Chapter 791 - Voren can handle it
Chapter 791: Chapter 791 - Voren can handle it
’You belong to us. Stand with us.’
That was the voice Quinn kept hearing when the war began, a whisper that burrowed into her mind, that wrapped around her thoughts like vines, that pulled her toward the darkness with pure, relentless force.
Both her wolves could not speak, as if they were spellbound, their voices silenced, their presence muted. So Quinn followed after the voice, draining her allies, her body moving without her permission, her powers turning against the people she loved. Pure horror at her own actions warred with the black magic’s hold.
However, both Seraphine and Voren were strong, their energy vast and deep, so she wasn’t finding the draining easy. It was taking much longer than the normal drains, her power struggling against theirs, fighting a battle she couldn’t win. Pure resistance from their strength left her trembling.
Luckily, the Love wolf was able to pull her from the abyss of darkness, because she could completely go dark, could reach into the shadows where no one else could follow. And when Oriana saw the move, she smiled with pride, her ancient eyes warm with approval that filled the moment with quiet hope.
The Love wolf could reach out to others where only mates could, and that was also a special gift to the Grimroot pack, a gift that had been passed down through generations, a gift that had saved them more times than anyone could count. Pure gratitude for that gift settled over the group.
Quinn’s wolves began to receive the love from the Love wolf, breaking the yoke of black magic, shattering the chains that had bound them. Pure freedom flooded back into her mind.
Quinn gasped as she stopped the draining, her body trembling, her eyes wide with horror at what she had almost done.
"I’m sorry, I don’t know what came over me."
Liah smiled without accusation, her voice gentle but firm, pure understanding and urgency mixed in the words.
"It wasn’t your fault. Now help them before the Lycans win this war. Luna Oriana is already dealing with too much black magic to begin with."
Quinn looked at the fight going on, her heart clenching with fear that left her breathless.
Damon had shifted, but his wolf was badly injured from fighting the two Lycan beasts, his movements slower than before.
This breed of Lycans were far stronger than any kind they ever fought, and they were great in numbers too, an army that seemed endless. Pure desperation rose in her chest.
Kael’s back had also been pinned down by two Lycans, his wolf growling from pain, his body struggling beneath their weight. Jasmine wanted to go help, her heart screaming at her to move, but Oriana stopped her, her hand on her arm, pure protective restraint in the gesture.
Seraphine had two Lycans coming at her, and Marsha was doing a good job, though there was no sign of a win, no sign of victory.
It was more of defending herself and staying alive, but the Lycans did not look like they were estranged or in any kind of pain, their bodies recovering as fast as they were hurt. Pure frustration at their resilience filled the air.
Voren and Battal’s fights were also messy, and two other Lycans had joined Battal, making it difficult for Bloodfang to win against them, though they couldn’t win against him either. It was a stalemate, a deadly dance that could go on forever. Pure relentless pressure built with every exchange.
Oriana returned the powers Quinn had drained from Seraphine and Voren, and Quinn began to drain the Lycans fighting with Damon and Kael. And though she transferred their energy straight to the voidstone, they were regaining it fast, the black magic at play was just too strong, too ancient, too deeply woven into their very being. Pure determination kept her going despite the difficulty.
However, Quinn did not give up, and as she drained, Oriana would sieve the powers and send them to either of the werewolves, making them stronger, giving them an edge they hadn’t had before. Pure hope began to rise with every successful transfer.
Finally, they were able to inflict injuries on the Lycans, though they continued to recover from it, their bodies knitting themselves back together.
To everyone’s shock, a golden light emitted from Bloodfang’s eyes, and his strength became unstoppable, a force of nature, a power that could not be contained. Pure awe mixed with relief flooded the werewolves.
He sank his claws into one of the Lycan beasts, and the injury was so terrible the Lycan was forced to take his human form, his power breaking under the force. Pure breakthrough in the battle.
However, as Bloodfang returned to being busy with Battal’s beast, the injured one began regaining his strength again, the black magic healing him, restoring him. Pure frustration at the cycle burned hotter.
Marsha emitted the same golden light, her fangs sinking into the neck of one of the beasts, forcing him to change to human form. But once again, he also began to heal, the wounds closing before their eyes. Pure relentless opposition from the black magic continued.
Battal never faced such a fight, never faced an enemy who could match him, who could push him to the edge of his limits. The fact that he couldn’t kill the werewolves even with the strongest protectors in the shadows was frustrating, was infuriating, was terrifying. Pure desperation drove him to a new plan.
He had to think fast, and he quickly came up with a plan. Shifting to human form, his voice raised, cutting through the chaos with pure calculated challenge.
"Stop!"
His army stopped, shifting to human form, and so did the werewolves, their bodies trembling with exhaustion, their breath ragged, pure tension hanging heavy in the sudden stillness.
He looked daringly at Voren and laid his plan, his voice cold and calculated, pure arrogance mixed with necessity.
"Let’s handle it this way, Voren. You and me, we fight till death. And if you die, no one here should stop me from claiming the two white wolves and the hybrid."
Damon’s fingers balled into fists, a growl escaping him, pure protective fury rising, and Marsha growled in Seraphine’s head, her voice fierce with refusal.
’He’s courting death.’
’I know.’ Seraphine agreed but smiled, her confidence unshaken, pure trust in her mate burning bright. ’Voren can handle it.’
’Yeah.’ Marsha agreed, her voice steady with quiet certainty. ’Bloodfang is capable. He doesn’t seem to have used any of his powers today.’
Seraphine had no idea if it was the powers she knew or a new one had added up, but Voren’s voice distracted her, his words cutting through her thoughts with pure solemn weight.
"Sera, if this goddess forsaken Lycan King kills me today, then you belong to the Lycans, and so does Espe and Quinn."
He said it in a low growl, his gaze pitch black, his voice carrying the weight of a vow that left no room for argument.
Bloodfang had taken complete control of Voren as he added, his voice a rumble of thunder, pure ancient authority filling the clearing.
"But if I kill him, then no Lycans shall ever be allowed into the outlands or pack lands. Their entry to our world would be sealed forever, and their crown shall never be returned."
