American Adventure: My Uncle is Don Quixote
Chapter 513: Must Get Stronger, Get Stronger
Pistol rounds only left a white mark on his body, while rifle rounds barely managed to leave a shallow indentation.
To him, ordinary humans were as fragile as paper. He could take a life with a single punch or kick.
Fortunately, the Body of Silver allowed him to control his stats within a certain range. He now normally maintained a Power level of around 1.5 to 2, afraid of causing too much destruction by unconsciously using too much force.
It wasn’t that he pitied the drug dealers, but Jin Heon’s words had suddenly made him recall a certain feeling.
‘Ah, so people really are this fragile.’
A single 9mm bullet—no, even a small-caliber .22 round—could cause rapid death if it hit a critical spot and led to massive blood loss.
That was why people invented bulletproof vests and all sorts of bulletproof gear. He even owned a bulletproof version of a Cadillac.
Especially in the United States of America, he could walk around the cities with impunity, but the people around him still had to be careful wherever they went.
“We’re preparing to land.”
A flight attendant opened the door and announced, “We have approximately 35 minutes until we land at the private jet terminal of Kennedy Airport.”
Wait. Li Wei tensed. ‘Which airport?’
‘Kennedy. That name was synonymous with assassination.’
In the United States of America, even presidents could be successfully assassinated, let alone ordinary people.
By the time they left Kennedy Airport, it was already evening in New York.
At the end of March, New York was caught between winter and spring. The tips of the street-side trees were already sprouting tender green buds.
The Mercenaries were picked up by a private security firm, while Chen Haisheng and Li Wei drove straight for the North Shore Expressway, heading toward Long Island.
After tireless overtime from Jose’s team and personal supervision from Anya’s people, the villa—which Li Wei had spent over 40 million USD to purchase and renovate—was finally ready for him to move into.
The scenery outside the car window gradually transitioned from the steel and concrete of Manhattan to the rolling hills of Long Island’s North Shore.
After a nearly 50-minute drive, the Cullinan and the Cadillac Escalade turned into a private driveway.
This was Jin Heon’s first time here.
Unlike the classic, old-money style estate she had imagined, this three-story, off-white building looked both modern and stately under the setting sun.
The estate covered a total of 12 acres, and Jin Heon stared, captivated.
Anya had moved in two days prior. She had outsourced the chefs and simply brought over the same housekeeping team that serviced their large apartment in Riverdale.
After a simple meal, Li Wei made an announcement.
“We’re having a small celebration party at home tomorrow.”
“First, to celebrate that the entire supply chain for LW Drinks is finally up and running, and that everyone made it back from Mexico in one piece,” Li Wei said, raising his glass.
Everyone chuckled lightly.
“Honestly, you…” Anya swatted Li Wei, displeased. “You went without bodyguards! Look how dangerous it is over in Monterey.”
“Second, to celebrate Brother Haisheng getting married next week,” Li Wei made a face at Anya. “And third, to celebrate moving in.”
“We’ll invite Mark and his wife, and Mr. Arthur, for dinner at our place.”
After Chen Haisheng and Jin Heon left, Don Quixote also departed to pick up Lily from a classmate’s house.
Once everything for the next day was arranged, only Anya and Li Wei were left in the house.
“So, shall we…”
“Don’t open your eyes,” Anya said. “I have a surprise for you.”
Li Wei’s interest was instantly piqued. He closed his eyes and let Anya lead him to a mysterious room on the ground floor.
“You can open your eyes now,” Anya said.
Li Wei opened his eyes and found himself in a room of about 40 square meters. Directly in front of him was a 140-inch laser projection screen, with an 8K projector and a sound system embedded in the cabinet below.
“Ta-da!” Anya said proudly. “A home theater! What do you think? I designed it myself!”
“Wow…” Li Wei said. “It really is… very nice.”
“Look at that reaction,” Anya said, swatting him with a laugh. “There are no cameras in this room. And the soundproofing is *very* good.”
“Oh?” Li Wei raised an eyebrow. “You mean—”
“I mean I feel like watching a Zack Snyder movie today,” Anya said with a foxy smile. “We’ll talk after.”
Li Wei rubbed his nose and lay down with Anya on the extra-wide loveseat in the middle of the front row.
“Why the sudden urge to watch this today?” Li Wei asked.
“Because I was scrolling earlier and saw something,” Anya said, plopping down in Li Wei’s lap and wiggling a bit. “A new Superman project is in the works.”
She scrolled through her phone to show Li Wei a poster. “Wow, this new casting poster is hideous. We’d better watch the previous version to cleanse our eyes.”
…
Anya was completely engrossed in the movie, letting out an occasional exclamation.
Li Wei had seen *Superman: Man of Steel* before. Though his eyes were on the screen, his mind had already begun to wander.
On the screen, the apocalyptic flames of Krypton consumed everything. Jor-El placed the infant in the ship, a small vessel carrying the last hope of a civilization. It passed through the atmosphere, through the darkness between stars, and finally crashed into a cornfield in Kansas.
Then the child grew up. He could fly at the speed of light and was invulnerable. No force could harm him, aside from Kryptonite—his one designed weakness.
