American Adventure: My Uncle is Don Quixote
Chapter 514: I Must Become Stronger
He was strong enough to protect everyone.
Li Wei glanced over at Anya. She was completely engrossed in the screen, munching on popcorn, her face flickering in the light of the projection.
‘What if a bullet came flying at her?’
Once the thought entered his mind, he couldn’t shake it.
‘People are so fragile.’
Jin Heon’s words from the plane echoed in his ears: “Just one bullet. That’s all it takes, and my head will be blown to bits.”
‘What if that bullet was aimed at Don Quixote, at Anya, at Elizabeth, at Lily, or at Jin Heon?’
‘He’d be fine himself, but would he be fast enough to save them?’
With his current reaction speed and fitness, he could handle a lot at close range. But if the distance increased—say, a sniper’s bullet fired from dozens of meters away…
He had no confidence he could stop a bullet moving that fast.
He could stop a bullet himself, but the people around him couldn’t.
Every one of them was merely flesh and blood.
As his wealth and status continued to rise, the dangers surrounding him would only increase, not decrease.
On the silver screen, Superman shot through Metropolis at supersonic speeds, catching a falling Louise Lane with one hand.
‘If I were Superman…’ Li Wei thought.
But he wasn’t. Right now, he was just a Silver Knight.
He was strong, but he was far from reaching that state of “absolute safety”—both for himself and for those around him.
He had admittedly gotten a bit complacent after the Super Bowl. He’d won the championship, been named MVP, and earned more money than he could have in dozens of lifetimes. Everything was going well—too well.
Things were going so smoothly that he hadn’t actively sought out missions in a long time. He’d lost that pure, almost greedy hunger for power he’d had when he first arrived in New York—that drive to proactively and frantically chase down every single opportunity for improvement.
Li Wei pulled up his attribute panel.
[Name: Li Wei]

[Class: Knight · Silver Body (Dragon Blood Knight)]
[Power: 8.0]
[Spirit: 5.1]

[Free Attribute Points: 2.9]
[Skills]: [Sky Stepping (Lv. 1)], [Knight Fighting Art]… (Omitted)
[Equipment]: [Ring of All Things Smooth], [The Incessantly Chattering Jester’s Skull]
He was still 12.5 attribute points away from becoming a Golden Knight.
‘According to what Uncle Don Quixote said in his dreams, a Knight could fly for short periods after reaching the Golden rank (Chapter 133). But if I just keep waiting around passively like this, how many years will it take to save up enough points for the promotion to Golden Knight?’
‘It would take at least three or four years, and a lot can happen in that time.’
His original plan had been to lie low and make his fortune quietly.
‘But now, I need to pick up the pace. I have to raise my attributes as quickly as possible.’
As his mind raced, Anya started to get a little tired of the movie.
“Honey, let’s go upstairs,” she said, stroking Li Wei’s chest. “My period just ended…”
“You go on up,” Li Wei said, suddenly springing up from the sofa. “I need to make a call.”
‘Right now, the fastest way to farm attribute points is by making a movie.’
‘Uncle Don Quixote said in his dream that he was going away to train and the martial arts tournament wouldn’t start for a long time. I can’t drag my feet anymore. I have to contact the crew of *The Last Flying Dragon* and get on board as soon as possible.’
Anya: ???
She watched Li Wei push the door open and leave, then glanced back at the movie screen, a sudden wave of regret washing over her.
‘We should have just skipped the movie.’
“Hey, wait!” she called out, jumping off the sofa too. “I-I-I… I already freshened up! Don’t you want to take a shower before you make your call?”
