Chapter 704 - 5: The Local Gang
Chapter 704: Chapter 5: The Local Gang
Shen Xin genuinely planned to say a few words.
"First, discipline."
Shen Xin raised a finger and singled out Tian Kui. "Tian Kui, you watch them. If any of them run off, get lost, or cause trouble, I’m not coming for them. I’m coming for you."
He was holding the dog responsible—a policy of collective punishment.
Tian Kui naturally understood. He turned his head and bared his teeth at his many underlings, barking several times in a row.
"You hear me?"
"If anyone runs off, don’t blame me for getting rough."
The crowd of police dogs stared straight ahead and nodded in unison.
This scene made Philips, standing a short distance away, shriek, "Fuck! Did you guys see that? They’re nodding! They understood!"
Juliet and the other two were dumbfounded.
York nudged Griffin with his elbow and said, "See? I told you. He really knows magic."
Griffin remained silent, but his gaze grew much more intense.
Meanwhile, Shen Xin’s lecture continued.
"And you winged ones. Teddy."
Shen Xin looked at the lazy Teddy. "We’ll talk about finding you a wife later. Since you’re here, you have to take on some responsibility. If anyone flies off or disobeys, don’t hold back. Deal with them."
In the air, Teddy’s combat prowess was still far superior to the ravens’.
Teddy’s small eyes were filled with helplessness. He nodded and let out a squawk.
Then he turned and squawked at the ravens.
"Behave, and try not to run off."
’If they really do run off, there’s nothing to be done about it. Besides, I should be fine either way.’
’I’m so valuable and even have official registration. Shen Xin wouldn’t dare do anything to me.’
Thanks to his ability, Shen Xin knew exactly what Teddy was thinking. Annoyed, he smacked him on the head.
’We haven’t even started and you’re already trying to pull a fast one on me, huh?’
"Of course, that includes you two. Especially you, Da Mei. If you get lost here, you won’t be able to find your way home," Shen Xin added, turning to warn Da Mei.
Da Mei simply turned her head away, wearing a haughty, ’I’m not listening’ expression.
Shen Xin couldn’t be bothered to argue with her. This was just getting the unpleasantries out of the way first.
The reason he had brought Da Mei and the others was in case there was a need for stealth reconnaissance in the future.
The ravens could handle aerial reconnaissance, but for close-range infiltration, dogs were too large a target. Cats were more suitable, especially the Sheriff.
"Second point."
Shen Xin raised another finger. "Pay attention when it comes to food. You can only eat what I give you. When it’s time to work, I don’t want any of you messing around out there."
"We’re not familiar with this place, and there are many animals here you’ve never seen before. Don’t you dare eat any protected species and cause trouble for me."
This was a very important point.
After all, they were in a foreign country, and in Shen Xin’s impression, animal protection organizations abroad were what you could call fanatical.
He seemed to recall frequently seeing news online about them making all sorts of trouble and obstructing development projects just to protect the habitat of some small animal.
Tian Kui and the others would be sent out to work later. He didn’t want them to be careless and eat a protected animal along the way.
That would be like poking a hornet’s nest.
As soon as Shen Xin mentioned this, York came closer, nodding repeatedly. "Right, Shen Xin, that’s a very important point. Those people are a whole other level of trouble."
"How about this: I’ll put together a list of rare and protected plants and animals for you later. Try to get them to exercise some restraint."
He couldn’t help but imagine the scene in his mind.
Some protected animal gets eaten, and then an animal rights organization directs its anger at the FBI, protesting that they brought Shen Xin over, leading to the hunting and killing of a rare species.
"You hear me?"
Shen Xin chided, pointing at the crowd of animals.
"Alright, that’s the two points. You’re free to move around, but don’t wander off too far."
Shen Xin clapped his hands, signaling them to dismiss.
They had also brought equipment with them.
The police dogs had GPS collars, and the ravens had GPS leg bands, so they probably wouldn’t get lost.
The flock of ravens surged into the sky in a dark cloud. Cooped up in cages for over ten hours, they had long been going stir-crazy.
As for the police dogs, Shen Xin had finished his lecture, but Tian Kui was just getting started. He barked a few times, gathered the other dogs, and held his own meeting to ensure everyone understood the directives.
"This is insane."
Philips muttered to himself again as he watched the group of police dogs gathered in a circle for their meeting.
In any case, police dogs in the United States couldn’t do anything like this.
Dogs are pack animals. Tian Kui used to be a lone fighter, a stray wandering on his own. Later, after he became friends with Tiger Stripes, he learned quite a few methods for managing subordinates from him.
For example, he would select strong dogs with greater combat strength to form a middle management, dividing all the dogs into several small teams.
He controlled the middle-managers, who in turn controlled the lower ranks.
He would even show favoritism to motivate certain small teams.
After relaying the guiding principles, the dogs dispersed.
Tian Kui didn’t wander far.
He didn’t quite grasp the concept of going abroad, but it didn’t matter. As long as he was where Shen Xin was, that was all that mattered.
It was just that this foreign place was pretty hot, and he could smell the dryness in the air.
He ran off to get a drink of water and had just started to doze off when one of his underlings came to report.
A curly-tailed Iron-Clad Gold ran over.
"Boss, we’ve run into a tough guy."
Tian Kui lifted an eyelid.
"Oh?"
The Iron-Clad Gold let out a series of barks.
"We tried to greet him, but he ignored us, showed us no respect, and even barked at us."
"Boss, we gotta get him."
Tian Kui sized up the Iron-Clad Gold, trying to gauge the credibility of his little report.
’But on second thought, arriving in a new place, you do have to go say hello to the local crew.’
’I’m here to work, on official business, with a mission to complete.’
’I have to make things clear with the local crew so they don’t cause trouble for me.’
’If they don’t show respect, then there’s nothing for it. I’ll have to teach them a lesson and let them know who has more backup.’
At this thought, Tian Kui stood up.
"Lead the way."
As he said this, he barked a few more times into the distance, summoning his underlings.
