Chapter 490: Chapter 321: Holy Shit! A Golden Giant Dragon

"Mr. Li Wei," he said, handing the prop script he’d just signed to the assistant director. "Would you like to stay for lunch?"

"Would that be too much trouble?" Li Wei asked.

Anya, Jin Heon, and the others had never had a film crew’s set lunch before, so they were intrigued and all looked over.

"Not at all," Craig Mazin said, waving a hand dismissively. "The crew gets lunch every day anyway. What’s a few more people?"

"Uh... Lisa," he said to the woman who’d been coordinating with Jason earlier, "order ten extra lunches for today. Get the ones for the lead actors and directors."

"You know there’s a 30% surcharge for last-minute additions, right?" Lisa said.

"If I paid an extra 100%, could you get me a Michelin chef?" Craig Mazin shot back.

"With a week’s notice, yes," Lisa said, shaking her head. "Not today."

"Then would you please get a move on and order the food?" Craig Mazin sighed. "Put it on the Netflix card."

Lisa shrugged and pulled out her walkie-talkie.

...

「12:30 PM.」

Outside Studio 16, there was a large open-air area shaded by a few large trees. It was usually where the crew ate and smoked, but today it had been temporarily cleared out.

Several long folding tables were pushed together and covered with a white tablecloth. Staff from the catering service began unloading various dishes from a heated van.

Roast chicken, pasta, a roasted vegetable platter, Mexican burritos, and a large tureen of what looked like a delicious cream of mushroom soup.

This was about the best you could hope for on a film set, after all.

But even though Anya and Daria were used to a pampered lifestyle, this was their first time eating a crew meal on a Hollywood set. They were all young and extremely curious about the industry.

Even Chen Haisheng ate quite a bit more than usual.

"Mr. Li Wei," Craig Mazin said, tearing off a piece of roast chicken. He asked in a deliberately casual tone, "I hear you’re planning to take a break for a few years?"

The assistant director, Lisa, and the others eating with them quietly perked up their ears.

"That’s right," Li Wei said. "I’m planning to take some time off and find something else to do."

"I see..." Craig Mazin said suddenly. "I’ve been thinking recently about adding a football team captain character to ’The Last of Us’."

Lisa and the assistant director both looked at him.

’He’s lying,’ the two of them thought in unison.

"I wonder if Mr. Li Wei would be interested in a cameo?" Craig Mazin asked shamelessly. "Our show has made a bit of a name for itself lately, after all."

And what do you know, Li Wei was actually a little tempted.

The system’s earlier reaction was a dead giveaway—a real film set like this could easily trick the system into generating all kinds of quests and rewards.

But he still wanted to wait and see.

’No rush. I’ll play it safe.’

"Well... you’ll have to discuss that with my agent, Don Quixote Cervantes," Li Wei said with a smile. "He handles all my business, after all."

"We should exchange contact information," Jin Heon said, setting down her plate and standing up. "I’m the COO of LW."

After lunch, the crew resumed work at 1 PM.

Craig generously allowed them to remain in the studio’s viewing area and even gave them special permission to move about freely.

Anya was ecstatic.

That afternoon, she helped paste numerous distressed advertising flyers and coupons onto a supermarket’s promotional wall, and then helped sort through a huge batch of survivor costumes.

Rows and rows of distressed jackets, ripped jeans, and combat boots were hanging on racks, needing to be sorted by scene and character number.

This was where Anya was truly in her element. She had studied art at Yale, so not only did her work look professional, she even offered a few of her own thoughts on some of the design and visual elements.

And her insights were well-received by Craig Mazin.

"Miss Anya clearly has a gift," he agreed. "We’ll try out a version of the season two costumes based on her ideas."

Even though Anya knew he was just being polite, she was still thrilled.

At around 4:30 PM, Lisa came over to inform them that their set visit was over for the day. The next scene they were shooting couldn’t be made public and required a closed set.

Anya put down the distressing sponge in her hand and reluctantly bid farewell to Studio 16.

"Did you have fun?" Li Wei asked with a smile.

"I did," Anya nodded, completely satisfied. "Visiting a film set is actually pretty fun."

The moment they stepped out of the dark, artificial apocalypse inside the studio, the 4:30 PM California sun hit them, and everyone squinted in unison.

The air was dry, warm, and carried the smell of sun-baked asphalt.

"It feels like we’ve come back from Hell to the land of the living," Chen Haisheng murmured.

Li Wei and the others got into the car, preparing to drive through the Warner Bros. Burbank Studio and head back to the Bel Air District for dinner with a senior producer from NBC.

Jason Miller couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief. His workday was almost over.

And just then, he saw a flash of surprise on Li Wei’s face.

Li Wei’s surprise was because of the [Jester’s Skull].

It had been hovering motionlessly nearby, its two Ruby eyes staring intently at one of the soundstages.

[Stop looking.]

It suddenly popped up a dialogue box.

[Don’t look in that direction. Don’t attract its attention.]

This, however, piqued Li Wei’s curiosity.

From the [Jester’s Skull]’s dialogue box, he could sense a fear that was bone-deep—if a skull could even have marrow.

Just then, the system also popped up, displaying a string of dialogue boxes:

[It has come.]

[It is the last of the dragon lineage. When the gods fell and thrones crumbled, when the oaths of Knights turned to dust, when the flames died and scales shattered, and Magic was no more.]

[It alone survived.]

[It remembers the name of every fallen member of its kind.]

[It remembers how humans forged crowns from dragon bone and brewed fine wine from Dragon Blood.]

[It harbors a hatred hotter than any flame, sworn to destroy this world.]

[You have encountered: a Gold-tier Giant Dragon]

’Holy shit! A Golden Giant Dragon!’
