Chapter : 715

Luna gasped. The gray-haired girl stumbled and fell onto her side. She rubbed her elbow. "That was very rude," Luna complained.

Princess Iris struggled to stand. She used her silver rapier like a walking cane. She stabbed the blade into the floor to keep herself from falling. The holy white light flickered slightly.

Ken Eliot sat near the back of the room. He watched the massive shockwave ripple across the floor toward him.

Ken did not panic. He did not use a magical shield. He simply waited for the exact right millisecond.

"This is a classic ground-pound area-of-effect attack," Ken analyzed casually in his mind. He kept his goofy, relaxed smile. "You just have to jump over the shockwave. It is a very basic timing mini-game. You press the jump button right before the rumble hits your feet. It requires minimal effort."

The shockwave reached his broken piece of concrete.

Ken intentionally slipped off his rock. He did a very clumsy, highly dramatic back-roll. He looked like a goofy boy falling over backwards. He rolled his body into the air for one single second.

The destructive shockwave passed directly under him. It missed him .

Ken finished his clumsy roll. He landed safely on his bottom. He dusted off his navy blue sweatpants. He did not have a single scratch. He successfully dodged a massive boss attack by pretending to fall over.

"I should have jumped," Ken mumbled lazily out loud. "Rolling gets my shirt dirty. This floor is covered in dust. I really hate doing laundry."

Gargantua did not stop attacking. The monster stood up straight. The blindingly bright green core on its chest pulsed rapidly.

The beast opened its massive, faceless head. A gaping hole appeared in the rusted steel armor. The hole glowed with pure, toxic radiation.

The monster released a massive burst of radioactive energy from its body.

The energy did not look like a normal laser beam. It looked like dozens of glowing green orbs. The orbs shot out in every single direction. They flew across the room like toxic cannonballs. They moved fast.

"Incoming projectiles!" Sayma warned politely but urgently. She pushed her glasses up her nose. She cast a golden honeycomb barrier in front of Risa. "Take cover immediately!"

The radioactive blasts were very hard to dodge. The green orbs exploded upon contact with anything.

One orb hit a broken computer mainframe. The computer melted instantly. Toxic green smoke hissed into the air. Another orb hit the ceiling. A chunk of concrete dissolved.

The 13th Unit scrambled desperately. They ran across the broken floor tiles. They tried to avoid the deadly blasts.

Naomi dashed to the left. She used her wind magic to boost her speed. A glowing green orb zoomed past her shoulder. It missed her by an inch. She felt the intense, sickening heat of the radiation. She breathed very fast.

Luna raised her hands. She fired a massive blast of wind. She tried to push the incoming green orbs away. The wind hit the radioactive energy. The toxic orbs barely slowed down. The radiation was too dense. The orbs pushed right through her wind magic. Luna had to dive behind a fallen metal cabinet to stay safe.

Ira summoned high-pressure water shields. The pale water mage created a thick wall of water. Two green orbs hit the water shield. The radioactive energy reacted violently with the liquid. The water boiled instantly. It turned into a cloud of toxic, burning steam. Ira had to drop the spell and step backward.

The team struggled immensely to defend themselves. The attacks were relentless. Gargantua fired burst after burst of radioactive energy. The monster did not get tired. It did not need to rest. It pulled infinite energy from the toxic air.

"We cannot get close to it!" Zinia shouted over the loud explosions. She hid behind a large pile of rubble. "The radiation blasts are too fast! If one of those orbs hits us, we will melt!"

Laxmi threw a fireball from behind a metal desk. The fireball hit a green orb in mid-air. The two spells canceled each other out. But Laxmi was breathing very hard.

"I am running out of mana!" Laxmi complained loudly. "I cannot keep shooting fireballs forever! This monster is cheating!"

Sayma crouched next to Princess Iris. The Vice-Captain opened her notebook. She clicked her silver pen. She analyzed the new battle data. Her dark eyes looked serious.

"The situation is critical, Princess," Sayma reported softly. "Our previous strategy is now useless. The creature absorbs Solurius radiation directly from the ambient atmosphere. The toxic mist is an infinite fuel source."

Princess Iris frowned deeply. She deflected a small splash of toxic sludge with her holy light. "It has unlimited energy?"

"Yes," Sayma confirmed firmly. "As long as the Solurius mist is in the air, the monster will regenerate instantly. Physical attacks cannot kill it. Elemental magic cannot kill it. We can break its armor a hundred times. It will simply heal itself a hundred times."

The terrifying reality of the battle settled over the 13th Unit.

They realized they were trapped in an unwinnable cycle. They were fighting a monster with infinite health potions. The environment itself was keeping the beast alive. They could not destroy the toxic mist. They could not punch the radiation away.

The team was backed into a corner. Their stamina was draining very fast. Their magical reserves were dropping. They were constantly dodging lethal, radioactive blasts. They were getting tired.

Naomi looked at her smoking silver daggers. She realized her speed was not enough. Zinia realized her rocks were useless. Laxmi realized her fire could not burn infinite toxic sludge.

Princess Iris gripped her silver rapier. She looked at her exhausted friends. She knew they could not win a battle of endurance against an immortal titan. They needed a different plan.

Ken Eliot sat behind a large, overturned metal desk. He was safe from the green orbs. He slumped his shoulders. He reached into his plastic bag. He pulled out a chocolate cookie. He took a bite.

"This is a bullet hell phase," Ken thought casually in his mind. He chewed his cookie. "The boss fills the entire screen with glowing projectiles. The player has to dodge perfectly while waiting for an opening. But there is no opening here. The boss has infinite ammo. This is a very poorly balanced encounter. The developers really messed up the difficulty curve on this level."

Ken watched Naomi dive away from another radioactive blast. He watched Princess Iris struggle to maintain her holy shield.

Ken swallowed his food. His sleepy dark eyes focused on the giant monster. He analyzed the entire room. He saw the glowing green core on the monster's chest. He saw the thick steel armor. He saw the infinite toxic mist swirling in the air.

He knew the girls were right. Physical attacks were useless. Elemental magic was useless. Normal combat tactics would lead to a total party wipe.
