Chapter 440: Chapter 441 - They don’t deserve anything quick and easy
Curiosity sparkled bright in Seraphine’s eyes as she stared straight into his, completely captivated. "And what exactly is your way of handling stuff like this?" she asked, a faint little smile tugging at the corners of her lips.
The Voren sitting beside her now felt so different from the boy she’d known growing up.
Back then he’d been this quiet, protective, and playful with her. But after she lost her memories and became Luna of the Centenary Pack, she started hearing all kinds of wild stories about him.
Warriors spoke his name with deep respect, while his enemies whispered it with pure fear. Every rumor painted him as this ruthless Alpha who showed zero mercy to anyone who dared stand against him.
Even with all that, the Voren she’d fallen in love with all over again had almost never shown her that darker side. With her, he was always so patient, so incredibly gentle and affectionate.
He spoiled her rotten, protected her fiercely, and treated her like she was the most precious, irreplaceable treasure in his entire world. Sometimes it was honestly hard to believe those scary stories were even about the same man.
Voren met her curious gaze head-on, and this time there wasn’t even a trace of humor in his expression.
His face hardened with serious intensity, and his voice dropped into something calm, cold, and utterly chilling.
"I capture every single enemy of yours," he said, his eyes darkening with that deep, unshakable resolve. "Then I erase them completely, wipe them out in a way where no one will ever find a single trace of what happened."
There was zero hesitation in his words. No emotion, no doubt, just pure, rock-solid certainty that sent a little shiver down her spine.
Seraphine studied his face for a long moment, letting his words sink in. This wasn’t some dramatic threat meant to impress her or sound tough.
It was simply how he operated when it came to anyone who dared endanger the people he loved.
In that moment, it hit her hard. The rumors hadn’t been exaggerated at all. They were completely true. Voren really did prefer making his enemies vanish without a trace, like they’d never existed in the first place.
She snuggled closer to him, a small, thoughtful smile playing across her face. His method was undeniably cruel and terrifying, but honestly, to her it felt a little boring. "Where’s the fun in that?" she teased, sticking out her bottom lip in a playful pout.
"They’d be gone before they even realized what they’d lost. No real satisfaction, no watching them suffer and understand the full weight of crossing us."
She pulled away and folded her arms across her chest, refusing to back down. "I’ve suffered for so freaking long because of them."
Pain flashed across her face for a moment before it hardened into pure, burning determination. "They don’t deserve anything quick and easy. I want to watch everything they love crumble right in front of their eyes."
A cruel, satisfied gleam filled her gaze. "I want them to feel completely and utterly helpless, like there’s nothing left they can do. I want them to lose everything... including Bryan."
Voren stared at her for a long moment before a slow, impressed smirk spread across his face.
"People always think I’m the most ruthless leader." Amusement sparkled in his eyes. "But damn, now I know the real truth." His grin widened. "You’re even more ruthless than I could ever be."
Seraphine didn’t bother arguing. She knew exactly who she was deep down. She could be gentle and caring enough to heal the deepest, most broken wounds in someone’s soul.
But she could also turn into the absolute nightmare who destroyed everything they held dear. It all came down to which side people chose to stand on with her.
Voren stood up and gave her shoulder a light, affectionate squeeze. "I’ll go get your food." His expression slowly darkened with purpose. "And I need to make a call."
He grabbed his phone and dialed the number without a second of hesitation. The call picked up almost instantly, and his voice turned ice-cold and deadly serious. "It’s time to return that favor."
The voice on the other end of the line came through deep and gravelly, packed with total respect. "Alpha Voren, just say the word and it’s done."
A faint smile tugged at Voren’s lips. "Good. I’ll shoot you a list of people I need eyes on. I wanna know exactly where they are every second and what the hell they’re up to."
The guy let out a low chuckle. "That’s child’s play. Hit me with something that’ll actually get my blood pumping."
Voren scoffed, already used to the kind of wild energy this guy brought. "That’s plenty for now. Just make sure nothing gets past you."
"You’ve got my word on that."
The call cut off, and Voren didn’t waste a breath before pulling up Kael’s number and hitting dial. Kael picked up almost immediately.
"Alpha, we just rolled into the Outlands."
"Good," Voren said, his face turning dead serious. "Make sure folks aren’t running their mouths too much about Doctor Ash."
The words had barely left his mouth when Kael let out a heavy sigh full of regret. "I’m sorry, Alpha. I completely lost control of that situation. Pretty sure everyone already knows."
Voren shut his eyes slowly, his jaw clenching so hard his teeth ached like they might crack.
This was exactly the nightmare he’d been desperate to avoid. Now every Alpha, would begin to ask him for Doctor Ash’s help.
"Fine," he breathed out slowly, forcing himself to stay in control. "At least you told me right away." His voice stayed steady and strong. "I know how to handle this mess."
A beat later, his tone sharpened with steel. "But listen to me, one thing you don’t ever forget. You stand with Sera no matter what happens."
There wasn’t even a flicker of hesitation at the end of the line. "I understand, Alpha."
"If shit turns violent, you and Corvine stick to her like glue. Don’t let Ravyn lay a single finger on her." Voren’s eyes darkened with raw fury. "He might be an Alpha, but two Betas fighting together can take one down. Plus..." The corner of his mouth curled up. "He’s gotten weaker lately."
Kael gave a quiet laugh. "That’s pretty much an open secret at this point, Alpha."
"Good." Voren leaned back in his chair, fingers tapping against the armrest. "Damon’s with us on this, but until Seraphine makes her final call, he’ll keep standing next to Ravyn." A knowing, almost wicked smile spread across his face. "Just like I will, for now."
His expression iced over again. "While you’re out there, keep a sharp eye on Seraphine’s enemies. The ones gunning for her? They belong to me."
"I understand, Alpha."
The call ended, and Voren set the phone down before immediately dialing the manager of one of the fanciest restaurants in the Outlands.
He placed a huge order, making sure every dish would hit exactly what Seraphine was craving right now. After he hung up, he glanced toward the bedroom door, hoping like hell the food would help her get some strength back.
Less than thirty minutes later, a knock sounded at the door. Voren answered it but it wasn’t the food he ordered. His father stood there with a steaming bowl of chicken soup. "You mother used to love this when she was pregnant with you. Let your wife try it and if she likes it, I’ll give you the recipe."
