Ancient Woman Transmigrates to the Body of a Modern Man
Chapter 110: Discovered 1
Lin Feng’s lashes flickered.
In other words, the Tang family had no intention of reconciling.
No wonder his grandfather, uncle, and cousins had been nowhere to be seen during the spring activities. They had been busy dealing with this matter at the company.
Sighing inwardly, Lin Feng lowered his head apologetically toward his grandfather and uncle. "It seems I have caused you trouble again."
"It’s nothing major." Grandpa Bai lowered his spoon. "Although our company proposed this joint venture to take advantage of the regulatory initiative benefits, the Tang family’s role is no longer as important as it was at the beginning."
"Why, Grandpa?" The little deer Lin Feng curiously asked.
"Half of their investment was in cash, while the other half was in machinery and equipment, which was mainly used at the beginning of the Green Energy Small Corridor Belt project. By demanding to withdraw now, they are hoping to force us to buy out their share, trying to put pressure on the project’s available funds."
After saying this, the old man’s eyes held disdain.
If it indeed happened as they wished, the project would have a lot of troubles and even offend the state-owned business stake owners whom they approached to bypass the red tape in bureaucracy.
Hmph! He, Bai Jian, would remember this!
Bai Tingyu nodded. "After all, the only reason we approached them in the first place was to avoid taking out bank loans to preserve equity. We thought it would be better to keep the shares within our own circle rather than let outsiders benefit from them."
As the saying goes, good water should not flow into outsiders’ fields.
But now that the two families had fallen out, the Tang family wanted nothing more to do with the Bai family.
"When the Tang family withdrew, it must have left a funding gap. The board of directors must have raised objections," Lin Feng said slowly, his face still looking calm.
But inwardly, he was hurriedly trying to recall whatever financial knowledge he could find in his memories, filled with worries.
This was by no means as simple as his grandfather made it sound, especially if there were regulatory initiatives involved!
The boy frowned slightly while racking his head, not even realizing that the animals behind him had stopped and simultaneously looked at him from behind.
A few birds flew over and landed on the chair’s backrest, tilting their heads to look at the boy.
They were so eye-catching that the three elders on the table could not help but all look at the strange behavior of the tiny things.
The oblivious Lin Feng continued to ask in confusion. "But when I saw the elders in the ancestral hall, none of them mentioned this."
A squirrel scampered up the boy’s shoulder, hugged the boy’s neck, and nuzzled its head against the boy’s jawline, as if comforting him.
The boy raised a hand and patted the squirrel distractedly, looking at the elders.
The three elders’ eyes widened: "..."
It took a while for Grandpa Bai to find his voice.
"...When the Tang family withdrew, it did leave a funding gap. But I told the board that I already had another investor ready to cover the shortfall, so they stopped arguing."
Lin Feng understood what he meant, and his eyes lit up. "I see. Grandpa is indeed wise."
Lin Feng had already handed over the considerable liquid assets from his mother’s dowry to the head of the family to manage.
Bai Yufei had always been exceptionally good at investments. She had managed to grow her already substantial dowry into an astronomical fortune. This was also why Lin Dong had been so dissatisfied with her, always wanting her to put more money into his company.
Now, that considerable fortune was finally being put to use by the Bai family as well.
However, Lin Feng still felt that he was missing something.
Wei Ranmiao took back her gaze and shook her head at the two men with meaningful eyes.
Then she looked at the clueless nephew.
"The penalties for breaking the contract are quite substantial, but they still insisted on withdrawing. In the end, they are the ones suffering the losses. It seems they are truly determined to cut ties with us."
Lin Feng finally remembered what he had overlooked. "What about their shares, the stakes they own?"
"They intend to sell their shares and transfer their ownership to someone else. That’s why we’ve been so busy lately. We have to handle all the negotiations," Bai Tingyu explained, finally composing himself.
He did not know what was going on, but since the others kept quiet, he naturally did the same.
"At first, they wanted to sell them to a third party. Fortunately, the contract stated that our Bai family and the other existing investors have the right of first refusal. We were able to purchase the shares ourselves instead of letting outsiders get their hands on them."
While speaking, his eyes narrowed slightly as he looked at his wife, who seemed to have already known something.
Lin Feng was curious. "Which elder bought the shares?"
Grandpa Bai, Bai Tingyu, and Wei Ranmiao all looked at the boy and said in unison: "You."
Who else could it be?
Lin Feng: "...I’m not even eighteen yet."
"Silly boy, have you forgotten what you learned at school?"
Wei Ranmiao chuckled. "There’s nothing stopping a minor from owning company shares. You may not be old enough to manage the investment yourself, but your grandfather can handle the formalities and manage the shares on your behalf as your legal representative."
Oh.
Lin Feng searched through his memories again, recalling what he had learned about the relevant laws. Only then did he realize his mistake.
"I really did forget." Lin Feng sighed and held his head. "It seems I’ve forgotten quite a lot of things since waking up."
This was the only explanation he could come up with for his strange changes and frequent forgetfulness.
Fortunately, the elders seemed to have noticed these changes long ago and had already accepted his explanation.
