Chapter 806: Chapter 806 - I’d rather die than hurt Jasmine
Kael woke up feeling more at peace than he had in a very long time, and for the first time in his life, he had a woman sleeping comfortably in his arms.
Although he still hadn’t gotten the chance to enjoy the intimacy he craved with Jasmine, simply having her in his bed, nestled against his chest with his arms wrapped securely around her, was already more fulfilling than he could have imagined.
He had spent so long wishing he could hold her close that waking up beside her felt like a precious gift, one he had no intention of taking for granted.
After everything they had been through, he wanted to cherish every moment they got to spend together, because he knew better than anyone how easily happiness could slip away.
Jasmine was still fast asleep when it was time for morning training. Although Seraphine had healed her injuries, she hadn’t fully recovered her former strength because she was still without a wolf, which was why she hadn’t returned to training since her recovery.
Losing her wolf had affected her more deeply than any physical injury ever could, leaving an emptiness inside her that she couldn’t simply ignore, no matter how much she tried to adjust to life without it.
Kael didn’t have the heart to wake her, especially when she looked so peaceful in his arms, her features relaxed and her breathing soft against his chest.
Instead, he carefully slipped out of bed, leaned down to press a gentle kiss against her forehead, and quietly made his way out of the room, taking extra care not to disturb her.
He wanted her to get as much rest as she needed, and since she had been through so much, he wasn’t about to rush her recovery.
He was halfway through training when his attention was suddenly pulled away by the excitement coming from his wolf, the unexpected surge of emotion so intense that it nearly made him lose his balance.
’Mate! Our second-chance mate!’
Kael nearly swallowed his tongue, his heart practically stopping as a cold wave of disbelief washed over him.
After everything he had experienced with Cleopatra, the last thing he wanted was another mate bond, and he certainly wasn’t looking forward to being mated to another woman.
However, he remembered that he had already seen every member of the pack, and none of the she-wolves he had encountered had triggered a mate bond with him. Could it be one of the younger she-wolves who had just turned eighteen?
He wasn’t particularly pleased with that possibility, his jaw tightening as an uncomfortable feeling settled in his stomach, but his wolf’s excitement was becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.
’Goddess! Her wolf is one of a kind. I want to shift with her, and don’t even think about rejecting her because I’ll kill you. I’ve already accepted her!’
Kael stopped training altogether, drawing the attention of the warriors whose curious gazes immediately settled on him.
Corvine had divided the training into several sections, with Kael responsible for overseeing one of them, so his sudden decision to stop naturally caught everyone’s attention.
Some of the warriors exchanged confused looks while others began whispering among themselves, wondering what could have distracted him so completely.
’I won’t accept any she-wolf who isn’t Jasmine,’ he told his wolf firmly, making it clear that he had absolutely no interest in meeting whoever had managed to excite him so much.
As far as he was concerned, there was only one woman he wanted, and he wasn’t prepared to let anyone come between them.
Unfortunately, Razor wasn’t prepared to let him have his way, his voice carrying an unusual level of determination.
’I don’t know anything about the human side of this wolf yet, but I’ve never encountered her kind before, not even from a distance. The mate bond is too intense, Kael. If you reject her, I’ll go into hibernation, and you’ll never hear from me again.’
Kael stared straight ahead, struggling to process his wolf’s threat without allowing his frustration to show.
He wasn’t ready to lose Jasmine again, especially after everything they had fought through to be together, and he certainly wasn’t going to allow another mate bond to come between them and ruin the happiness they had finally found.
’Then get ready.’
Razor was clearly displeased with his response, but rather than give up, he decided to try another approach, his voice becoming noticeably softer as he attempted to get through to his stubborn human.
’Hey, have you ever heard of a Celestial wolf?’
Kael’s attention immediately sharpened, his mind racing as he considered the name.
A Celestial wolf?
He had heard stories about extraordinary wolves, but a Celestial wolf belonged to an entirely different category.
Such wolves possessed abilities that ordinary werewolves could only dream of, including the power to heal injuries that even the strongest healers couldn’t repair, along with strength and speed that surpassed those of an Alpha wolf.
They could sense lies, recognize hostile intentions, and detect approaching threats long before anyone else became aware of them.
They could also communicate with the Moon Goddess through dreams and temporarily strengthen the wolves belonging to their pack. They were considered legends, almost mythical creatures whose existence seemed too extraordinary to be true.
Having such a wolf in their pack would be an incredible advantage, but there was one problem, and Razor was quick to remind him of it, his voice suddenly taking on a serious tone.
’Rejecting a Celestial wolf would mean the death of both of you. Are you still planning to reject her if she isn’t Jasmine? Yes, Jasmine is an amazing girl, and I know how much you love her, but this is the Moon Goddess’s choice!’
Kael felt his eyes sting, although he fought against the tears threatening to fall, his throat tightening as his chest filled with an ache he couldn’t quite explain.
It hardly seemed fair that the Moon Goddess would put him in such a difficult position after everything he had already endured, especially when he had finally found a chance to be happy with the woman he loved.
He had already suffered enough because of one mate bond, and the thought of being forced into another one when he had finally gotten Jasmine back was almost unbearable.
However, he wasn’t going to risk hurting Jasmine all over again, regardless of what the consequences might be or how much he stood to lose.
’I’d rather die than hurt Jasmine. Let’s go and meet this she-wolf.’
