her face in his warm hands, his touch so tender it made her heart squeeze. "No buts, baby. Carrying a black gifted wolf is on a whole different level. Those gifts don’t get passed down normally, so our pup would be the very first one to get it straight through blood. I really think the Moon Goddess is straight-up blessing us with this."

His eyes filled with such deep, glowing warmth as he pulled her into his strong arms, pressing his lips softly against the top of her head and holding her like he never wanted to let go. The comfort of his embrace wrapped around her like a protective blanket.

"If this pup was just a regular Alpha wolf, your pregnancy probably would’ve felt a lot like it did with Espe."

Seraphine shook her head slowly, feeling the weight of exhaustion pressing down on her. "No. Every single pregnancy is different in its own wild way." She rubbed her forehead, looking totally drained. "But honestly, sleeping this much is starting to freak me out big time."

Another huge yawn slipped out before she could stop it, and her eyelids already felt like they weighed a ton, begging her to drift off again. "I swear I could crawl right back into bed and sleep for days."

Seeing her looking so wiped out twisted something tight and painful in Voren’s chest. Worry flooded through him, deep and sharp, but he refused to let even a hint of that fear show on his face.

Right now, Seraphine needed him to be her rock, strong and steady no matter what.

"I think we’ve gotta brace ourselves for stuff we’ve never seen before," he said, his thumb gently stroking across her hand in soothing circles. "This isn’t something science or other people’s stories can even begin to explain. But we’ll tackle every single symptom as it comes, one at a time. No matter what happens, we’re facing it together, you and me."

He forced a reassuring smile, even though his heart was pounding with concern. "I’m gonna grab you something to eat right now."

Just then, a knock echoed through the bedroom door. Before they could even answer, Corvine’s voice called out from the hallway. "Voren, Nicole and Callum are here. They just got back from their run."

Voren glanced at the door while he adjusted the room temperature to make sure Seraphine was perfectly comfortable. "It’s all good, Corvine. We’ve already figured things out."

The second Seraphine heard Callum’s name, an idea sparked in her mind. "Let them come in."

A few seconds later, Corvine stepped inside with Nicole and Callum right behind him. Seraphine didn’t waste any time getting straight to it.

"I never actually asked why you left the pack."

Callum let out a long, heavy breath, his eyes going distant as painful old memories came rushing back. "I just couldn’t keep working for such a complete idiot of an Alpha anymore."

Frustration burned across his face. "I laid out the whole truth for him. I told him exactly how Daisy ordered me to drain her blood after you stabbed her, all so she could force you to give her yours." His jaw clenched hard. "But he still wouldn’t believe a single word I said."

Seraphine blinked in genuine surprise. That was the first time she’d heard the full story, and suddenly everything clicked into place like a missing puzzle piece. "So that’s really what went down."

She leaned back against the pillows, a slow, cold smile spreading across her face.

"Make sure you’re there for their coronation. When Ravyn finally gets slammed with the truth, I want you right there to rub in just how blind he’s been this whole time."

Her eyes drifted to Nicole. "You should be there too."

Nicole’s lips curled into a confident, almost wicked smile. "Don’t you worry about a thing, Sera."

Her gaze turned rock-solid and determined. "When it’s my turn to speak up, I’m not holding anything back. Alpha Ravyn is finally gonna realize the truth was staring him right in the face the entire time." A flicker of disappointment crossed her face. "He just refused to open his eyes and see it."

The room grew quiet after that, the weight of everything hanging in the air. Once the conversation wrapped up, Corvine, Nicole, and Callum excused themselves quietly, leaving the couple alone again. The door clicked shut softly behind them.

Voren turned to Seraphine with a thoughtful expression. "Baby..." His eyes narrowed just a bit. "Your style is all about that slow, delicious torture." The corner of his mouth lifted into a faint grin. "Why don’t we handle things my way for once?"
