What he did not know was that, while he wasn’t looking, the three elders exchanged another glance.

Grandpa Bai coughed and comforted him.

"This has actually turned out quite well for the Bai family. We can use this opportunity to strengthen our control over the project and reduce our dependence on the Tang family. If they had continued to hold those shares, who knew what trouble they might cause in the future?"

After all, the Tang family was practically throwing away a profitable investment just because of a personal grudge.

This was hardly the way a sensible businessman would behave.

Not only were they willing to pay a hefty penalty for breaking the contract, but they were also giving up their shares in the project.

Once they calmed down and thought things through, they would probably regret this decision until their guts turned green.

After explaining this, Grandpa Bai chuckled. "This must have been that reckless old man’s own decision. I bet the board of directors is furious by now."

He then turned to Lin Feng with a smile.

"Xiao Feng, you’ve struck it rich. You now own a considerable stake in the project. Although you’ve invested a large sum of money and used up almost all your available liquid assets, I can assure you that this investment will bring you even greater returns in the future."

Bai Tingyu nodded emphatically.

"If the company had more liquid funds available, we would have gladly bought all their shares. Unfortunately, we have other projects to consider as well. We can’t afford to tie up all our available funds here, or the other projects will end up with funding gaps of their own."

"I don’t have that much money myself." Wei Ranmiao sounded a little envious. "Otherwise, I would have gladly bought some of those shares too. Feifei is really talented when it comes to managing money."

Although the Wei family was extremely wealthy and even had distant connections to the princelings in the capital, she came from only a small branch of the family.

Naturally, her dowry could not compare with that of the favored Bai Yufei.

Lin Feng was in a daze.

So this was actually a good thing for him?

After the elders comforted him, Lin Feng’s worries finally lifted, and his gentle smile returned.

The rest of their conversation was no longer about financial matters. Instead, they talked about how beautiful the flowers were, praising Lin Feng’s green thumb until the boy blushed.

When they finished breakfast, Lin Feng was a little confused to see that the three elders were still seated at the table.

"Go inside the house first. We still need to discuss some business matters," Grandpa Bai said gently.

The boy nodded obediently and called the servants over to clear the table and bring in some snacks and tea.

Once everyone else had left, the two men turned to look at Wei Ranmiao.

She looked back at them with an expression that clearly said, ’Now you’ve finally noticed.’

"...Since when did you notice?" Bai Tingyu finally asked.

His wife sighed. "You should ask me what I’ve noticed instead."

"There’s still something more?" Bai Tingyu was alarmed.

If they had initially thought that the boy simply had a natural affinity for animals and plants, what they had witnessed earlier could no longer be explained that way.

The moment Lin Feng showed signs of worry, all the animals had simultaneously stopped what they were doing and turned to look at him, all at the same time.

As if...

"It’s as if the animals could sense his emotions," Grandpa Bai concluded.

The spring breeze swept past the pavilion, making the sea of purple wisteria hanging above them like a curtain sway in the wind. Several pink and white petals fluttered through the garden.

It was a beautiful scene, but now it somehow felt a little... hair-raising.

As an avid believer in feng shui, Grandpa Bai thought that his grandson must have had a strange experience in the mountains.

The vast virgin mountain ranges near the Tibetan Plateau were filled with all kinds of miasma and strange things. There were even all kinds of cults and ancient tribes hiding inside.

"This garden... Did Xiao Feng add any fertilizer or growth supplements?"

Wei Ranmiao shook her head. "I was suspicious too, so I asked the servants. Xiao Feng only watered the plants regularly with tap water. He didn’t do anything else, not even trim them."

Yet the garden had turned out like this, and it had only been a few days since the boy had started watering the plants.

"Also..." Wei Ranmiao hesitated, wondering whether it was appropriate for her, as one of the boy’s elders, to say what she was thinking.

She bit her lip and fell silent.

Grandpa Bai noticed her hesitation and sighed. "Just say it. We’ve already witnessed something so surreal. One more thing won’t surprise us anymore."

"Well..." Wei Ranmiao hesitated, coughing lightly before continuing. "Have you noticed how much Xiao Feng has changed compared to before?"

The two men nodded matter-of-factly.

"He went through so many accidents, one after another."

"It’s only natural that he would change."

"But don’t you think his changes are a little too drastic?" Wei Ranmiao frowned slightly. Why are straight men so dense? "From the doctor’s diagnosis, he never suffered from amnesia, yet there are so many things he seems to have forgotten."

"Sometimes, when I mention something from the recent past before his coma, Xiao Feng needs a moment to recall it, as though those memories have become distant and unfamiliar. Even things he once studied and excelled at now seem unfamiliar to him."

She paused for a moment before continuing in a hesitant voice.

"And it’s not just his memory. His entire personality seems to have changed. It’s not simply that he’s become more withdrawn or developed extreme reactions because of his traumatic experiences."

"Sometimes, I even feel as though he’s become an entirely different person. There are moments when I look at him and feel that he doesn’t seem like my nephew at all..."

Grandpa Bai’s face turned paler and paler with each word his daughter-in-law uttered.

Bai Tingyu was already feeling tense due to his wife’s words, but seeing this, he became even more alarmed.

He looked at his wife sternly. "Dear, that’s enough."

Grandpa Bai raised a hand to stop him. "Continue."

Bai Tingyu: "Dad..."

Wei Ranmiao stopped speaking and lowered her head.

Despite her father-in-law’s permission, she still hesitated because her next words were even more offensive.

"Ranmiao, go on." Grandpa Bai stared coldly at Bai Tingyu.

Seeing this, Wei Ranmiao bit her lip, bracing herself for a scolding.

"Dad, I really don’t have any prejudice against Xiao Feng. He’s my nephew, after all, and I care about him very much. It’s just that, although he was always a quiet child before, he was still very much like a boy."

She closed her eyes and bit the bullet.

"But now... sometimes, I feel that he’s become a little too gentle and delicate. His mannerisms, the way he speaks, even the way he carries himself... There are times when I feel as though I’m talking to a young woman rather than my own nephew."
