Chapter 606: Chapter 502: High-pressure Water Cannon
"Who the hell are you?"
Zhao Hongjie muttered to himself. ’The fact that this man prepared an escape route in advance proves he’s no ordinary person.’
Luckily, a police bird was tracking him, leaving the target’s movements completely exposed.
Zhao Hongjie was increasingly impressed by how useful the police birds were. They were so much better than drones.
And this was with Shen Xin injured.
If he weren’t injured, with all seven police birds deployed, it would create a truly inescapable net.
At the thought of Shen Xin, Zhao Hongjie’s expression hardened.
’If anything happens to Shen Xin...!’
Zhao Hongjie snorted and ordered his men to hurry the Water Patrol Division to the predetermined area of the lake.
He was certain the man would try to escape by water.
Nanjiang had Li Lake and the Grand Canal. As a classic Jiangnan Water Village region, it had always maintained a water patrol.
Back in the day, there were lake bandits that needed to be dealt with.
In those days, soldiers in boats would battle the bandits all over Li Lake.
That was why Zhao Hongjie had always prioritized the development of the Water Patrol Division, even establishing a joint patrol system with Pingyu and Yanling.
In fact, just this February, a highly advanced new patrol boat had entered service.
Patrol Boat 110.
It was 33.8 meters long with a full displacement of 87 tons.
Its top speed exceeded 30 knots.
Of course, this wasn’t the navy. The boat wasn’t armed with a deck gun or a 12.7mm machine gun.
That would be overkill for dealing with criminals.
The boat’s armaments were primarily non-lethal: a high-pressure water cannon with 360-degree rotation and a range of sixty to eighty meters.
It was also equipped with a directional acoustic device that could emit powerful sound waves to disorient and stun targets.
Just as he’d predicted, Er Long’s tracking clearly showed Shoehorn Face sprinting all the way to a simple civilian pier on the lakeshore.
He threw back a tarp, revealing a speedboat.
Bag in hand, he glanced back once before quickly jumping aboard, starting the engine, and speeding off.
Before Zhao Hongjie could even give the order, the command center had already updated the target’s status and dispatched the nearby patrol boat to intercept.
With their data linked, and Er Long providing aerial reconnaissance, there was no chance of losing the target.
In the video feed, Shoehorn Face piloted the speedboat, tearing out onto the lake at high speed.
As the wind whipped past, a cold smirk finally broke across his stern face. He casually pulled a pair of sunglasses from his bag and put them on.
He hadn’t escaped completely, but for the moment, he was several steps ahead of the police. If they wanted to catch him, they’d have to eat his dust.
The speedboat cut through the waves, heading due west. Once he rounded the point of land jutting into the water up ahead, the vast expanse of Li Lake would open up before him.
’It’ll be much harder for them to catch me then.’
But just as he rounded the point, something suddenly appeared in his line of sight...
’A patrol boat?’
Shoehorn Face was completely stunned.
The next moment, a voice boomed from the patrol boat’s loudspeaker.
The words, "You are surrounded! Stop your vessel immediately!" were particularly grating.
’No way!’
Shoehorn Face’s eyes flew open. ’Where did these water cops come from? It’s like they were waiting for me.’
The distance between them closed rapidly.
Shoehorn Face snapped back to his senses and immediately wrenched the wheel, trying to flee.
Aboard the patrol boat, Liu Likui, the captain of the Water Patrol Division, gave the order to engage without hesitation.
He already knew the target had assaulted four police officers.
The man needed to be taught a lesson.
The next moment, the high-pressure water cannon on the bow roared to life.
A jet of water shot across at least fifty meters of open lake and slammed hard into the speedboat.
There was a reason it was called a cannon; its power was immense.
The moment the blast swept over him, Shoehorn Face’s vision went black. It was like hitting a flash flood head-on. He instinctively grabbed for the speedboat’s wheel, but he couldn’t hold on.
The world went dark as the force of the water enveloped him, flushing him straight into the lake.
Even as he hit the water, he could still clearly hear the booming voice demanding his surrender.
He couldn’t help but think, ’You keep telling me to surrender, but you haven’t given me a chance to!’
